Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

Didn't work for me. The basket on the JL 10TW3-D4 is too large for the opening of the sub enclosure. It's all good, I think the NVX sub sounds good. The only thing I need to address is getting a hole in the rear deck lid so that I don't have to have the seats folded down for better bass...

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

Interesting. I have a 10TW3-D4, I wonder if it would make a difference if I replace my nvx sub with this JL. The 10TW3-D4 is a dual 4 ohm sub which is the same as the NVX sub so I think I should give it a try and see if I notice any difference like you have

Great find, exactly what I was thinking. Doesn't look too bad to changing it out

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

Anyone have any suggestions for getting more bass response in the cabin with the rear seats up? I have noticed if I have one side of the rear seats down, bass sounds much better. I did read somewhere that the 2020 has something missing in the rear deck compared to earlier versions so there must...

Very interesting,. I have had zero issues with radio interference. Where is your amp located and wonder if that has anything to do with it. No issues here at all, as long as you follow what others have done. Everything I did can easily be removed and not look like anything had been done if I...

12v battery issues with aftermarket subwoofer amp. Not covered under warranty PSA.

Good to know. I really wanted to do a dual sub setup inside the cubby in the trunk, but that requires fiberglass work, which I'm no good at, and I knew I was getting into the arena of possibly creating errors going with a larger amp. I know there are many out there who are running dual subs so...

Couldn't agree more on the putting something on the rear bumper after taking off the seal - I had the same problem. I placed the amp and LOC in the cubby underneath the oem sub and amp and it works great because they are sitting against the frame so they don't overheat. I wanted to do a...

12v battery issues with aftermarket subwoofer amp. Not covered under warranty PSA.

Similar to Rmchrger, I am running a NVX XLCA2 Line Out Converter (LOC) that gets signal, power and remote from the factory sub amp location. From the LOC I have a remote wire that runs to a NVX VADM1 (500w rms class D) amp that powers a NVX 10" sub. The amp gets power directly from the...

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

No errors at all. The closest to any issues I have had is that if I push it too hard for too long, the entire audio system shuts down, but turns back on within a minute. Otherwise, I beat the heck out of the sub and works great so far

    12V not turning off?

I ended up getting some lights from RPM Tesla that you connect to the wire harness of the lights under dash that light up floor. That way the lights turn on and off when the door opens and I can turn them on while driving through the console if I want them on.

    Sleep Indicator Light?

One thing I have noticed is that if you open up the Tesla app (Tezlab and stats app are another ones I use) it will tell you if the car is sleeping. If you close the app fast enough after seeing that it's sleeping, the car won't wake up. At least this is what I have experienced. Side note, I...

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

It looks like I did, but I did the same as NVX. Only difference is that I removed the oem tape and loom so that I could tap into the wires lower down on the harness, but I had done it the same way NVX shows in video and the diagrams..

That's rather interesting. Didn't ever cross my mind to port it. How did you determine the port size/length? I don't even really know what the internal cu ft is for this sub.

I have attached an updated picture with some notes on current tune. I am also using the bass knob attached to the VADM1 amp. This is actually much nicer addition because I can easily fine tune the sub so if I want more or less. I did notice that the bass knob is specific to the VADM1 and the...

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

Yesterday I decided to re-tune the amp a little. I was solely focused on having the amp play 50hz and below. I also adjusted the gains on the audio settings to +8 because when set there, the door speakers and factory sub sound the best and I wanted this sub to compliment the rest of the system...

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

Not certain if normal, but I noticed that my amp was super hot yesterday even when it hadn't be used. Chalked it up to it being interior being over 100 degrees so thinking that was the problem

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

Whelp. I learned yesterday that if you push it too hard/listen too loud, the whole stereo shuts off. Luckily if you turn it down, it all comes back on. I was pushing it pretty hard and had the volume around 80% up (I like loud music at times). My plan is re-tune it so that I don't overwork...

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

Been playing with it a little more. Since I installed it, I have been running the gain in the audio settings around +4 on the MCU. For fun, I decided to fold down the seats and what a difference. Sounds so much better and I had to drop the gain down to +1. Only thing with the seats down is...

I think there is only 2 amps - 1 in the front of the car and 1 in the rear. I think the front does all the pillars, doors, front dash and rear deck and the amp in the rear does the sub.

Good call, forgot to mention that in my post Before I started I rolled down all 4 windows, opened all 4 doors, the frunk and trunk and left them all open for the entire installation. Update on my jack nut - the gorilla glue worked like a charm. The jack nut is in their solid so I was able to...

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

Yesterday I completed my install. I would say the "hardest" part was the jack nut. I used a step up drill bit and made micro adjustments, but the hole became just a tad too big. I used gorilla glue to glue it in place, but only time will tell if that worked. Here is what I did for my...

I'm still trying to determine the same thing. I plan to begin the install this weekend and I plan to put the amp and LOC near the factory amp and I'm hoping there is a way to access them to fine tune the gains w/o having to remove a lot of the interior.

Annual license plate renewal fees - how much in your state?

I'm the same. I'm for the mass transit, just not how they are handling it, both financially and construction wise. Seems like it's going to take forever, like the construction near the Tacoma dome as that's been going on for a decade lol

Annual license plate renewal fees - how much in your state?

$845 here. I live about 45 min south of Seattle. I have to pay $225 for electric car and $500 something for our new mass transit tax

What size are the wires at the oem amp for power, ground and sub? Was going to order some Posi-Taps to have on hand just in case. I am going to try the military splice where I break the jacket and solder new wires onto oem wires, but if that doesn't work I want the Posi-Taps. I was thinking I...

My only un-educated guess is that maybe it's because the subs are either a)firing in different directions or b) subs are of different size

Good write up CoolBuddy. I will reference it a lot when I go to install mine. Just because I haven't gotten my kit yet and curious, what is the jack nut used for? Is this for mounting the sub enclosure into the car?

I just ordered the kit from NVX. The group buy coupon code did not work, but somehow someway there was a fluke in their system and they gave me $108 off so I took advantage of it and got the kit shipped for $611. So exciting. I plan to run both subs when I wire it all up in hopes that I can...

Another subwoofer option - NVX Audio

It's a dual 4 ohm subwoofer. If wired in parallel it would be 2 ohms or if wired in series it would be 8 ohms so i'm pretty sure they would wire it in parallel to get it at 2 ohms

I haven't heard back from NVX, but Sonic Electronic states that there are instructions included with the kit on how to wire up the kit, which wires to tap and a bracket to install the LOC next to the oem amp. Not certain if this is accurate, but that's what the emailed me back.

Long time lurker, but following this thread as I was about to pull the trigger and purchase the NVX kit. One question I have is from all the research I have done is that you need a battery isolator and a 100w resistor. In the video from NVX, they didn't install one of those so do you need to...
