Holy Smokes! I went shopping after saying yes to one person, found three more offers! Must be the cheap price. In any case, sold to @Roadster. Thanks to all.

    Roadster Parts for Sale Listings

Found under some other stuff in my garage: Spare Mobile Connector. Charges at 110V at 15A. Used once only, when Tesla sent the wrong plug adapter for the UMC when I first received my Roadster. For sale: $100 if you pick it up (Fairfax, VA), $150 if I have to mail it to you. Certified check or...

    Door release breaking

To be clear, Tesla has it - it's gone:( I need to find out how to get them to pay for it, it's signed over to them.

    Door release breaking

Well, it's been over six weeks, no check from Tesla:mad:. The guy who said 4-6 weeks is not helpful. The person who made the buyback offer has never responded to me at all. I am wondering if anyone has any contacts at Tesla or advice as to next steps. I'd greatly appreciate any input. Very...

    Door release breaking

Can Sr. is now spoken for. The other items remain available. A little side note: Tesla finally told me, after over a week of me asking where my check was, that they take 4 - 6 weeks to pay out. Kind of tacky to not reveal that upfront, in my opinion.

    Door release breaking

I went to Tyson's in N. Va., but that's not very relevant, since NONE of the SC know how to do anything but replace with refurbished parts, no matter what the problem is. That's why I decided to sell it back to Tesla - if they knew how to repair it would have been different. Way too much hassle...

    Door release breaking

They said they tried that. Error messages were # 409, 981, 1067 and 1085

    Door release breaking

I'm very sad to give this update: Tesla wants to replace the PEM. Over $9,000! I don't think they even know what's wrong with it. BTW, they wrote the estimate showing it needs a 1.5 PEM. Can't even tell the difference between a 1.5 and 2.5? Wow. It's been a wonderful 7 years for me, but I...

    Door release breaking

I have a rather discouraging update: Tesla has had my Roadster for over two weeks now. They now say that they think it's the PEM. They're STILL "waiting to hear from the engineers" who are in CA. They've now dropped the PEM, and didn't check the SOC before doing so, much less charge it up first...

What have you done to your Roadster today (or lately)...

I used a bit of toothpaste, applied with my finger, followed by soap and a bit of water. Got it all off. Not a quick process, but no risk of a solvent getting onto something it might damage.

    Tried to search for this...

Sorry, are you saying you have to turn off regen to turn off the "assistance items"? Last thing I'd want to do. I just want to have 100% control of my driving.

    Tried to search for this...

Hi all, I tried to search, but I can't seem to find out if it's possible to turn off ALL the automatic driving features. I don't want my car steering, braking or doing anything for me. Is it possible to just drive a Model 3 "old style" - i.e. with complete manual control, no automatic anything...

    Door release breaking

Well, Tesla's preliminary diagnosis was the 12V. My original appointment was for the 20th, it just didn't make it that far. I'm just really hoping this is all it is.

    Door release breaking

Update: I now have error messages 409, 981, 1067 and 1085. I was grocery shopping, and when I went to leave, I got the messages one after another, and my Roadster would not go into drive. It's now towed to the SC, of course. Does anyone know (as I'm desperately hoping so it won't be megabucks)...

    Door release breaking

Good idea, but when you unlock with the key fob, that already powers it up. Also, the passenger side is fine.

    Door release breaking

Has anyone had their door release start to malfunction? Mine has become very unreliable; mostly when the door has been locked. Sometimes it opens part way and I have to shut it fully and try again, sometimes nothing happens for several tries. It's definitely been getting worse. If I leave the...

    Charging the Roadster

If your battery was over 30°, the coolant pump running overnight would use up more than just a few percent, so that would potentially be the need for a "top off".

Caution - Annual Service - Car power-down - GPS issue

Well, last night I joined the club. My Roadster was connected to the wall unit (long since done charging) when there were some brief brownouts and outages for a few seconds, several times. When I disconnected from the Clipper Creek, I got the "bing, bing" and there was fault #3001 again (which...

    Hello, World

There's a fun thread of owners taking pics of people taking pics of our Roadsters - so next time take advantage! Have fun, and enjoy your Roadster. I frequently have great conversations with people interested in my Roadster, and use it as an opportunity to advocate for EVs in general.

    Clear Tesla Roadster Washer Pump

One of the frequent causes of this problem is lack of use; bacteria can build up and clog the line. Simple solution is to use the washer maybe once a month, even if you don't need it, just to keep things flowing. (I learned this the hard way)

1.5 still getting 188 to 185 on standard charge

I have nearly 40K miles on my Roadster now, am getting 176 - 178 (std) in the still chilly weather. CAC 149. I've only range charged 3 times, charge at 240/24. I suspect that my Roadster, which only had 1K miles when I got it at 3 years old, was kept in storage mode and got way out of balance...

