    2023 MY with MCU2 or MCU3?

For those who own the MY, I presume it uses MCU2. MCU1 in the S and X were prone to eMMC failure due to its 8GB chip limitation and excessive data logging. Since MCU2, I don't believe I heard of MCU2 failing, as it has a 64GB chip and is relatively new, so only time will tell. But...

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

$7,500 tax credit is a game changer. I went to the local Tesla store yesterday to check out the Model Y. Store was packed and the MY floor unit was sold.

    Another rejected model Y

Not true, at least not to that of Tesla's extent. My Lexus LX570 has 116k miles and is 11 years old. Absolutely impeccable fit and finish. One of my staff has a ~15 year old Honda Pilot; also no problems with issues that seem to plague the M3 and MY.

    Brakes at 27k miles? Really?

OP seriously, 27k miles? A benefit of EVs (and hybrids) is regenerative braking, which should allow brake pads to last a LONG time. I've heard Prius owners not having to replace brake pads until well past 100k miles. I would assume Tesla's pads would have similar life spans, if not longer...

    So sick of "Service".

Really??? If someone needs service for their Tesla, or has a concern regarding their vehicle, he/she can only text?
  8. docboy

    So sick of "Service".

Sorry to hear of this OP. Makes me weary of buying a Tesla, as I'm looking at getting a used Model X or 3.

    Model X reliability...

For a used Model X (or even the S and 3 for comparison) how much should one budget for annual maintenance and repairs?

    Lowballed on trade-in from Tesla

Sorry to hear. Can you share the problems you were having? What are you replacing the X with? Another Tesla, or an ICE vehicle?

Model X Tires - Replacement Miles

20k is pretty low. Is it because of the staggered tire setup? Tesla's high torque? I had a 996 turbo that also had a staggered tire setup, and those tires did not last very long. Lucky to get 15k miles IIRC. Gets pricey real quick. How long are the tires on the Model 3 lasting?

Can you share link or zip code? All the used Model Xs I'm seeing online on Tesla's site start at $55k.

    Model X reliability...

Appreciate your honest view. You have/had 3 Tesla's, so there's good credibility. Your take, along with the link @cwerdna posted from Edmunds, seem to mirror that of Consumer Reports reliability rating. As of the new year, I drive roughly 1,100 miles per month in a 11 year old Lexus SUV that...

Thanks for the links, will take a look. Does seem like the X is a bit finicky in terms of maintenance/repairs.

Your former problem child, is the S or X? Would you recommend getting a Tesla out of warranty?

Yikes, seems like quiet a bit of stuff here and there. Do you still have a Tesla?

    I finally got a Tesla!

Still a EV newb. How does one read the charging status? How did you extrapolate 237 miles range? Thanks.
  20. docboy

Im not one for conspiracies but used Model X's..something is strange

I would agree with your guestimate. I also suspect Tesla (along with other auto makers) will continue to drop prices on its vehicles to hasten stagnate sales due to the current economic conditions.

Nice to see a fellow neighbor online. I'm just east of you off 405/90. Fun times we're going through now with the "curfew." Was the stuff you had replaced covered under warranty?

    15 used Model X's under $50K now

I believe a friend of mine has a X and he had his nav screen replaced 2-3 times. Is the replacement due to the faulty design of the MCU1 unit? If so, can you share link to the 3rd party repair? How much is the repair? Is the repair a replacement of a faulty part?

How is Model 3 RWD in the snow?

Thanks for sharing. I like to think I'm a pretty experienced winter driver as well, and tend to be more concerned with what others will do to me than what I will do to them. Never had a RWD vehicle. Driving dynamics seem fun in the summer, rain time and winter is a question.

How is Model 3 RWD in the snow?

My preference on not having dedicated snows is because it doesn't snow that frequently here in Seattle, but when it does snow, we get quite a few inches, especially the past few years. And I don't have the time nor do I want to spend the extra time or energy swapping out tires. I've had FWD...

    Model X reliability...

How have the tires been holding up on the X? Is it reasonable to expect 40k miles from all seasons? Saw a youtube video this morning where an owner claims he had to replace his tires multiple times due to the X's heavy weight and from repeated nails. Not sure why a car's weight makes it more...

How is Model 3 RWD in the snow?

Hi everyone, How is the M3 RWD in the snow? With all season tires, is it sufficient with the occasional snow storm in areas with hills? I Or would the dual motor AWD version be a necessity? Preference is to stick with all seasons and not have dedicated snows. I have a heavy gas guzzling SUV...

    Model X reliability...

Nice, I didn't know the MX is rated to tow. Will have to check out the tow rating specs. My LX570 is a monster at towing as well; I haven't towed a boat, though I do have a heavy hitch based rack I use to haul around some bikes. Fuel mileage (13/18mpg) drops horrendously once anything is...

    15 used Model X's under $50K now

Question, on the Tesla website, I noticed some used Model S and X come with "free unlimited supercharging." How does this free supercharging work? Is it grandfathered into the vehicle? I thought I read somewhere that Owner A bought a S or X and it came with free unlimited supercharging, and...

With adjustments, does Tesla come to you, or do you have to go to a service center? I also recently saw that Telsa dropped the price of the M3 by $2k, and I believe the S and X by $5k. Hoping that used cars will drop as well. Guess it depends on demand and how the economy recovers due to...

Hi Everyone, Newbie here, thinking of joining the Tesla world. Used Model Xs have depreciated enough to the point where I can begin to think of purchasing one. Plus my gas guzzling 13mpg SUV with my new weekly 300 mile commute is making me seriously think of getting an EV. For those who have...
