SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Lol, my estimated delivery is now “TBD”. Ordered December 2021 and arrival date was May 2022, then June, then August, and now this. Tesla probably has little reason to fulfill it since the MSRP is $7K less than it is today.

Has anyone driven both an SR+ and new RWD Model 3?

I’ve had both, a 2021 SR+ LFP (September 2021 build) and a 2022 RWD (November 2021 build). The 2022 car feels slower off the line when you floor it, almost as if they’re reigning in the power. At speed, I can’t tell the difference.

Lease early termination with zero due?

Correct, there's no way to get any equity back in a Tesla lease.
  4. E

Lease early termination with zero due?

Your cost to terminate the lease early is zero because Tesla is taking the $9,456.83 in equity that you'd otherwise have, if you were able to trade-in the car to a dealer. Sadly Tesla cancelled third-party buyouts in November. It's never a good idea to lease from Tesla due their restrictive...

Model Y SR - Order cancelled 11 months later

I ordered a Model Y SR on January 9, 2021 and have been waiting for 11 months. Today, I was informed the configuration I ordered is no longer available. I went to "update design" and my only option now is to pay $19,000 more for the long-range Model Y. Bt clicking "update design", I also...

Model S seats in model Y?

They're supposedly based on the same seat frame to reduce cost. Wonder if they'll bolt right in. Love your YouTube channel, btw! Your videos were very helpful for changing the brakes on my 981.

Headlights Still Rated Poor In IIHS Tests

Are the tail lights crappy because they still fog up, or do they lack in brightness or features (not adaptive, etc.)? I've noticed the LEDs in the center high-mounted stop lamp in Model S dating back to 2012 light up unevenly. The LEDs vary in brightness. Looks cheap.

Headlights Still Rated Poor In IIHS Tests

Anyone know if Model S headlights were updated with the refresh, or are they the same pieces? They look visually the same to me (LED reflectors). https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/Tesla/model-s-4-door-hatchback/2021 Low beams that don't reach 200 feet on the driver's side is a dealbreaker.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Now that SR+ is dropped, I wonder if Tesla will indefinitely postpone delivery of cars ordered at $39,990. If you want a car, then you have to upgrade to the new "Model 3" for $4K more, since SR+ has stopped production. I still have the mythical $39,990 Model Y SR (no ETA, ordered February...

Safety Score after initial 7 days

In hindsight, it seems pointless to request FSD so early without knowing if Tesla will follow through on releasing it to the general public (or, rather, owners who bought FSD). Now I feel like I can't drive "freely" indefinitely -- always thinking of my safety score to the point I'll use my...

How long did it take to get your plates for my Southern California Owners

They do touchless deliveries now. You find your car in the parking lot, log into the app to sign final paperwork and accept delivery, and that unlocks the car. Key cards and DMV docs to sign are inside the car. You drop off the DMV paperwork in a physical dropbox in the parking lot. There were...

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

Here's the pics. Rear bumper cover and A-pillar "triangle" trim not fitted properly. Not driving the car for now to keep it under 100 miles. Earliest service appointment is three weeks from delivery. The rear doors have large gaps, but not going to complain because I can't imagine them fixing...

How long did it take to get your plates for my Southern California Owners

I called the DMV and they still don't have any record of a vehicle registration application being submitted. It got the car two weeks ago. Tesla does everything in Tesla time -- very frustrating. I couldn't get a hold of anyone at Tesla. Their Buena Park location does not pick up phone calls...

Roughly seven hours remaining til 11:59 PM PST. Maybe Tesla is releasing it on the very last minute of the day -- unusual practice for any business, but Tesla is a different kind of car company.

    OFFICIAL BUTTON WATCH

Super excited for today's REQUEST BUTTON! I've had FSD on my M3 Dual Motor since I bought it Dec 2018, including the FSD supercomputer which was installed in 2019 (or was it 2020?). https://cleantechnica.com/2021/09/17/elon-musk-tesla-fsd-beta-button-going-out-next-friday/ Looking forward to...

