Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
This was the first update that had me searching for how to downgrade.
I have a 2020 SR, no Autopilot, no FSD, and the only thing this update gave me that has a direct impact on my day-to-day use of the car is a shrunken map display (my favorite feature of the screen) and a shrunken speedometer...
Ooh, nice catch! The Don's Market lot at the 78/79 split has had L2 for the past few years, most recently just a shared 6.6 kW ChargePoint unit, but when I was last up there a month or so ago the unit was powered off and the preceding few weeks of PlugShare reviews said it had been like that for...
Turns out I misremembered the details of the post so I only have the two summary screens from the night, but the first is just about halfway through the trip. Started from 100 percent/206 indicated miles and ended at 58 percent/120 indicated miles after a map-verified 65.2 miles of travel...
More questions than answers after a charge up to 100 percent. I'll let it sit here for a couple hours to let the BMS get a good capacity reading for a benchmark, but this is a wildly optimistic number given my recent history.
All good points. Much as I’ve been told we can trust the BMS to deliver accurate readouts, I’m going to take it up to 100 percent overnight, and I’ve got some work errands to run at a few places around the county tomorrow so I’ll see where we can get. I’ve set another service appointment to see...
One month and roughly 1,000 miles later and it's definitely only continuing to get worse. Photo linked below was on a little San Diego County loop starting from 90 percent in basically perfect weather conditions, properly inflated tires, and a mix of city and highway driving averaging 225 wh/mi...
For my US case, a few days after setting up my appointment I got a text message from Tesla inquiring as to the nature of my appointment (I replied back battery degradation and range calculations) and had a quick reply back asking when I'd have time for a call. I took the call a few minutes later...
A follow-up for those interested: I had a call with Tesla service earlier this week where virtual diagnostics confirmed I'm at 12 percent (!) capacity loss after five months and 5,100 miles. Tesla's expectation is that capacity loss generally reached 10 percent and settles out, but that usually...
Fingers crossed this is the case. If not and current trends continue, at least I'll be easily eligible for a new pack within warranty, as much as I've been hoping to avoid that for environmental reasons.
Sure – no other SR/SR+ drivers over there at last check, though: ABRP Battery Degradation Comparison Post / Poll
This is helpful info too, thanks! How many miles are on yours now?
I jumped in to the ABRP degradation thread with this, but this seems like it might be a better place. For a data point, I have a March 2020 build SR with just over 5,000 miles, and ABRP is showing 7.5 percent degradation and 44.4 kW capacity. That seems steep, but is corroborated by a recent...
Thanks for the data point. Maybe it's me being paranoid, but I just scheduled a service appointment so they can take a look.
I made a 140-mile round trip up north and back on a hotter day last weekend, and after leaving home at 100 percent I pulled into the supercharger near home at 11 percent...
Excited for this one – it's been encouraging to see Vermont pushing adoption of fast charging but CCS has a big lead over the Supercharger network. Thinking hard about road-tripping back home to Albany for the holidays, and this opens up options for a trip up to Burlington to see friends...
While you make good points here, it's clear that the original setup with the single electromechanical control is deeply flawed. The wipers are a safety-critical system, and controls have (to varying extents) been informally standardized across the industry – whether moving a stalk up or down or...
Excellent! Dropped by last week to see if it was finally ready, but no luck.
Curious to see how much traffic this ends up getting. It'll be great on the trip down to Valle de Guadalupe, but it doesn't intercept any of the main freeways in and out of San Diego to the north or east. Might just...
Just had to pay $14 to the CA DMV to un-suspend my registration on a car originally registered three months ago.
Tesla Insurance originally issued a policy for me with the wrong VIN – disconcertingly, they say that's a common mixup with Tesla's vehicle ordering and assignment practice – and...
I'm in the same boat and I'd be curious to hear what you hear, please update us once you get an answer!
If the delta winds up being $2,000 over my SR for Autopilot alone and ~$2,990 for Autopilot, more range, and more power, that's a pretty clear-cut choice.
Adding another data point, using an iPhone 8 and the latest iOS, on 2020.20.12. I haven't experienced it placing my own calls over Bluetooth, but on two occasions after receiving a call and disconnecting. Both times weren't with the native iOS phone app, but with the Cisco Jabber app for work...
The timing probably has something to do with this: Confusing User Interface And Poor Communication From Tesla Leaves Driver Stranded On Road Trip
It even sounds like although your account shows that you had remaining miles, they had already expired on the backend and you'd be getting billed...
Did a search and the only result was this thread that's been dormant for a while, but as a new SR owner I'm curious: If the SR is just a software-restricted version of the SR+ with identical hardware, what's the source of the efficiency disparity? Is that something anybody can speak to?
I can't...
I got two with my 2020 SR, the original full-format version on my passenger seat with a little adhesive remaining around the edges listing my car as a SR+ with Autopilot and FSD, and a second corrected 8.5" by 11" calling it a SR with neither.
I think I got one of the last pre-COVID-19 shutdown cars. Absolute base SR, pearl white over black on Aeros. Ordered 3/12, VIN 3/22, delivery to SoCal on 3/26. Production is listed as March 2020 on the door sticker, and the original window sticker said SR+, so I wouldn't be surprised if I just...
