    Alloy Wheel Repair

I have used Rimpro in Tyngsboro, MA and have been very happy. They are located in a bit of an industrial area, and I think they do a lot of business for body shops, detailing shops, dealerships, etc -- but they do sorta have a retail business too. I would recommend them. (I had all 4 21" Tesla...

    Unveiling on Oct 17th

What you might consider, is that the new hardware is included for free, since you already spec'd out your car. You also (hopefully), configured autopilot. In that case, I suspect they would give you 'Enhanced Autopilot' for no additional cost beyond your spec. That would be a sweet deal if it...

    Unveiling on Oct 17th

I suspect that the automatic charging is for the car to charge itself, perhaps with NO ONE IN THE CAR. Maybe you get out at your favorite restaurant, the car Valets itself to the supercharger while you dine, then parks happily until you are ready for it to pick you up.

Custom 21" Arachnid wheels -- your choice of color

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this -- but if you take 2 sets, put the narrow rims on an S, and the wide rims on an X, you have a pretty good setup. Non-staggered for both, and a bit more tire for the X. The X may need new tires though, since the OD fitment they list is for the S.

Mass Pike getting new EV charging stations

I agree on the not starting empty. One of the great things about charging at home is you don't have to start your trip with the same 'fuel' level that you got home with the night before. I guess my comment was on your simplified choice of wording: I would be worried about the easily...

Mass Pike getting new EV charging stations

Um, 50kw * 0.75h = 37.5kwh * 3.3mpkwh = ~112 miles. At the pike speedlimit, that adds about 2 hours. I don't think people will add in that they drove 2 hours already. With that logic, some gas cars have a range of 1000 miles, if you leave with a full tank, and stop to fill it up once. I think...

Anyone forgo pre-delivery detail when picking up in Dedham?

No. My '13 Tesla got severe road rash over the 3 years I drove it, so I decided to spring for some xpel and opticoat this time. I traded in for a demo car. It looked great when I signed the paperwork and drove away. On the way home it rained. The next day, I went in to the garage and saw deep...

Mass Pike getting new EV charging stations

Hopefully they will put in enough electrical infrastructure, so that they can put in higher power chargers once the marketplace and technology are there. 10 minutes @50kw (ie 10kw) will get you about 30-40 rated miles, probably enough to get you to the next MassPike charger if you are on a trip...

    Aftermarket CF Spoilers

I got a $250 matt CF version from a california shop. There are a few small blemishes that you can feel on the underside, but not enough to bother me. Look pretty similar to the OEM in style, but I haven't installed it yet. It was well packaged for shipment.

    Supercharger - Dedham, MA

I wonder how Tesla is dealing with electric utiliiy Demand charges. At a supercharger site, with lots of stalls in use, I imagine it would be a real factor in the cost of energy.

    Xpel on Cape Cod

Yeah, I hate having to drive an hour in a new Tesla too, especially in the middle of a weekday afternoon when there is no traffic.

Anyone forgo pre-delivery detail when picking up in Dedham?

you will have to do paint correction regardless of whether they detail the car pre-delivery or not. If they detail it, you won't see the scratches they leave behind until you wash off the filler coat they put on. (Ask me how I know). If I had to do it over, I would bring a gallon of distilled...

Nebraska I-80 Supercharger route delayed until 2016

Based on the recent news from the Ruby Tuesdays restaurant chain, and their allusion to more Tesla superchargers showing up at their restaurant locations - I'll just point out that there is a Ruby Tuesday restaurant in North Platte NE, Grand Island NE, and Kearney NE. I wouldn't be surprised if...

Nebraska I-80 Supercharger route delayed until 2016

I think Kearney has a pretty good-sized substation near I-80 (next to Casey's General Store), so there should be plenty of power available there. Grand Island is I think the 3rd largest city in Nebraska (behind Omaha and LIncoln), so it would be a good choice too.

    Tesla Cape Cod!

