Can Sr. is now spoken for. The other items remain available. A little side note: Tesla finally told me, after over a week of me asking where my check was, that they take 4 - 6 weeks to pay out. Kind of tacky to not reveal that upfront, in my opinion.

I went to Tyson's in N. Va., but that's not very relevant, since NONE of the SC know how to do anything but replace with refurbished parts, no matter what the problem is. That's why I decided to sell it back to Tesla - if they knew how to repair it would have been different. Way too much hassle...

I have a rather discouraging update: Tesla has had my Roadster for over two weeks now. They now say that they think it's the PEM. They're STILL "waiting to hear from the engineers" who are in CA. They've now dropped the PEM, and didn't check the SOC before doing so, much less charge it up first...

I used a bit of toothpaste, applied with my finger, followed by soap and a bit of water. Got it all off. Not a quick process, but no risk of a solvent getting onto something it might damage.

Sorry, are you saying you have to turn off regen to turn off the "assistance items"? Last thing I'd want to do. I just want to have 100% control of my driving.

Hi all, I tried to search, but I can't seem to find out if it's possible to turn off ALL the automatic driving features. I don't want my car steering, braking or doing anything for me. Is it possible to just drive a Model 3 "old style" - i.e. with complete manual control, no automatic anything...

Well, Tesla's preliminary diagnosis was the 12V. My original appointment was for the 20th, it just didn't make it that far. I'm just really hoping this is all it is.

Update: I now have error messages 409, 981, 1067 and 1085. I was grocery shopping, and when I went to leave, I got the messages one after another, and my Roadster would not go into drive. It's now towed to the SC, of course. Does anyone know (as I'm desperately hoping so it won't be megabucks)...

Good idea, but when you unlock with the key fob, that already powers it up. Also, the passenger side is fine.

If your battery was over 30°, the coolant pump running overnight would use up more than just a few percent, so that would potentially be the need for a "top off".

One of the frequent causes of this problem is lack of use; bacteria can build up and clog the line. Simple solution is to use the washer maybe once a month, even if you don't need it, just to keep things flowing. (I learned this the hard way)

I would suggest that you get the direct email for your service advisor. I had luckily saved that address, and have had no trouble getting parts, information and appointments through direct communication with that person.

When I got my Roadster back in 2013, I asked Tesla to do the footwell duct upgrade, but they said there were no more parts to do that. Maybe someone who's parting out a wrecked Roadster?

Even if nothing is running, if you are plugged in (and therefore the charge port is open) the screen will stay on.

My two cents: no point in having a new 3.0 battery, no matter how good it is, if the service on the rest of our Roadsters is done by newbie techs who have no idea what they're doing. Assuming you can get an appointment, that is.

I've been leaving my trunk open during charging/cooldown to keep the PEM a bit cooler; not sure how much it's really doing, but the air above the PEM feels pretty warm. Certainly can't hurt....

I agree; I had to get new TPMS sensors, and they refilled the tires to 30 psi in the rear as well as the front. Plus they did a "courtesy" refill of the windshield wiper fluid, and did not put the filler cap back on, which led to the washer not working - no pressure. This is just basic stuff!

That's interesting... they told me they couldn't order just the switch, only the whole assembly.

If you mean the brake light switch, it is part of a whole assembly that includes the brake pedal (crazy, I know). Mine was replaced recently; the invoice reads Pedal Box Assembly; Switch - Brake Lamp (2000226). As it was under my ESA, I'm afraid I don't know the price. Best of luck!

I would suggest using a good quality silicon glue like GE II instead. Much better than pressure adhesives, IMO. I attached convex mirrors with it on my 2001 Prius and after 17 years when I finally parted with it they were still on, firm as ever. You don't need to apply but the slightest...

I agree, I like things the way they are, but a separate marketplace would be nice. A separate section for history would be interesting, and maybe repair and maintenance, as we face less and less support from Tesla in the future. But I don't like the other divisions that we see for the S, X, and 3.

I had Tesla set the the front sway bar to the outermost hole, the rear to the middle hole, and the shocks to the softest for the front, next from softest on the rear shocks. Been happy ever since. Mind you, as others have noted, it still is a quite firm ride. You really feel the bumps, joints...
