Has anyone with the old windshield washer system changed to the new one?

We've got two 2020 MYLRs, July and August builds. The wiper/washer works fine for us. 🤷‍♂️

Got my Cybertruck!! Matte Black no less, haha!!

$1,000 Early Access Deposit - Reading the tea leaf...

I'm all for the bump to $1,000 from $250. Makes the opportunity cost 4x as high and for a lot of people, that will be too much to squander on a "maybe". I have two reservations from reveal day in 2019 and this just gets me closer to an order email, haha!! I cannot wait for this truck. Getting...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Sorry, I meant to type nuclear energy 'research'. The facility he worked in used tons of HEPA filters for clean rooms, etc. apparently. He said that when a new shipment of filters was delivered, they would say, "That's a whole heap of HEPA (heap-a) filters!" haha!! I still say "hep-a" just...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

The owner’s manual and the Tesla Shop say the HEPA can be replaced every three years. Of course YMMV, etc. I like that the new snorkel from the HEPA to the firewall appears to solve the water intrusion issue that could cause the cabin filters to smell. Question for the group: Do you...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Yes!! Mobile Service FTW every time. We had a tire changed by mobile service the other day. All the mounting/balancing equipment was in the van. Took all of 20 minutes. I'll take that over schlepping to the tire shop any day, haha!!

    CyberTruck (CT) waiting room

    Waiting patiently since 2019, haha!!

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Mobile service just cleared after retrofitting both of our MYs. The tech had to run back to the shop to grab the rivet nuts (they weren’t in the bag of fasteners he was given). But the shop is close by, so he was back within 20 minutes. After that it was super quick. Enlarged two holes for the...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

IMHO, $125 is a deal for the installation and for, most importantly, the software update to enable the remapped fan speeds and the Bio button. I have two 2020's from July and August, 20202 and neither have the threaded nuts for the HEPA mounting bolts. Sure, installing a rivet nut isn't the...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

The HEPA retrofit is now officially in the Tesla app. It’s under Service, Upgrades. My quoted cost was $316.70, all in, with Mobile Service. I’ve got an appointment for both of our MY’s on Dec 05th.

    Driving on a Patched/Plugged Tire

All four tires on one of our MYLR’s has a plug…one of the tires has two. 16k miles and no issues. They hold air like a champ.

    Windshield Washer Fluid

I second the BMW/Mini fluid. Cheap, easy to mix to the strength and/or antifreeze level you need and, most importantly, it works amazingly well. If you have a BMW/Mini dealer near you, it’s about $3.00 for a bottle of concentrate...

    Model Y Owners - Preordering a Cybertruck

I have dual and tri motor ordered since the orders opened way back when. But now I know I'll go for the tri/quad motor version (whichever version has the most power, haha!!). And 100% I'm getting it camo wrapped. My plan is to keep my 2020 MYLR and run it into the ground. I love the car and...

Tesla Extended Warranty - Worth it?

Temperature and Pressure sensor. There was a recall of the T&P sensors (part of the heat pump A/C system) on some early 2020 MY's. The recalled T&P sensors would cause the A/C to perform poorly. Since the swap (in 2021 IIRC) the A/C and heat in both has worked perfectly. Even 110f+ days are no...

Tesla Extended Warranty - Worth it?

We have two 2020 MYLR's, bought in July and August, 2020. Both have been trouble free. Some OTA recalls and the T&P sensor swap are the only 'issues' we've had. One has ~16k and one has ~46k. I will be getting the Tesla extended warranty on the ~46k one. Basically, the warranty is a bet: I...

    EV-Offer power frunk

FWIW, we’ve got the EV Offer kit in both our 2020 MYLR’s. Installed in 2020. They’ve been working great. No issues.

From White to Grey paint - "Multicoat" an issue?

I seem to remember Musk replying to a tweet from someone complaining of too many white Teslas. He said something to the effect of "looking into it"

MYP All Season vs Summer Tires

I've got the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. 275/35 R21 Front 295/35 R21 Rear Awesome tires. Phenomenal grip in the rain. I paid $1,800 for the set of four.

July, 2020 and August, 2020 MYLRs. One Red/White, the other MSM/Black. 14k & 41k miles. Both still look great inside and out. Very glad we did the exterior ceramic coat.

Tesla sets charge limit to 90%

When we're done driving for the day, we plug in our 2020 MYLRs and charge to 90% everyday. Been this way for 2 1/2 years. Easy-peasy. OP, my advice is: Don't over think it. Tesla knows more about batteries than anyone.

Screen protector - Matte or Gloss ?

