Durely the claim is made when Tesla enter the VIN onto the PIVG portal. Hence just after you order the car. I would believe the gov.uk PIVG User Guide Manual, rather than any self-protection disclaimer published by Tesla

Tesla register your VIN number on the PIVG portal shortly after you order the car and they can tie the VIN to a customer. Hence you will get the £3500 grant. There is another active thread discussing this.

They only need to enter a VIN onto the portal. The car itself doesn't need to have been built yet. The first part of the VIN contains the manufacturer and model, where it was built and which year, eg Tesla, Model 3, LR, 2020. It is only the last 6 digits that change for each individual car...

Thanks for clarifying. I was understanding that more was needed - something to do with staring at a page that talked about completing my info - for far too long. I now have, today, the final invoice and Tesla never did need me to complete further info... or was I just imagining the complete...

@Mr Miserable Tesla did manage a quick turn-around on a stock vehicle for one lucky person - see his earlier post. He filled in the documentation immediately and they aplied for PIVG. Of course, if Tesla are still working now, it might be ok .... :rolleyes: Maybe they are, if it is coordinated...

No. Not until they have your 'documention' so that they can tie the car to a customer and create the 'contract' That is a requirement of the PIVG Portal. See my earlier posts. Basically, once your Manage page says 'preparing contract', they can apply for PIVG

I don't think a £5000 odd delivery is believeable ! (for Performance) However Elon is free to make anything an option so as to reduce the base price. eg AutoPilot

Hence, in my understanding, Tesla can't enter the vehicle into the portal until they have the contract and the customer details for that contract. ie once the Documentation has been filled in by the buyer. Hence Inventory cars wouldn't help unless we had a few more days grace. I am sure Tesla...
