Wing/side mirrors stuck folded and RHS door handles not presenting

Ah sorry everyone for the lack of follow up. It was, of all things, an issue with the driver doorhandle. Apparently various electrics run through the same circuitry, and when the handle went it broke those circuits (or something like that). The door handle was replaced, and everything then...

Model X adjustable rear camber kits - anyone with UK experience, is it worth the cost/hassle?

I picked up a 17 MX P100DL a few months back, and very rapidly discovered the "shudder" under acceleration issue with it. I now run the car at low suspension constantly, and this has rid me of the shudder, but I understand that this then introduces a different issue; significant rear camber that...

    Navigation/connectivity issues - Model S MCU1

Sorry to bounce onto an older thread, but I've been having similar issues with first my 2015 MS (which I sold a month or so ago) and the 2017 MX that I've replaced it with. Did this ever get resolved for you? Interestingly this has not affected either my wife's old MS (2015) or her newer one...

Travelling around Paris - East/West and charging?

Thanks for the heads up - I think I'll drive slowly to Folkestone then to ensure I've got enough battery for the extra distance to Boulogne-su-Mer

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

Yep AP1 with MobileEye - if they disabled the radar I doubt the one camera would be able to do much at all! Still, LIDAR/RADAR error aside, it does work very well at staying in its lane and reacting to obstacles.

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

    True - my mistake.

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

I've always trusted HW over SW - my 2015 MS doesn't have the fancy features, but it drives nicely on a motorway, LIDAR very very rarely has false positives causing unwarranted breaking so I have a high level of trust in it. It does take an age to change lanes via the indicator stick to the point...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Is there any reason you wouldn't export the excess solar via SEG? We're basically doing mostly the same as you, but exporting the solar at 12p, living off the PWs for day-time use, and charging the car with the overnight 7.5p. In the winter we'll keep all the solar (however much that will be)...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

I can understand the charge limitation, but if you're not exporting to the grid I don't understand why the DNO should have a say on what you do with your electricity once it's beyond the meter and how quickly the PW can discharge into your consumer unit. Bloody cheek of it!
  13. H

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

I didn't know this was an option. I've been making the PW work via changing the "charge by" and % charge manually each evening for the past week - have now turned off the "smart charging" option. Sort of surprised that they allow this as surely this is the only reason they'd offer a lower...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Is the 3.68kw the charge from grid limit? After our recent install we seem to be able to charge at full whack (10kw over 2 PWs). I'm asking the installer to ask the DNO whether we can export to grid, but hope that doesn't somehow raise our heads above the parapet such that they ask the import...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

That's a nice use set up - just got 2 PWs for my solar (1 year waiting list) last week. We're on IO and I'm charging up the PWs, DHW & 2 MSs @7.5p kWh during the 6 hours, and then exporting the solar during the day @12p. We also have free SC on one of the S's but not the other and I mostly can't...

Travelling around Paris - East/West and charging?

Not been to the Eurotunnel since they became open to all - will let you know after Saturday. I have experienced other shared SC's being full with queues in France, yes - mostly I've re-routed to avoid queueing whilst looking ahead, so couldn't tell you if they were all Tesla's queueing or a mix...

Travelling around Paris - East/West and charging?

Groan - I hadn't realised they've now opened the Channel Tunnel chargers to non-Tesla as well. Heading out on Saturday morning for our hols. We've been driving for our summer/ski holidays in our Model S since 2018 and one of the key benefits has been that the Tesla chargers were never fully...

    [UK]Advice on buying a Model S built 2016-2018

I have a 2015 Model S with 140k on the clock that I've owned since 16k miles on the clock - battery/drivetrain warranty finishing in September. I'm sort of coming at it from the opposite direction - should I sell before something big goes wrong? I'm sticking with - I did raise a request on the...

Tesla Service Centres? Are they all this bad?

Long term owner of a Model S with 140k on the clock (2015) so I've had many an experience with the Tesla Service Centres; service stations were pretty good initially when they had local phone numbers to the actual garage, then everything had to be done via App and the service response time was...

Powerwall Installation - UK - Site Import Limits (100A DNO fuse)?

Thanks for the correction - so there's still a 240V PD, it's just split between a positive 120V and a negative 120V rather, than 240V to 0, interesting. I guess if you touch a live wire at least it's "only" a 120V shock. Every day is a learning day!

Powerwall Installation - UK - Site Import Limits (100A DNO fuse)?

