Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
I picked up my car today! Here is the outline of what went down.
I got to Tesla Lawrence about 20 minutes before my appointment and was asked to sit and wait as my paperwork was being printed. A guy came out and called me about 5 minutes prior to my appointment time and we started to review the...
I had a J1772 L2 station on the side of my house that I put in to use with my Volt, I decided to swap it for the Tesla HPWC because I just don't want to deal with the adapters and I need to cary my mobile connector with me to charge off 120V at work. Swapping from 5-15 to 14-50 every day is also...
FYI two 2020 SR+ Inventory cars popped up in the GTA on the web this morning, both listed as new with some KMs on them and noted as "fleet vehicles". Plus a couple LRs.
I just asked my Delivery Specialist to put through a request to RBC today because of the 3.75% rate just posted. Just got a 3.6% approval back for 96 months. Much better than the Soctia 3.87% rate previously on my account.
Sorry to hear! Well this at least helps me justify in my head not getting anything other than the Pearl White. Seen too many examples of their paint not being worth paying extra for.
I feel a bit of general unease, but if everyone panics over this thing the economic damage is going to be many times worse than the virus itself. I am going ahead as normal and financing it.
Same, but I see them as "battle scars" lol. I may go buy a new set while they still make them like this with the raised letters and put them away for when I am forced to retire the old GVA plates, but I just don't want to give them up, will probably hang them on the wall when that time comes.
I am trading in, but I had to drop off the plate portion of the ownership because I already have Green Plates on my Chevy Volt (that are low numbered (GVAF) and at least in my head give me "early electric vehicle adopter" status and want them transferred to the Tesla.
Nope, no email back yet.
Well speaking of refreshing my page like a madman, I just did it again and my VIN is now visible on my account page, no longer just in source code. Still no contract yet though.
I was only there to drop off the plate portion of my ownership. Delivery is still March 5th. *Fingers cross it stays March 5th, I have been refreshing my account page like a madman every day since I heard people's were getting delayed at Lawrence*
Logged in this morning and it still says March 5th, but no contract/agreement yet. Sent my Delivery Adviser a follow up email, will see where that goes.
Its getting more real, the mats and everything have arrived from Amazon and I picked up a HPWC yesterday to replace the J1772 L2 charger that...
So weird, we have the identical config except for FSD, same VIN date and nothing has changed for mine. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen to me. You would think they would all be coming in on the same train.
Well I think I'm getting closer to having a contract. Lots of back and forth over email today with a delivery advisor and they asked me to drop off the plate portion of my ownership at Lawrence which I did tonight. I asked the guy who was in the store tonight if he could give me any insight on...
I have a VIN and a March 5th delivery but no contract. I know for sure though it is held up finalizing my trade all over again (new value and balance on lien). I had a delivery specialist reach out to me yesterday to get all the necessary information.
I also learned I have to call Scotia after...
Has anyone had experience getting Scotia to change payments to bi-weekly? Tesla just told me they can only initially set up the loan for me as monthly which is a headache for me to budget for because I get paid bi-weekly.
They said it should "not be a problem" for me to call them and have it...
Did you have a trade in that needs to be updated/reevaluated? I haven't received an MVPA yet and I have a feeling that is whats holding it up. I sent my contacts a new photo of the mileage and the new outstanding balance but its crickets so far.
Well unless I'm late or you are early we probably won't cross paths, 12:30 here. Hope your delivery goes well!
I'm still debating if I want to wear the Tesla Jacket I was given for Christmas a while back. I have never worn it out for fear of looking like Joey in Friends when he had the Porsche...
He is probably mistaken or there are multiple waves of delivery expected. The text I got was from he same 508 area code as every other text directly from Tesla, going to have to assume they know more than the sales advisors in store. Haven't dealt with the guy you talked to unfortunately. Been...
I followed the link in the text message I received this morning and that was the earliest date it was allowing me to select. Anything earlier was greyed out.
Edit: Who did you talk to at Lawrence?
I was happy to buy a car with 200 miles of range (320km) when that was being discussed as the minimum for a practice full BEV. So I am more than happy with getting 400km now as the base model.
Well you do get AWD and a full premium interior too.
But at the end of the day I agree with you. If those other things aren't important to you and you are only thinking about range, as a Canadian that money needs to be fairly disposable to you to make sense spending it just to get 100 extra km...
Agreed. Us Canadians have it kind of hard. Everything costs 35% more and the same jobs sure don't generally pay 35% more in our dollars at least in my industry. If I lived in the US and had the same salary in the US the AWD LR would be a no brainer at $48,990, hell, I would actually buy a...
Awesome! Although I’m a little sad for no text tonight, was looking forward to what it might say tonight what with the VIN showing up in the morning.
I have to assume if we have a VIN the next text will be to schedule delivery.
True, but the series of text messages I have been getting had me thinking delivery would be close to the end of March and I wouldn't see a VIN till sometime in march. Seeing a VIN now indicates I might see the car within the next two weeks.
Ordered a SR+ White/Back/18 w FSD on 1/1/20 - 5-8 weeks
Text #1 - 1/24/20 - 3-5 weeks
Text #2 - 2/6/20 - 4-6 weeks
Text #3 - 2/13/20 3-5 weeks
The first one came on a Friday and the last two have come consistently on a Thursday evening for two consecutive weeks. Hence were all expecting...
Well i got a text tonight saying 4-6 weeks making my deliver window March 5th to 19th. A little disappointing considering I got a 3-5 week text Jan 24th making my window back then Feb 14th to March 6th.
I followed up with my SA who said a bunch of her customers got the same text pushing out...
Yup just got a 4-6 week text. SR+ White on Black, 18 Aero w/FSD ordered Jan 1st. I'm a bit disappointed because I had received a 3-5 week text two weeks ago!
I unfortunately don't have that to fall back on, I'm coming from an older electric car so I went through that part of the process years ago. So I'm just going to continue driving myself crazy I guess.
Same! Shes been pretty helpful so far. I can't believe how late in the day she still responds to emails, I was back and forth with her at something like 11pm for a bit.
Yup, I just think I got FSD and you opted no right?
Judging by this though it looks like LR AWD cars are coming in, hopefully that means the line is switching to SR+ now.
I am going to be one week away from the text delivery window as of this Friday. And Feb 28th would be the last day of the window I got. Still no VIN. I just want it to show up so I can stop obsessively checking for it multiple times per day.