    Roadster Service E-Mail

I would suggest that you get the direct email for your service advisor. I had luckily saved that address, and have had no trouble getting parts, information and appointments through direct communication with that person.

    AC Heat; air distribution control

When I got my Roadster back in 2013, I asked Tesla to do the footwell duct upgrade, but they said there were no more parts to do that. Maybe someone who's parting out a wrecked Roadster?

    Roadster 3.0

Let me clarify.... It has been difficult to get an appointment without driving there and speaking to someone in person, but I haven't needed anything since before the email most of us got giving us a point of contact. We'll see how that goes. As to the quality of service, the fact is fewer and...

    Alert 3001?

Hi all; for the second time in as many months, on unplugging in the morning, I hear the double beep, and when I look the VDS is black (expected). Looking at the Recent alerts, I see it is #3001 SHFT: APS Voltage. If relevant, I plugged in for a standard charge the night before. Doors not locked...

    Shipper Recommendation

My CPO was delivered by Plycar, (Tesla's choice back then). Excellent service.
  32. S

    Touch Screen

Also, why lock the car? I know locking while charging turns off the charge port LEDs, but after unplugging?
  33. S

    Touch Screen

Correct me if I'm misinformed, but don't you have to stay plugged in for the battery to balance?
  34. S

    Touch Screen

Even if nothing is running, if you are plugged in (and therefore the charge port is open) the screen will stay on.

Roadster Service E-Mail Poll and info

Exactly. I used that address to ask for the official email we're talking about (which I got two weeks later), but I also mentioned some mistakes that were made on my last visit, and got an immediate, direct response from the service advisor, inviting me to come in for them to correct the...

Tesla Chief Designer Says Roadster is Evolving

I'm hoping it will evolve into a proper Roadster (ie 2 seats - look up the definition of a roadster), which would make space/weight for a retractable hardtop. And a normal steering wheel, please. Add in adjustable suspension height so it can be my daily driver, and I'm getting really interested...

    Roadster Service E-Mail

Just got the email. Mind you, I sent an email asking about it (and also mentioning a couple of mistakes made during my last service) two weeks ago, so that may have something to do with it.

    Body Shop Central Virginia

My experience with Dorn's was absolutely horrendous. Granted, it was a couple of years ago, maybe, maybe they have improved, but I would never, never recommend them to anyone for anything. They promised a number of things about how my Roadster would be treated, such as what would be painted...

    Roadster 3.0

My two cents: no point in having a new 3.0 battery, no matter how good it is, if the service on the rest of our Roadsters is done by newbie techs who have no idea what they're doing. Assuming you can get an appointment, that is.

    OVMS Module and Cooldown

I've been leaving my trunk open during charging/cooldown to keep the PEM a bit cooler; not sure how much it's really doing, but the air above the PEM feels pretty warm. Certainly can't hurt....

    Owner change & [email protected]

I agree; I had to get new TPMS sensors, and they refilled the tires to 30 psi in the rear as well as the front. Plus they did a "courtesy" refill of the windshield wiper fluid, and did not put the filler cap back on, which led to the washer not working - no pressure. This is just basic stuff!

    Brake switch: help requested

That's interesting... they told me they couldn't order just the switch, only the whole assembly.

    Brake switch: help requested

If you mean the brake light switch, it is part of a whole assembly that includes the brake pedal (crazy, I know). Mine was replaced recently; the invoice reads Pedal Box Assembly; Switch - Brake Lamp (2000226). As it was under my ESA, I'm afraid I don't know the price. Best of luck!

ExtendView Side Mirrors -- outstanding visibility

I would suggest using a good quality silicon glue like GE II instead. Much better than pressure adhesives, IMO. I attached convex mirrors with it on my 2001 Prius and after 17 years when I finally parted with it they were still on, firm as ever. You don't need to apply but the slightest...

    Roadster Forum Thread Reorganization

I agree, I like things the way they are, but a separate marketplace would be nice. A separate section for history would be interesting, and maybe repair and maintenance, as we face less and less support from Tesla in the future. But I don't like the other divisions that we see for the S, X, and 3.

Considering upgrade to adjustable suspension - need your input

I had Tesla set the the front sway bar to the outermost hole, the rear to the middle hole, and the shocks to the softest for the front, next from softest on the rear shocks. Been happy ever since. Mind you, as others have noted, it still is a quite firm ride. You really feel the bumps, joints...

    Somewhat odd battery behavior

So, I'm perplexed by two things I've noticed more than once... One, on completing a standard charge, sometimes the ideal miles go up by a couple of miles, an hour or two after balancing was complete. Recalculating so late? Secondly, although it balances to the cells being within .03 volts as it...