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

Got my September 2021 build Model 3 yesterday. Rear bumper doesn't seem properly installed. There's a gap that I can push back into place temporarily, but when I let go, it comes loose again. The other cars on the lot didn't have the issue. At the contact-less delivery, the Tesla employee said...

    Current Delivery Times

@LATimes -- which dealer did you sell your TM3 to? My showroom car came with some finish defects and I'd rather order a new one. Looking to sell it to a dealer to get out of the lease.

Current Unfilled MYSR (standard range) Orders

I'm in the same boat. Ordered a base SR Model Y in February, no ETA. Tesla Store says production stopped around May/June, so who knows if I'll ever get mine. I don't imagine my vehicle is a priority for Tesla, since they'd rather sell high-profit cars with $10K FSD.

    SR Model Y Delivery

I ordered mine February (or was it March?) and still haven't received an estimated date or VIN. I submitted my info online and was approved for credit and everything. Sales advisor says all I can do is hope and wait they build some more Model Y SR cars.

Is the front plate required in California???

The idea of not properly displaying your license plates while driving or parked on a public road because "I don't like how it looks" seems bonkers to me. Front license plates are important for identification purposes (hit and runs, etc.) so I'm not surprised the Highway Patrol and local...

    $7000 Tax Credit in 2021 - retroactive?

Tax credit is pointless right now since Tesla (and practically all other car makers) is supply-constrained. Tesla is selling all inventory cars with $10K FSD for a reason, because they know there are people willing to pay more to get a car sooner.
  23. E

Model Y order - my VIN just got stolen [Update: Original car had defects so Tesla wouldn't deliver it]

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if, during the end-of-quarter, Tesla pulls ordered VINs that do not have FSD and to sell those as inventory cars with FSD added, given the current car shortage. I'm sure there are tons of people willing to pay $10K more to get a car immediately, without having to...

Blog IIHS Test Pushes Consumer Reports to Award Top Pick Status to Model 3

Too bad the IIHS AEB pedestrian rating is only the second-highest "Advanced" rating rather than the "Superior" rating, whether with the camera-only AP system or the previous combined camera plus radar system. In the crossing child 25 mph IIHS test, impact speed is only reduced by 5 mph with the...

Standard Range Model Y Currently Unavailable

I'm in Southern California and ordered a Model Y SR five-seater in February 2021. Still haven't received it. At this point, should I just cancel it and get my $100 back? Doesn't seem like any Model Y SR five-seaters have been produced for a while.

Is MY Demand down in US because people are waiting for restoration of the federal tax credit?

Prices will certainly go up once the tax credit is reenacted. Makes sense to time this with vehicle upgrades to justify the increased MSRP. For example, replacing the MY SR with a MY SR+ that costs $4,000 more and gets 260 miles.

    Model Y Standard Range Delivery

Would love to know how it goes! Curious about build quality because these were likely built towards the end of Q4 2020. And curious what the ride quality is. Hope Tesla retuned the suspension to account for 500 lbs lower curb weight.
  31. E

Model Y standard range is here

Anyone know if the suspension part numbers are different between SR and LR AWD Model Y? I would hope they've retuned the dampers and springs to reflect the 500 lb weight reduction. Otherwise, we're in for really firm ride quality...

Tesla Advisor: Price increase on Model Y coming

Good idea. I'll place the reservation deposit to lock in current prices, and wait and see how the RWD Model Y is priced. There has been some precedent with Tesla using pending price increases as a sales tactic -- Autopilot and FSD price hike, for instance -- and in those instances, I think...

Tesla Advisor: Price increase on Model Y coming

I got a text from my Tesla Advisor encouraging me to get a Model Y "while the prices are discounted." I asked for clarification, and he says: "Discount meaning that the Model Y is $3000 less than normal at the moment. I'm not sure when it will go back to the normal price (nobody does). But...

