What are my home charging options?

Yes, should have clarified. One EV at a time charging. I remember in the past seeing some configurations at hotels where they had the choice of a Tesla wall charger of a J1772. I thought that the J1772 charges a Tesla slower that the Tesla wall charger - and I wanted to maximize the 30 amp...

What are my home charging options?

Recently purchased a cottage that we will be renting out often. Is there an EV charging option at home that can accept a Tesla and a non-Tesla on the same 30-40amp circuit?

Can't get coherent answer re Warranty Adjustment Program – Touchscreen Component

Yes. It was replaced at the SC for $400 and change. Good idea, I'll try the chat one more time.

Can't get coherent answer re Warranty Adjustment Program – Touchscreen Component

Yes. I had the EEMC replaced as it was failing and they say I don't qualify, but they do not tell me why I do not qualify. Speaking to a knowledgeable human would help.

Can't get coherent answer re Warranty Adjustment Program – Touchscreen Component

Thanks for this input. I have tried to do that. I am close to the major service centre in Toronto and I am good terms with the people there as I am a long time Tesla owner, but it is still contactless. However I have managed to get them on the phone. They tell me that there is nothing that...

Can't get coherent answer re Warranty Adjustment Program – Touchscreen Component

I have read the Warranty email several times. I am not able to submit my application because the app says that I am not eligible, but there is nothing in the FAQ that disqualifies me. I have tried to 'discuss' this through Testa's service chat facility, but they just ask me to send my details...

    Supercharger - Gaylord MI

This is great news. Do you have an idea of when it will be up and running? My daughter and family live in Gaylord and we visit every Christmas time.

Auto Park - Is driver supervision required?

Parallel parking has always worked well for me. In fact Auto Park is excellent at identifying spots where the S will just fit. I have always thought that the perpendicular parking, though, is more like an old man (apologies to any who identify as old men). Back, stop, forward, stop, back...

AP2 - Definitely heading in the WRONG direction...

I am a young one at only 65, but thin skinned and seriously offended by that comment :) However, do agree that sometimes AP drives like an old man (actual age not a determinant). ... and yes, was wondering about 'puzzlement' until the pic of Yule Brinner popped up. I wonder how he drove ...

Looking for a Special Charging Adapter

Thanks again folks. 24 AMPs it will be. Don't want to burn down my daughter's house.

Looking for a Special Charging Adapter

These comments are truly helpful. I am quite sure that it is a 30 AMP circuit. They can check that for me by just looking at the breaker panel. However, I will lower than amperage from my car to ensure that it doesn't exceed 30 AMPS. Still, why no EV chargers in Gaylord?

Looking for a Special Charging Adapter

It is a dryer outlet. It is in my daughter's house. She lives in Gaylord MI, which seems to be a dead zone regarding EV charging of any kind. And that is odd since it is right along I75. I don't want to have her change the outlet because then her dryer won't plug in any more. But I might...

Road Trip: Chicago to Toronto/Montreal - Advice?

The trip is easy. You have Superchargers all the way. I have gone from Toronto through Chicago and back. Just plug in you destination in Toronto and the nav will route you through all of the SC stops. A recommendation I have is to not get too cute about skipping some of the SCs. You don't save...

How do I get from Toronto to Gaylord, MI?

Looks like I have two options at this point: There is a SC in Comber ON, just east of Windsor. From there it is 265 miles to Gaylord. Doable, but close, especially if there is a north wind. To do this one, I should stop off in Bay City for an hour to top up. I can charge in Woodstock, ON and...

How do I get from Toronto to Gaylord, MI?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any chargers showing up on Plugshare for Saginaw or Bay City. I would be happy to bring someone a jug of Ontario maple syrup :)

I don't know much about Crestview Estates. I don't see it on Plugshare. Is that a HPWC?

How do I get from Toronto to Gaylord, MI?

Sorry if I'm being repetitive as I posted a similar question last year, but since there is no Bay City SC yet, does anyone have good advice on how to make this trip. I will be good for charging in Gaylord as my daughter lives there and they have a 30 Amp outlet that I can use (although I will...

    Charging in Victoria

Hope that I'm not too late Lyon, but I'm not a fan of the Empress High Tea. Like you said, very over priced. My wife is from England, and she is not too impressed with the Empress version. However, I think that if you ask, they'll let you charge anyways. They are pretty good about that.

Barrie supercharger to Bluemountain Collingwood & back?

    1. Don't stay at that hotel again. 2. You probably won't need to charge in Barrie on the way there, but I suggest that you do - and charge to 100%. There is some loss of range each day that the car just sits there. Also, the first 20 minutes that you drive home - with a cold battery - you...

    Charging in Victoria

I'll add my 2 cents (CDN) here (about 1.5 cents US). I was in Victoria in late October and we stayed at the Inn at Laurel Point. They have huge suites and great service. They also have 1 HPWC at 40 AMPS. They didn't ask for it, but I always left the key with them incase another car needed to...

