    Firmware 5.8

I also have this, but only when the brakes are wet when I park. This is due to the fact that the car locks the brakes when parked. Most people do not use their parking brakes, but put the car in park, using the transmission. I have similar problems with my ICE cars if I use the parking brake...

    Firmware 5.8

I use a 120V outlet at the airport. It takes about 36 hours to top off, but I am gone at least that long. Since I am plugged in, my charge port is open, so it wouldn't matter if someone pushed their button.

    Firmware 5.8

You are right, the center was instant and it was the instrument that took a few seconds. I know what I meant, but that's not what I typed.

    Firmware 5.8

Very happy this morning. Only lost 1 mile overnight with 5.8. Did not wake the car up at all, and when I went out it only took a few seconds for the center screen to wake up and be ready to drive.

    Firmware 5.8

I have been stuck on 4.5 and even called about it this week. Just went out to the garage and the update was ready. Installing now!

    Firmware 5.6

I talked to service today, and they told me 5.6 is a controlled release. They are monitoring the cars that get the release for bugs. It could be another 3 weeks before I get it. Nothing I can do to push the download.

Why Tesla roadster owners can't charge at new free station

It is not throwing them under the bus. They bought the car without the promise of supercharging. I bought my 60 without supercharging, since there is only 1 location in my area and I almost never go by there. For $2000 I can buy a lot of electricity. If my situation changes, I can always add...

Is it just me or does everyone want to race a tesla..

Really?? First off, it has happened to me in my "60" and I bet most people don't know the difference from a distance or can even read the little number on the hatch lid. I hope I'm reading you wrong and this wasn't arrogance about the size of your "battery"

    HVAC Temperature Settings

I do hear it, and can replicate it manually, so I guess it is working. My problem is the display. The fan will go from 4 blades solid to 2 solid blades as the fan ramps down. The outside air will not go to the circle mode to indicate recirculate unless I manually change it. My other cars, I...

    HVAC Temperature Settings

How do you know its in recirculate? Mine also drops, but the display seems to always say outside air. I will have to look at it carefully.

    HVAC Temperature Settings

I have the same issue. I find your screen shot interesting. If the car thinks it is 80, why is the fan so low? I don't think the sensor would make any difference in this situation. I wonder what is driving the climate control in this case. I also have complained that the car doesn't ever...

Charging in Upstate New York (or maybe Vermont)

$2, $5, subsidized equipment, none of that should matter. It's not about the cost, but about supporting those that support the EV industry. It needs to be a symbiotic relationship for it to thrive. We shouldn't expect free charging anywhere if we aren't supporting those that provide it.

Charging in Upstate New York (or maybe Vermont)

Why shouldn't they charge for guests? It will cost them about that to run the 70A load. Not sure what the bulk of people would draw; mine can only charge at 40A, so do like Blink and $2.50/hour, but something. I think that we should pay for electricity if we are not supporting the business...

Charging in Upstate New York (or maybe Vermont)

It is Valet only, but you can go into the garage below the hotel and plug in the car yourself. You do need your cable, but I always carry mine on trips. The Valets are all very nice and have no problem with you going into the garage.
  16. M

    Firmware 5.0

I agree that the number will drop by the time driving, since the car is not sleeping and all systems are powered up. But not during charging. If the car goes to sleep, the power needed to charge the battery will drop by the decrease in the vampire load during the time it is plugged in.

Charging in Upstate New York (or maybe Vermont)

I just got back from a weekend in Stowe, VT. We flew, so I didn't have my car, but I asked the valet why there were no charging location near by. He said they have 2 Tesla charging spots in the garage. I asked to see them, and he took me down. I then posted it on Recargo and they thanked me...

P85 Loaner Governed at 80 mph

If they can do this, why can't we set a limit in our cars. Valet? Children? Etc.
  20. M

    Firmware 4.5

It does, but not instantly. If you watch the screen, every minute or so you will see the traffic update and change. When you first go to the map, it has stale data. If you just cycle the traffic icon, you will get fresh data.

