light hearted request... your car name? - and why

Mine is named Dude, my wife's is named Sweet. Stupid (I mean STUPID) movie reference. The unintended byproduct is my phone now tells me things like "Dude, your Tesla just finished charging".

Things to make cabin quieter - in order of easiest to hardest?

The impression I get from reading other sources is that wheel well insulation doesn't help with road noise because it is being transmitted through the suspension not into panels surrounding the wheel wells. This would suggest that the best way to take care of that would be either through the...

    anyone is using electric boats?

Pure Watercraft | Electric Outboard Motors Here's a company in Seattle trying to bring electric outboards to market. They've got a few already out in service in several places across the country. I've had a chance to ride in a bass boat outfitted with one of their motors and it certainly has...

    Funniest Tesla Question Thread

I've lived in Seattle for 40 years and also driven through LA a fair amount. I think LA has it beat on volume of cars and therefor the volume of delays. Seattle is pretty geographically and politically stuck with largely the same freeways as we had in the 50's. A few important spots like the...

    New Service Center - Renton

Swung by yesterday as I was running errands. It was hard to tell what was going on inside, but there were 5 Model S parked outside what looks like the service entrance. I wonder if they moved them from Sodo. Still not sure if they will be up and running tomorrow, but they look close.

Pic of your Model 3.......RIGHT NOW! [model 3 pictures thread]

Got it. Nice work. We've got a NEMA already there, but I'd like to keep it intact and add a new circuit for the wall chargers. We had a subpanel installed in our garage last year during a remodel exactly for that purpose. I'm fairly certain I could do the work, but it would take quite a bit...

Pic of your Model 3.......RIGHT NOW! [model 3 pictures thread]

We've got two still in boxes, but having a hard time getting an electrician to install them (holidays and all). Did you install them yourself or get an electrician?

    Thrilled new M3 Owner!

I just went with the Tesla version, they are simple and the center caps are paint matched to the wheels.

    Thrilled new M3 Owner!

Just the console wrap. I can't quite justify the cost of an exterior wrap though I may regret that later. One thing I forgot to add to my list was the lug nut and center caps for the wheels under the 18" aero caps. I think the wheels look much better without them.

    Thrilled new M3 Owner!

What I've gotten: - Console wrap: The brushed metal from Abstract Ocean looks great but that is very much a matter of taste - Screen protector: Abstract Ocean's Gen 3 HD Clear is pricy but I'm really happy with the results. - Samsung Evo 860 SSD: For dashcam and sentry mode. Again, a little...

Is my steering wheel supposed to look like this?

It's definitely where the clear plastic was there to protect the badge during assembly and delivery. Mine was still installed when I took delivery. I don't have that marking, however, but it's most likely some remnant of the low-tack adhesive they use.

EoY 2019 Deliveries: Quality Control Thread

My wife and I took delivery of two M3's on 12/29, both were built around Christmas. The only issue we've found is there was some adhesive residue left on the top rear glass which I didn't notice until later that evening. Took it to a SC and they had it spotless within 5'. Overall we're very...

    LR AWD Waiting Room

I don't know if the center caps on the aero covers come off, but you should just drop the $50 and get the lug cover set that Tesla sells as it has both the center caps and the lug nut covers. I greatly prefer the look of the wheels over the aero covers. Efficiency be damned.

Cannot schedule service through the app

LOL, see the thread I started earlier today (about 3 convos down as of right now). Did you perchance recently get your vehicle? According to the Service Center, I couldn't do it because the ownership paperwork had not yet been completed. I would guess that it's not uncommon right now given...

Which voice commands do you use most?

At the very least the navigation voice should say "I'm afraid I can't do that".

    Can't set up service visit

UPDATE: I went to the local SC and explained the situation. They determined that my ownership paperwork wasn't quite completed yet which is why I couldn't schedule the visit, then they went ahead and fixed the issue right then and there within 5 minutes even though they were busy with other...

Which voice commands do you use most?

I tried that earlier today. Really seems like Tesla missed an opportunity there.

    Can't set up service visit

Took possession of my M3 on Sunday as a home delivery. I didn't want to take up the busy tech's time by going over every minute detail, so once I determined there were no major issues (and there still aren't any) I signed the paperwork and he was on his way. Later that evening after brushing...

    New Service Center - Renton

I just tried scheduling a service visit at SoDo and the Renton facility showed up with an available time on January 6.

    LR AWD Waiting Room

Got mine yesterday evening. I haven't had a chance to see it in the daylight, but all the panel gaps and paint seem to be in great shape. The only issues are two blemishes on the rear top glass. One seems to be a manufacturing defect with the top layer and the other is a 2" long horizontal...

    LR AWD Waiting Room

Aaand like clockwork. 2 hours after posting this I got a call from Tesla saying my car won't be ready on the 28th and they want to push it back to the 30th. I was really looking forward to having the weekend to enjoy it and now I have to rearrange my work day, but I'm not altogether surprised...

    LR AWD Waiting Room

I also have a delivery on the 28th, but I got my VIN last night. Hopefully you'll get yours soon to stay on track. I will not be surprised if they contact me today or tomorrow to say the delivery is delayed, since there seem to be a few people here who've gotten pushed back.

Wiki Model 3 Order Tracking Spreadsheet

Sweet! Hopefully it all works out. BTW, my car is supposed to roll off the line tomorrow and I still don't have a VIN either. I imagine it will pop up tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.

Wiki Model 3 Order Tracking Spreadsheet

Ordered 11/25, got the delivery text this morning like a lot of people and getting delivery on the 28th. My delivery will come 4 weeks and 5 days after I ordered. A 12/11 order might not make it by the end of the year since I think they stopped "promising" EOY deliveries for online orders...

I ordered mine online last week and had it within a few days. Now if they can only get me a VIN.

Same here, but in Seattle. It's triggering for those of us that have been waiting weeks.

OK. I don't get this. According to the Tesla site, there is a new car for sale EXACTLY like the one I ordered on 11/25 sitting LITERALLY 4 miles away from my house at a service center (Blue/Black, 18", autopilot). Just emailed my SA to say WTF.

    LR AWD Waiting Room

Shoot. I was hoping they were farther along in the Seattle area. Ordered 11/25 and no VIN (apologies to our northern CA friends for sounding whiny and entitled). There are a couple mid-November Seattle orders on the spreadsheet that just got their VIN's in the last day or so. Of course, this...