We've had the Abstract Ocean matte screen protectors in our 2020 MYs from the moment we got home from the SC. They are excellent and still look flawless 2 1/2 years later. https://abstractocean.com/collections/all-model-y/products/ultra-premium-tempered-glass-9h-screen-protectors

Fsd beta not responding to my torquing steering wheel causing unjust strikeouts and kicked me out wrongly.

No. Driving along in FSDB, then sudden urgent blue flashes (the kind that usually only happened when you ignored the first subtle nags) that won't clear with scrolling or torque. Goes from 'Everything's Jake' to 'Quit being an irresponsible A-hole RIGHT NOW!!' haha. The only thing that will...

Fsd beta not responding to my torquing steering wheel causing unjust strikeouts and kicked me out wrongly.

This has happened to me as well. Many times, but especially with the latest FSDB releases. Hand on the wheel. Not on the phone or messing with the screen. No FSD defeat device. Looking ahead, eyes open, no glasses. Blue Flash of Death, start scrolling, torqueing, then Bam!! Strike and lockout...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Did you see that the Holiday Update includes the ability to adjust the climate control fan speed intensity? You can chose between Low, Medium, and High intensity while remining in Auto. Sounds like a workaround for those with the HEPA but without Bioweapon mode.
  34. jf64k

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla is finding those non-metal-insert ducts are cracking at the tabs due to the added weight of the HEPA filter and that prompted the revision.

Has anyone ever charged ALL the way to 100%?

That's been my experience too...we charge both 2020 MYLR's to 90% every day. And to 100% when we are going on a trip. One has 37k, the other 13k. On regular trips, it takes nearly the exact same battery percentage as new for round trips. We're talking a few percent more at most.
  36. jf64k

Lets Talk Windshield Washer Fluid, eh?

Water. You dilute it how ever you'd like (there are mixing charts on the bottle). More concentrated if you live where it gets cold, less in warmer climates. I make two gallons with one bottle of concentrate.
  37. jf64k

Has anyone ever charged ALL the way to 100%?

The Tesla manual says there's no need to let it finish:

Has anyone ever charged ALL the way to 100%?

Many times, when I know I'm going on a long trip. I charge overnight so I don't know how long it takes to get to 100%.

Anyone have pictures of 35% ceramic tint on the front windows and 70% in the rear with white interior?

No, the fronts are lighter than the rears. And the rears are probably just a touch darker than OEM, since the film is 70%, not totally clear (though it looks clear on the windshield, people don't know there's film on the windshield unless I tell them).

Need recommendation for a rear CF matt finish spoiler for MY

I used the included tape and adhesive promoter. The spoiler still hasn't moved a bit. ETA: I had my car ceramic coated about one year before I installed the spoiler. Again, I used the supplied adhesive promoter, then taped the heck out of the spoiler while the adhesive set and left it...

Anyone have pictures of 35% ceramic tint on the front windows and 70% in the rear with white interior?

Yes, love it. The 70% heat rejection is fantastic, especially on the windshield. Here‘s our other 2020 MYLR, recent pic after I had 21” wheels installed (but before I had MYP lowering springs installed). Black interior, but you get the idea.
  42. jf64k

Anyone have pictures of 35% ceramic tint on the front windows and 70% in the rear with white interior?

That’s exactly what we wanted on our MY’s. They both got 35% front, 70% everywhere else.
  43. jf64k

Anyone have pictures of 35% ceramic tint on the front windows and 70% in the rear with white interior?

From 08/2020. Red/White MYLR when we picked it up from the tint shop. 35% front, 70% everywhere else (rears, hatch, windshield)

Lets Talk Windshield Washer Fluid, eh?

Yes, parts counter. If you have a Mini dealer closer, they sell the exact same stuff. The label just says ‘Mini’ instead of ‘BMW’. Same price, too.

Lets Talk Windshield Washer Fluid, eh?

Just picked up some more BMW concentrate. Still a bargain at $4.38/bottle. I’ve never found anything that works better.

Mixing Michelin Acoustic and Non-Acoustic Tech Tires

FWIW, I just installed those exact tires on my 2020 MYLR with Vossen HF-5's. The 295/35 are "EV" rated (according to Micheln's website), whatever that means. The tread patterns are identical between the two. And there is no noticeable noise difference between front/rear. In fact, the fronts...

Performance 21’ rims or 19’ Geminis..Are the 21’ worth the sleek look?

I have a 2020 MYLR that was about due for tires @ 35k miles. I had 19" Vossen HF-3's in Satin Black, but I decided to go with 21". Got Vossen HF-5's in Matte Anthracite, and found a member here who was selling their MYP take-off springs to give it a little drop. Eddie from @GetYourWheels (a...
