Tuning/Alignment, 21's with tire wear and 19's (my experience)

Hi All, One purpose of this post is to give recommendation on alignment in east bay. I used AutoRND in Fremont. It's owned by a fellow named Rishie. He's got a race background, and was quite knowledgeable (and taught me quite a bit) about the MS tuning. It's almost all adjustable except...

Wheel Alignment Check in the Bay Area

808, I had an excellent experience at AutoRND (fremont). The owner (Rishie) knows a LOT about tuning and taught me quite a bit. My car drives insanely well, and the stock tesla alignment may be suboptimal for wear.

How many speeding tickets since getting your Model S?

11 months, 12K+ miles. zero ... but more importantly, haven't had one in last 23 years, and about 250K miles. For me, might be the driver rather than the car ... hehe.

So just how reliable is the Model S?

11 months, 12K+ miles. Reliability has been 100%. Minor fixes for few issues (resolved rapidly). It's been a GREAT car ... best one I've ever owned.

Questions about charging in "charge stopped mode"

Hi All, I did a search on this, but wasn't able to find an answer. Does anyone know the precise state of the car when you are in "charge stopped" mode. More specifically, when the car is plugged in, but charging is stopped (manually and the charge port color is blue), will the car draw any...

"The End Of The Suburbs" effect on Tesla demand?

As self driving vehicles move from experimental to commonplace, I wonder if it will expand suburbia? The largest tradeoff with suburbia (among several) is the commute for many people. Self driving vehicles may both reduce stress and accidents. But as vehicle technology gets better, it may be...

Tesla Service experience & P85+ vs. P85 summary of my experience

@ David_Carey & vgrinshpun, This makes a lot of sense. I suspect it was the perception of acceleration rather than objective difference. Thanks much for the expertise!

Tesla Service experience & P85+ vs. P85 summary of my experience

Hi All, Post is twofold (and long). Just wanted to give my experience of my recent service experience and quick review of P85+ vs. P85. Summary - Wow! (details below) I had a number of minor service items that I needed to get resolved (slight body panel adjustment to make it flush...

What did you drive before getting the model S and why did you change?

honda civic hybrid. 160K miles. Great car, keeping cuz it still runs well. Switched after borrowing my friend's Tesla Roadster for a week. I am not a car guy, but that thing just took my breath away. I put down deposit about 3 years ago on MS, never looked back.

Would you give up 'extras' to go from S85 to P85?

Hi Barbja! If you like/need the tech items/gizmos/etc get those and stick with S85. A lot of stuff you can do after market at a later date too (2-3 years from now if you like when you accumulate more cash pile). Lots of people have changed rims/tires to 20's, kept the base stereo and had...

Tesla S - Daily Driver or Second Car?

daily driver, split with wife. Sux when i have to use the ICE. We have a 3rd car for snow in mountain trips (AWD subaru). That has gotten less than 1000 miles in 8 months. When TM comes out with AWD model S, will trade in P85 and sell subaru, to have just 2 cars.

    Lack of buttons - annoying?

I recall when apple made the first iPhones, people said it wasn't possible to sell a phone with one button only. Tesla has designed a clean, efficient interface to match the internal and external decor. If you want additional buttons, I suspect you could glue or stitch them on and twirl them...

    Is that a Jaguar?

A few months ago, I was stopped at light (Mission & Warm Springs) and a guy rolled down his window and asked me what kind of car it was and who makes it. I responded Tesla and he said he's never heard of it. I was going west bound onto 880 North (in fremont). As you make the turn, there is a...

    Back to 242

I had quite a similar experience. For the 1st 4000 miles, would regularly get to 242 - 244. Then for next 1000+ miles when charging, it would get 239 max. I took the charge down to about 10 miles left, and did a proper 90% charge on a NEMA 14-50 (instead of HPWC) and voila, back to 242-244...

Roadster to Model S adapter for HPWC

It was $650 + tax (a little over $700 total). What I'm willing to entertain anything that seems fair. It's in pristine condition and was used for 2 months. What do you think is reasonable?

For sale - 1 lightly used Roadster to Model S adapter (used for about 2 months while waiting to have new HPWC installed). Works great on the older HPWC if you have both roadster and model S. Can also use at some places around SF Bay area with the old roadster HPWC (at Fremont Service center...
