Supercharger - Asheville, NC - 4 South Tunnel Road

Maybe it's in anticipation of Tesla opening a service center in Asheville? Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking. I know that Tesla won't build a service center in Greenville / Spartanburg because South Carolina will not allow them to so Asheville would be the next best place to service...

Supercharger Needed on I-26 in South Carolina - help submit to Tesla

Does anyone know how to make suggestions to the Supercharger team? I regularly travel from South Florida to Asheville and curse Tesla every time when I am forced to divert to Santee or North Columbia. I'm seriously considering purchasing a Chademo adapter so I can charge at 40 KW and top off...

Will Tesla be able to deliver FSD with HW3.0 and current Model 3 sensor suite, ever?

That's an interesting take, but I'm not sure it makes financial sense. There are a whole lot fewer trains operating than there are cars. If every Tesla pays $7,000 and there are currently over 1,000,000 of them on the road, that's $7 Billion of development fees paid to develop self-driving...

Roadie (128gb) for Tesla Sentry Mode

What kind of SD card is in the Roadie? Is it an endurance type card that will last a long time? How many read / write cycles is this rated for?

How much did you pay for your 50 Amp Outlet?

I just read a thread about charging on 120 volt 15 amp outlets and was curious how much all of you paid to install a 220 volt 50 amp outlet? I just built a new house and the electrician charged me $50 per outlet to install five of them (two at the front of the house in the driveway, one for the...

    Powerwall 2 Vampire Drain

I'm finding the same issue on my two Powerwall IIs. I'm really glad to see this is normal. Although it breaks my heart to lose this potential energy, I'm slightly comforted by the fact that I've installed the batteries in my utility room right next to a heat pump water heater so I can...

    A Fart Toy. Seriously?

Sadly, my personal experience has not backed up this hope. They are still terrible and I find myself having to use the manual mode almost exclusively when it's raining.

    Supercharger - Greenville, SC

I have found that when dealing with cities, it is best to walk softly. Often times, there are legal, technical, or permit issues that take time to work through. The hierarchy in government can be maddening to those who aren't in it and their vindictiveness can be brutal. The last thing Tesla...

Navigation line - blue, orange, or invisible?

My blue line has been invisible for a few weeks now. I'd really like to get it back. Anyone figured this out yet?

How to charge between Santee, SC and Leicester, NC - 230 miles

I need to drive from Fort Lauderdale, to Leicester, NC on June 6th. It looks like there are superchargers all the way up to Santee, SC, but then I need to find somewhere to charge between there and Leicester, NC. Just outside of Asheville, NC. 230 miles and a few mountains in between. I have...

Regen discourages coming to a full stop

Brianman is correct. I would like the one pedal experience. I like the variable braking of the current setup. But if it regenerated power stronger and took me to a complete stop, I'd be happier. I don't care if the vehicle uses a tiny bit of power to slow me from 4 mph to 0, they could even...

Regen discourages coming to a full stop

I agree this is the ideal way to stop when you have the time and space to do so. Sometimes, the light stays red longer than you would hope for and you must come to a stop or hit the car in front of you. There is no way around this, currently. If the regen took us to zero, it would be better.

Regen discourages coming to a full stop

I always come to a complete stop at stop signs and I never run red lights. Why the rant? and what makes you think I don't?

Regen discourages coming to a full stop

While I love the regenerative braking on the Model S, I really wish it would take the car to a complete stop. I find myself slowing down long before a red light and hoping it will turn green before I have to put my foot on the brake. At stop signs, I have no desire to come to a full stop...

Elon Tweets - 30 cars catch fire

No, not the Model S. 30 Ford Escapes. Elon just tweeted this morning how Ford has issued their 4th and 5th recalls on the 2013 Ford Escape. His point was that these fires didn't make the news: Ford recalling 2013 Escape SUVs for fire risks | The Detroit News

What other great purchases have you made?

Research shows that we are very bad at predicting the emotional effects of our purchases. Most people think that a purchase will make them happier than it ends up being after they make the actual purchase. This has not been the case with my Model S. In fact, it has far surpassed my...

Is the Model S a "Man Magnet" for Women

My wife gets an unusual amount of interest when she drives my car; so, yes, I think it is a man magnet.

Gas nozzles are starting to gross me out!

I never really thought about it before getting a Tesla. But lately, everyone is telling me how much they hate touching gas nozzles. A lot of my friends have told me that they are concerned that the hundreds of folks handling the gas nozzles at the local gas station may not all have washed...

Help talk me away from the ledge

This forum is probably not the best place to get objective advice. After all, almost everyone here is biased towards the car. Especially after having lived with it now. I'd say that you honestly have all the information you need in order to make a great decision. Whatever you decide, I'm...

2 Brand New Tesla S Sedans for Sale

Bravo. I'm really glad to hear that you are an active octogenarian who is technologically savvy. You must realize that you are a rarity. But to clarify a point, I wrote, "What kind of 80 year old offers financing on vehicles?" not, what kind of 80 year old finances a vehicle himself. I'm...

2 Brand New Tesla S Sedans for Sale

Warning to anyone who buys any cars based on ads like this, BE CAREFUL. 80 year old men, typically don't buy two Tesla Model S's. Here are some questions you should ask. 1) Why aren't there real photos of the actual cars sitting in the garage posted? 2) What are the VIN numbers for these...

    Hill Hold Function

Just brought my new Model S home last night and I really missed the hill assist feature. Here in South Florida, we don't have too many hills, but it would be great if we didn't need to keep one foot on the brake pedal to keep the car from rolling forward or backwards on a slight incline. I'd...

Model S specific home page / portal

I guess I should have written while out driving. I'm usually too busy texting, shaving and eating to mess with a web browser. I might have to leave that up to my passengers.

Tent Camping in a Model S

Gene, I live in South Florida which is a sub-tropical environment. I can assure you that when it is 90 degrees and 99% humid at night, you will not be happier to throw your pad on the ground and sleep under the thunderstorms. I've seen some pretty nifty tents that incorporate the back of an...

N.J. bill will start taxing electric cars per mile driven.

I just looked at my electric bill and 18% of it is taxes. 18%. So now they want to tax me both on the electricity I use plus road tax. That's insane.

Tent Camping in a Model S

Has anyone here thought about or even tried tent camping in a Model S? I think there can be three great advantages to doing this: 1) You can charge your car overnight while you are camping, 2) If you use one of those SUV tents, you could pipe in the air conditioning into your tent and 3) If...