    Charging at 208v

I agree, just put the 14-50 in. Very inexpensive and will get the job done at 8kW. I have that at the airport and it works fine. Just the fact that he wants to do this for his visitors is enough for me. No reason to over engineer the solution.

    Unplugged by another S owner...

I would have done the same thing as the OP. If you are plugged in...Charge. If you had done that, when the OP unplugged you it would have been no problem. Don't set an alarm to move the car when done, just get your charging done when you get there. What would you have lost, 5 miles by...

Tesla battery swap: Post announcement discussion

Does anyone know if this would include supercharging with the 85 pack? I have a 60 w/o supercharging. I would absolutely swap for an 85 pack on a road trip if I could then use supercharging and swap back for my pack on the way home.
  24. M

Tesla battery swap: Post announcement discussion

Yes, You can get your original pack back when you return. They will most likely add the pack to the storage grid, but not give them out. They need packs anyway and they are getting free use of our packs while we use the loaner. Also, this way your original pack is charged and ready to go when...

Odometer historical kwh total not inclusive of vampire load?

Not sure why you think the odometer is misleading. It accurately reflects kWh used on the trip meters and miles driven. Both working when the car is on. If you run the air or heat with the car off, the kWh will not change. If you tow any modern car, the odometer does not change. You could...

Tesla battery swap: Post announcement discussion

You are right, but the idea is the same. I have only taken 1 road trip a year, if that, for the past 10 years. If it is more that a 2 or 3 hour drive, I fly. I can easily make the 3 hour drive with my 60 and charge at the destination.
  27. M

Tesla battery swap: Post announcement discussion

You are forgetting that the 60s do not come with supercharging. I chose not to pay the $2000 for it, since when I travel, I fly. I did ask about using the supercharger once for a road trip and paying for it, and the answer is no. This would allow me to take the rare road trip, and at $99, I...

Odometer historical kwh total not inclusive of vampire load?

This is true, but it also does not include vampire load. If you look at any of the trips and then leave the car unplugged for 1 or 2 days, the range will go down, but the kwh used will not go up. It is truly kwh USED, not lost.

Any Charging Places Near Penn State University?

I have contacted 5 Nissan Dealers and 3 said no to charging my Tesla. The other 2 said "any time." I went on recargo, and other charging sites, and marked the "No's" as permanently closed and put a comment that it is only for their customers. I think we should do this when we get that info...

Generating 220V from 110V on the go or in a host garage overnight

The only way this would work, is if you could find 2 different 120V outlets that are on different legs of the 240V feed. Then, if you had an adaptor that plugged into both 120V outlets you could pull 240V X 12A or 2880 Amps. You would have to use a 240V plug from Tesla and make sure that you...

MPGe -vs- MPD : The Real Figure of Merit?

If you open the door of the car before you disconnect the charger, the dash will show how many kWh were replaced. It is not only charging looses, but idle loss. It might be 47 or 48 kWh in this case.

Tesla store opening in King of Prussia, PA

I was also there. They did a great job and the hors d'œuvre were great. Good luck at a great location. They also added 5 more charging stations to the 2 at the mall near Nordstrom's. The 2 at Nordstrom's are J1772, and the Tesla ones are 2 HPWC, 2 14-50s, and one Roadster unit. Thanks again

Measuring the Total Energy Consumption of Your EV

I just got my car and did not plug in the first night since I wanted to see the vampire load. It started at 100 miles left when I parked and was down to 94 in the morning. 6 X 300w is about 2kW. Then the next day I stopped at a charging station and took 10.8kW partial charge while I was at an...

Becareful when planning to charge at RV Campgrounds.

Most RVs are all 120V. They have 2 banks of 120V circuits, but none use 240V. That is why the wiring would work for them, but not us.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I'm confused. My reservation number is 326470. This doesn't look anything like anything I see on this site. My delivery window is April/May, but it seems like all of the numbers are much lower than mine. I am looking at the wrong number?

EV charching at PHL airport - it's here!

I fly a few times per year and use Smart Park. I would change to PreFlight if they had charging. I would need to be sure it was available otherwise I would drive an ICE to the airport.