Hi BG, Thanks for your thoughts - the 100A sort of is equivalent to 200A for the US as our voltage is nominally 230 so can provide 23kW draw (more like 21kW with voltage drop). We've been managing ok with all the demand to date, but effectively with the PWs I'm now trying to squeeze all the...

Powerwall Installation - UK - Site Import Limits (100A DNO fuse)?

A question about Gateway 2 Site Import Limits - what should this be (have been) set to by the installer? (UK based, so US answers probably don't apply) We've just had 2 PWs installed at our home a couple of days ago. We're on a 100A DNO fuse, but have quite a few high-demand units, a couple of...

    Model S aftermarket alloys - 19x9.5J rears ET32 - will they fit?

Ahh I see you went the other way and moved to the 21s! My wife is quite fussy about aesthetics (at least with cars, otherwise I wouldn't have made the cut) so she might say no, but how much would you want for the 19s? Any tyres on them?

    Model S aftermarket alloys - 19x9.5J rears ET32 - will they fit?

I should have said, this is for a 2015 MS - not sure if any dimensions have changed with the refreshes.

    Model S aftermarket alloys - 19x9.5J rears ET32 - will they fit?

Hi, My wife is fed up with her 21" alloys due to the multitude of potholes on our country roads and is keenly eying up my BBS 19"s. I've found a used set of 19" BBS on ebay that look in good nick, used on a BMW but PCD is the same. The fronts are 8.5J which is fine, but the rears are 9.5J...

    UK HV 90kWh replacement cost

Hi All, My 2015 85D is coming to end of battery/drive train warranty September 2023, so I wanted to find out the rough current cost for a replacement battery if the HV battery died suddenly in October, to make a more informed decision whether I keep the car post warranty (I really am quite...

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

There's such inconsistency around when it comes to Tesla and what does/doesn't need to be done. That said, your quote seems high; the repair centre near me (MG Cannon, Salisbury) were going to charge £222 inc VAT for the alignment AND re-calibration. I'm pretty certain the radar recalibration is...

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

Sorry for the long delay on update - the SC didn't manage to get the parts for a while and pushed back my SC appointment, which gave me the chance to take it to an independent garage, who whilst not having EV experience, are well regarded mechanics locally. The indy put it on a high bay and were...

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

I'd be tempted by an Indy shop, as it's the Labour rate that's really pushing up the total repair, but my experience so far is most garages are hands-off for EVs even though this is a mechanical issue unrelated to battery/drivetrain.

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

Thank you - this turned out to be the problem. I managed to get an appointment at the SC on Monday and they quickly found this issue. Unfortunately they didn't have the parts in stock so these are being ordered in. It was due to be repaired this coming Monday but parts delay has pushed back a...

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

Thanks for the extra thoughts - all seem serious enough that I should probably skip the prevaricating and just book a SC slot asap!

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

Yes, quite possibly, but as it's out of warranty I'd like to see if it could be something simple a local garage could deal with first.

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

Hi All, My 2015 85D, 123k miles, has started to steer erratically. The best way I can describe it, is it is similar to when you are driving along and a gust of wind suddenly pushes the car left or right a little. It's not all the time, just at moments, but is unnerving. I've had the car since...

Wing/side mirrors stuck folded and RHS door handles not presenting

When the mirrors on mine didn’t present, it was the Thank you - I'd used the credit card trick, but not the zip tie. Good shout. On playing around a bit more, I realised that most of the electrics on both doors on the RHS have "gone" and not just the presenting handles and the mirrors. The...

Dashboard panel, what model will it fit ?

If you login to the Tesla spare parts catalogue at https://epc.tesla.com/#/login using your usual Tesla details you should be able to look through the catalogue to see what the original part number is for your pre facelift model s. If it's the same as the one shown here then I would expect them...

Wing/side mirrors stuck folded and RHS door handles not presenting

Hi Everyone, Apologies if this thread already exists, but I've had a search and can't find this problem mentioned elsewhere. Yesterday, when I unlocked my car, only the LHS door handles presented, the RHS door handles did nothing and also the wing mirrors did not unfold. Reaching across from...

Reducera braking performance detected (by car)

Hi thebishop, I've just had the same on my 85D for the first time. Winter tyres, about 0C, I noticed the car was a little slippery when moderately braking before a corner (no message or ABS) and put it down to a small amount of damp/ice. I wanted to check the conditions so waited until I was on...

    Rear trunk won't open

Hello - first post, long time lurker. So it's my turn to suffer this (my other sufferings will be shared on relevant posts). It happened on my Sept 2015 Model S last week. A few days before the rear boot (trunk) seized up entirely the boot had been tempermental, sometimes not closing or opening...
