3G internet connection drops on Model S

Same here. Same issue in the same area. I have had the Sunnyvale SC team working on this for the past few weeks since the issue began for me. They expect a patch to solve it in the next week or so. Apparently the issue is that for some reason, the car drops the connection to the main AT&T...

Rear Wheel Drive P85 is a Missed Opportunity for Tesla

This! Bring back the P85 power w/o the added D cost / AWD.

Huh. Extended warranty without Service plan?

Not necessary. I have an email from George Blankenship just prior to purchasing my ESA which states that no service at all is required to maintain either the 4yr/50k factory warranty OR the 8yr/100k ESA.

Tesla warranty now has 8 year/infinite mile battery & drive unit warranty retroactive

For those who purchased the extended warranty, why shouldn't it then become a 12 year unlimited power train warranty and an 8 year, 100k warranty on the remainder of the car?

    200k Powertrain Warranty

Totally agree. I was pitched on the uber simplicity and reliability of the drivetrain and do believe that is fundamentally true despite some of he hiccups with the recent drive unit replacements. Fix any issues and back that with a long term warranty statement given the recent issues and I and...

    200k Powertrain Warranty

A 100k powertrain warranty would be a game changer. A 200k powertrain warranty would be a massive game changer and huge selling diffetentiator. I too believe this is essential for Tesla to mitigate long term repair concerns particularly in light of the drive unit replacements especially as...

    Is the P85 too fast/powerful?

Not quite true, a 2103 SLK AMG tried to outgun me to a merge from a stoplight today. He lit up his rear tires which screeched like a teenage girl at a Beeber concert but it was no contest. Did not even look over at me at the next light when I pulled up next to him (yes, I shut it down at five...

Black Tesla w/ Black Forgiato Wheels

Looks great. I am also thinking of doing an aftermarket 21" wheel and keeping the OEM rubber/specs. Can't bring myself to go to 22s. Nice choice.

    "Navigation System is Initializing"

Thanks jerry33. Already rebooted once but will do so again and see if it helps. I believe the first reboot did help with latency but it has returned again today. Will reboot again.

    "Navigation System is Initializing"

Same issue with Nav initializing. I have been on 1.59.44 for a mont +. Lately, every task via the touch screen and scroll wheels seem to hesitate and delay...much like the CPU is overloaded as stated above. No recent updates so not sure what brought this on!

Public service announcement for P+ owners

I posted the details below on another thread recently. This is applicable and may be the only solution to the staggered set up wear issues. No doubt Tesla will not do this for you but your independent shop most likely will as mine did. ----------- For what it's worth, with spirited driving, my...

Suspension settings and camber - Saving rubber

For what it's worth, with spirited driving, my 21 inch Continentals have made it to 14,000 miles with fairly uneven wear. The inside is a mm or so away from the wear bars but the outside still has over half the tread remaining. I have been very diligent about the tires - check pressure...

So Far So Good 22" Vossens PICS

Looks great. I am thinking about those same Vossen wheels. How is the ride on the 22s? That sidewall scares me a bit however. Can you contrast it with the 21s?

Acceleration Whine Caused by gears, not motor

Service told me the same last week in that the balloon squeal is not the inverter but rather the contracters in the main pack. They were optimistic that they could have a fix for it relatively soon which would make my day!

    Buzzing at low speed

+1. Right there with you. Not a fan of these noises which I keep being told are all "normal". I have the low energy buzz, heavy acceleration balloon whine and the low speed clunking gear lash when easing on and off the accelerator under 15 mph. The only one I don't have is the drone at 70+...

for those who didn't purchase Studio Sound: what upgrades have you done?

Have you made tone adjustments with the EQ? I agree that the factory settings lack depth and promote WAY too much midrange. Increase the bass and treble and decreased the midrange. This made a HUGE difference for me. Also, fading to the rear helped improve the soundstage. Also, search...

    Buzzing at low speed

I now have the same buzz as well. Perhaps related to 5.9 as it has never existed previously. So, lets see, I now have the low power buzz, the gear lash clunk (when easing on and off the throttle at low speeds), and I have the ever so lovely high-pitched balloon squeal under heavier...

Reversing camera turns off when menu is displayed

I have never experienced this issue. When Homelink pops up while I am in reverse, the camera frame adjusts down about a half an inch and remains active. When Homelink disappears, the same video frame move back up to it's original location and remains active.

