My HPWC just quit also. I would like to get another 80 amp charger too, so I guess either another Gen 1 or a Gen 2. I’m worried about scams if I try to buy one from a general search. Since we’re basically in the same boat, can you let me know if you have any success finding one? Thank you.

You don’t think at some point the motor might seize or something, if the noise is from bad bearings? If it’s just noise I’ll live with it, but I worry about more serious trouble down the road, literally. I live in Louisiana and am unaware of any independent shops in this part of the country.

I'm having the same issue. I am able to set it on the phone app, but not in the car. I'm hoping there might be an over-the-air "minor fixes" update on the way soon to restore this to the charging screen menu in the car.

You may want to reconsider returning so soon though. I'd advise waiting a while longer if you can.

Unfortunately the hotel has closed. Last time I was in the area I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express just off the interstate. There is a little coffee shop not far from the supercharger, Java Shack on 9th Street, but the hours are limited: open Mon-Fri 7-5 and Saturday 8-4. Really good coffee...

Is anyone close enough to check and be sure the chargers are actually on? It certainly sounded like it from the e-mail I received but it's too far for me to go test it myself any time soon. I certainly hope I didn't pass on mis-information.

I think they are but can't say for certain since I haven't traveled the length of them lately. This evening on my way back from Slidell I avoided the Acadian Thruway underpass just in case, but driving past on Perkins I didn't see any roadblocks so I think it's open.

I'm here charging now. All is well. Short term advice only for those coming in from the east -- if your car wants to detour you off the interstate due to traffic, probably best to follow your car's advice.

I just got the Tesla e-mail invite for The Electric Road Trip. It says events will be "hosted at one of our Destination Charging partner locations" and the location for Memphis is the Peabody Hotel. So -- maybe you did talk them into it.

Thank you for contacting them. Even if they don't pursue installing HPWC's I think it's good to spread the word and raise awareness that there is demand for them.

Maybe the frequency/history of flooding near the site (proximity to a waterway that sometimes rises to or above flood stage) or long term flood predictions for a given area? Just a guess.

I guess if you're spending the night it doesn't make that much difference. I'd like to see more businesses like restaurants or small shopping centers with destination charging, for shorter stops when you don't want to stay overnight.

Hope so! Beautiful old hotel, that would be a nice stop. On a trip north in May 2014 I charged at Shelby Farms Park Conservancy in Memphis; very nice place (free, solar powered) but only a J1772 charger so I was there most of the day.

I think CSFTN is right, they will put up some kind of veneer over the cinder block. I kept a pretty close eye on construction of the Baton Rouge supercharger and the enclosure in this pic looks like BR before they finished it so I expect them to do the same thing here. I know they're not...