    Montreal to Toronto Trip

Most of you folks know more about the car than I do, but there under Settings you can set the Energy Calculation to Rated or Ideal. Mine is on Rated. Also, I was driving the entire trip in Range Mode. Not sure if that is different from how you are setting things. iKhalid: the worst piece of...

    Montreal to Toronto Trip

I have now. I have to say that on many legs of my trip I ended up above the line even when I was going 75 or 80 MPH. Sometimes the original Trip prediction was telling me that I would have a really low charge left at the end (b/w 3 and 5%), but it would often go up over the course of that leg...

Hours to manufacturer a Model S compared to other manufacturers

It is still apples and oranges. You are comparing total labour vs total elapsed time. Also want to know if that 30 hours includes the labour in the major sub-components such as: engine, exhaust system, etc.

It's been a month, do we have any confirmed "autopilot-related" accidents?

It is my firm belief that TACC and AP will prevent many, many more accidents than it can be blamed for. In fact the only way AP can be blamed for an accident is if for some reason the steering doesn't give up control to the driver or the TACC doesn't cancel when hitting the brake or the...

    New UMC?

When mine came from FedEx I called Tesla to ask what this was all about. The real story is that although the old UMC was UL approved, it was not CSA approved - and they asked for modifications. I was told that the new UMC will charge at a slightly slower rate (about 2-3 MPH). I only use the...

    Montreal to Toronto Trip

One piece of Tesla software that works well is the Trip estimator in the energy app. It is really good at projecting how much battery you will have left at the end of the trip. Unlike the range number that you get on the dash, this app takes into account the terrain you will cover and the...

    Michigan Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Thanks Joel and toms, As you note, maybe I can pull it off this Christmas with the public charger in Bay City. I didn't know about it. Port Huron and Grayling would be excellent. As for Gaylord, I can use my daughter's dryer outlet :) But that is all for sometime next year ...

Bay City + Grayling would be perfect. I go from Toronto to Gaylord a few times a year. Even just Bay City will make a huge difference.

    Michigan Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Bay City/Saginaw SC: Not sure if this is the right place for this. I'm from Toronto, but often drive up to Gaylord to see my daughter and grandchildren. Without that planned charger in Bay City it is not practical to go there in my Tesla. Is there a big need in Michigan to have an SC half way...

    Ludicrous Easter Egg

Thank you for re-posting the video. To tell you the truth, as much as I wanted Adaptive Cruise, I hardly use it. The best things I like about my P85D are not the 'me too' features that Mercedes has, but the coolness factors: no centre console, Insane mode (for me), awesome handling, iPhone...

TESLA OWNERS MEET near MARKHAM & RICHMOND HILL area (HWY 404 & Major Mack)

Thanks guys for setting this up. It was really helpful to hear about the long distance trips and from those of you who have had paint protection work. But mostly it was just fun to meet everyone, especially the famous bloggers :) - like not so old mknox. I look forward to the next one - even...

    Why you need paint protection...

Thanks Agloutney, Sorry for your marked car, but I have been vacillating about paint protection and coating, but finally deciding to get it done. I got my PD in Jan. I guess TO winters were a bit milder, but looks like it will be worth the extra 2 to 3K to get this done.

TESLA OWNERS MEET near MARKHAM & RICHMOND HILL area (HWY 404 & Major Mack)

I'm a definite maybe. I live in the city and don't do rush hour any more, so climbing up 404 - even with the HOV lane - is my mental hurdle (used to live in Richmond Hill and did the commute too many times). Is this just a meet and greet or is there a sketch of an agenda? I would love to talk...

Trip Planning - Toronto to Victoria

Thanks. I'm still trying to determine if it's worth the $500 investment to get the adapter. The small $10 fee is inconsequential compared to the 5 tanks of gas for the adapter.

    Canadian CHAdeMO charging

Hopefully not too dumb a question: I am planning on driving extensively through mid western and western US and western Canada in October. Is there any real advantage in having a Chademo adapter for that? Biggest non-SC areas look to be Wyoming and Montana, but not sure if Chademo 'plugs' the...

Trip Planning - Toronto to Victoria

Thanks everyone. The info is great. Re the Quality Inn's non-quality, we like to camp when we can. I would think that there will be campgrounds where we can plug in around or in Yellowstone. Does that make sense? Also, our trip will be in second half of October, so rates should be lower...

Trip Planning - Toronto to Victoria

Poweredbyrain, Thanks for the awesome reply. One way or another I wanted to see Yellowstone, so Wyoming sounds very good. If I hear you correctly, the only non-SC stop could be at Buffalo WY. If that's correct then I'm pretty excited about this trip. BTW, is it correct for me to assume that...

    Tesla Owners in Nova Scotia

This is really encouraging. It wasn't looking so good so we are flying out there tomorrow. But from now on I'll look to drive. I guess I'll need to invest in a Chademo adapter.