New Rear Liftgate Sunshade on Tesla Store

Well, for what it's worth, mine did not ship in the small pouch all folded up, but rather fully flat in a plastic bag which I picked up from the service center. It literally installed in seconds with a little bit of fiddling to get it perfectly aligned. I envision keeping it in permanently as it...

New Rear Liftgate Sunshade on Tesla Store

Interesting Chris. With a some gentle effort, mine fit in the trim gaps with zero wrinkles and looks very factory. I have not noticeed any distracting light effect and the visibility out the back window via the mirror is much better than my merceds powered shade. I am very happy and keeping mine.

    The high-pitched whine during acceleration...

My P85 was silent under max acceleration for 2-3 months. Then the balloon squeal began. Now it occurs at a lower kW than it originally did. It most often occurs when there is more weight in the car - 4 adults. That is of course when the passengers also ask (with a befuddled look on their faces)...

Drop-In Center Console now in the Tesla Model S online store

I have really been on the fence on this one. Was planning to add the console and am on the wait list but have really become accustomed to the yacht floor and the open space. First world problem.

Interior wood trim - Now available in horizontal grain

Interesting. I have the Carbon Fiber trim so no dog in this race but I always thought the vertical wood grain was an interesting and different approach which I was initially not so sure about. After seeing the vertical grain in pictures for many months, now the horizontal grain would seem to...

Very glad to hear that. You seem to have it worse than many. Please keep us posted on the resolution.

    Yacht Floor

Am I late to the party or did they just raise the prices again?! Carbon fiber, last I looked, was $800 and it is now up to $950. I recall when this was first announced, it was quoted to me by the SC at $500. Would have bought it then but they only had Obeche in stock. Anyhow, if the flooring is...

NHTSA Tire issue reported on Tesla 21 Inch tires

Sorry to say, but 21s wearing to the cords by 5k miles on the extreme inside edge where many owners do not notice/cannot see IS an NHTSA safety issue. It is well documented and far too common and it needs uniform resolution. Love my P85 but my 21s are on a similar path, Tesla alignment and all...

Poll: Does your Model S have the "High pitched Whine" under heavy acceleration?

Yes. Mine started at 500 miles and continues today at 4,500. In my case, it is louder and more pronounced. I don't at all mind the slight normal whine of the motor but the baloon squeal under heavy load is most annoying. I am hoping for a fix. It is not normal. I trust the engineering team will...

    Black leather and carbon trim

Not sure why the pics did not show. Trying again with two here. Of the two attached, the dash pic is a bit washed out. The pic of the armrest shows the color and depth of the carbon fiber a bit better. Regardless, go to this...

    Black leather and carbon trim

It is a great combo. Neither too light nor dark. Classy yet sporty. It is quite hard to photograph it well. Attached is the best pic I had on file from when I researched it. The areas left of the steering wheel and near the armrest shows the best with the least glare.
  39. J

    Added a little carbon fiber.

I would be in as well for both pieces at that price point.

    Tire replacement at non-Tesla shop?

The TPMS may very well know which wheel is on which corner but as others have pointed out, it is not exposed to us nor does it seem to care which wheel is where. I just rotated my 21s front to rear myself and there is no error whatsoever.
  41. J

    Added a little carbon fiber.

I for one would be interested in that kit. Can you share any details with us?

    Added a little carbon fiber.

That looks absolutely stunning - and at a very reasonable price! I believe dennis is the member who first had real carbon fiber applied to his rear diffuser. I have seen it in person at it looks equally great. I have been wanting to do the same but am not sure where to even start tracking...

Where to put jack stands on Model S?

Those jack stands look pretty good. I had this same issue for tire rotations. Bought a second floor jack and use both on one side at a time to rotate the tires front to rear. Works well.

Really need help cleaning screen and dusting the dash

Odly enough, I can clean my touchscreen at will with a folded over microfiber cloth and no issues whatsoever. BUT, god forbid I wipe the top of the dash in any location. If I do, the touchscreen freaks out and the seat heaters turn on, along with the front and rear defroster and the temp...

    Yacht Floor

I am truly on the fence between the forthcoming center console and the yacht flooring. I am Definately doing one or the other. The carpet has to go. Plus my wife spilled her cafe late on it and it has not been the same ever since ;-). The most useless waste of money either way, but sometimes...

California DMV - Plates & HOV Stickers

Thanks JPP. I am "going low" then with the placement on the rubber/plastic trim. It just seems to me to be cleaner looking on a dark car and I would rather have to replace the stickers if they begin to peel vs having them applied to the painted aluminum panels.