The Grand Opening event was well produced. Amie and I made it to the event and had a lot of fun. They had a multi-coat red S, and a black X out front flanking the door, and an S parked at either end of the pedestrian mall with DRLs on, providing thematic interest. Entrace had several employees...

Nebraska I-80 Supercharger route delayed until 2016

Thanks for asking: I would be traveling from the Boston, MA area to Thedford, Nebraska (north of North Platte, on Highway 2). I could take the I-90 route, then head south from Murdo, but I'd rather stay south and do I-70 (or, if I'm lucky, I-80)

    Knoxville Supercharger Not Working

That makes sense, I didn't check distances, or the final route of the OP. It is hard to believe that 12 miles/hr is the best that can be found. Since there isn't a service center close by, you couldn't drop by and see if they have a HPWC available, or a Chademo adapter for sale. I agree with the...

    Knoxville Supercharger Not Working

I don't know if any Tesla owners near you have a Chademo adapter you could borrow, but there looks to be several Chademo locations in Knoxville (you should consider purchasing a Chademo adapter if you do road trips frequently in this area. It looks like they are adding a lot of new stations)...

    Snow tire woes

I have found used Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2s for 2 seasons. I find them to have squishy sidewalls, and with the hard stud like bits in them, they are noisy. I think they are one of the best tires I have ever used for snow covered/icey roads with a RWD. (I keep mine at 45psi to help firm them up...

If the M3 is your only vehicle, what about 3 month+ repair delays...

Keep in mind for repair times for a Model S (not much history of the Model X yet), there are those repairs done by the service center, and those done by outside repair shops (body shops). Since the car body is mostly made of aluminum, there aren't that many shops to do the repairs, and Tesla...

    Leaving headlights on

Another thing I have done is after getting out of the car, use your foot to 'start' it (but don't sit in the seat), you can then close the door and lock the car (I used the phone app). Stuff will stay on (including headlights) for 30 minutes I think

    Tesla Referral Program

I'm upgrading my Model S, and finalizing my order next week for an inventory car. Insurance for Model S in Massachusetts

I currently have Liberty Mutual for my auto coverage (including my Tesla). I haven't had a claim, so I can't speak to any details around that, but the rates are competitive. Auto adjusting screen brightness fights you

I did that the first day. It was in night mode when I was leaving my garage during my morning commute, and in the evening, it was so dim I couldn't discern the Nav Traffic. I'm not sure who the feature is targeted towards. The only time I could see it working for me is if I'm driving on rural...

Nebraska I-80 Supercharger route delayed until 2016

They are still interested in a Tesla, and enjoy driving mine when they visit. I think the price and charging infrastructure are the blocking issues at the minute. I expect a pre-owned in their future once there are superchargers along I-80 in Nebraska, so that they could actually go somewhere...

    Supercharger - Burlington VT

This is sad. You would assume that Tesla is getting *better* at choosing where to site their superchargers, especially since it takes so much capital and time to install them. A small strip mall parking lot seems like an immediate red flag, regardless of the support of the owners.

Why production Model X may be months away

The Model X ramp is looking very similar to the Model S. We even had a price change. The 60s (and 40s) where not produced until later. If that is what you wanted, you had to 'defer' you reservation. Hell, you couldn't even get red paint or coil suspension. until after Q1 of 2013. One thing that...

Slightly off-topic perhaps, but regarding head-in versus back-in superchargers -- I actually prefer the look and use of back-in chargers, but I prefer the ICE deterance of the head-in 'stalls'. question on charging rules in Massachusetts

The chargepoint chargers that my workplace installed have a 'fee' of $1.00 per session. Session length is not enforced, but the expectation is that a session will not be more than 4 hours. My workplace is in Massachusetts, so a 'per session' fee is another option.

Auto Air Suspension Raising can be annoying

I have found a solution that works for me, but I don't have that many places where I want an auto-raise point. Since when has government been efficient or long-term thinking in how they spend money. That being said, I think this is an amazingly great idea. Off Peak Rates in Massachusetts?

Hi Jack, I wonder if rising electricity costs gives room for the solar PV companies to offer less attractive deals.