Reverse made my car go forward...

Another possibility as to why the car rolled forward the first time, but not the second time is that you abruptly let off the brake pedal on the first time, as opposed to gingerly releasing the brake pedal the second time. The car in creep only provides so much torque. When you let go of the...

Reverse made my car go forward...

Wish Tesla would do what BMW does for the i3. No creep, no rolling backwards or forwards (unless you're only a really steep slope). I think it applies current to the motor to keep the car stationary. Vehicle comes to a complete stop with regen too.
  36. E

Car rolls backwards in drive with creep on and flat surface

Once you tap the accelerator, hill hold cancels and the car starts rolling back if you don't apply enough accelerator input. Somehow BMW was able to get the i3 to *not* roll back (well, 99% of the time... it might roll back on a super steep hill) without hill hold engaged or creep. I think it's...

Adaptive dampers with coil springs, please. The current setup is a bit busy for folks coming out of non-sports sedans.

Car rolls backwards in drive with creep on and flat surface

This was one of the reasons why Model 3 wasn't right for my parents, who are in their sixties. After reversing out of my driveway, my father didn't fully engage "D" (pushed the stalk too lightly), so the car was still in "R". When he let go of the brake, the car starting rolling forward (I live...

    Firmware 2019.12.1.2

I get that too. Forward collision warning is set to "moderate", but parked cars trigger the warning every time I drive up my hilly and moderately curvy street, which has cars parked on the side. Never happens with the FCW systems on our i3 and E-Class.

New lease terms: now $2,000+ less (5/3/19 and later)

Breaking Down Tesla's New $399/Month Model 3 (In-Depth Analysis) Looks like those who leased a Model 3 last month should have waited for this month. It's now $2,000 cheaper over the course of the lease. The lease rate went from 6.5% APR to 5.79% APR. I think it'll keep getting better, maybe...

Does this mean I have HW3? (Center Display UI)

A Tesla advisor looked up my upcoming car (VIN316XXX) on their system. Under Center Display UI, it states: "feature/das-HW3-M3 #53484 (82596dc on 2019-04-02) Built: 2019-04-03" Obviously I have no idea what that means, but the inclusion of HW3 is interesting. The car's build date is 4/9/19.

Seats starting to crack after 2 months

Best way is to change the way you enter and exit the car. Use your left hand to brace yourself against the door sill as a support to gently lower yourself into and out of the car. Don’t crush the side bolsters with your weight. The vegan leather material is very thin and delicate, and shows...

    Vegan “leather” chipping off

Model 3 seats aren’t wearing as well as I thought. Normally synthetic materials like MB Tex and BMW Sensatec have an advantage over leather in durability, but the material Tesla uses is fairly thin. The softness of the seats further compounds the issue.

No rear autobrake? (TFL Long-term Model 3 crash)

I wouldn't say it's impossible. My mother managed to back into another vehicle, even though her car had parking sensors. A guy who was reversing at a traffic light (to make room for a U-turn) hit me allegedly because his foot slipped off the brake. Sometimes people have sensor and warning...

No rear autobrake? (TFL Long-term Model 3 crash)

TFL’s long-term Model 3 DM was damaged when one of their staff members backed into the edge of a wall. Here’s the video they just released about their experience so far getting it fixed, along with an interesting AWD roller test: What surprised me is that Tesla does not appear to have rear...

Will referral program void return policy?

The current return policy states that a purchased vehicle may be returned only if the vehicle "has not been the subject of any submission or application for any available incentives or perks." Does the referral program count as a perk? If so, might be a good idea to forfeit the 1,000 miles of...

Did Elon say that all new cars being made have HW3 now?

Tesla has a habit of abandoning software improvements to vehicles with old hardware. Even without FSD, I wouldn’t be surprised if HW3 keeps improving TACC, Autosteer, blind spot detection, etc. The current blind spot detection, as displayed on the screen, is laggy and doesn’t work as well as...
