    Lithium 12v battery upgrade question

Have you had any issues lately with the MPP battery?

    Ohmmu 12V Battery Feedback

Yes I think this sounds right. I think its possible this started with the last December. I also think the reason is them moving to Lithiums in the 3's and Y's. They require higher voltage, and I also read the windshield washer fluid pump being changed to 15.5 volt, there might be two different...

    Ohmmu 12V Battery Feedback

I have a similar issue with the MPP earthx 900 battery. Since I installed the (very nicely) machined brackets that MPP supplies with the purchase, to hold the battery which is alot smaller, its very difficult to just swap back to the old lead battery. Is there a separate thread on the MPP...

Has anyone replaced their 12V battery yet?

I would be happy to volunteer my car if anyone is in the ATL area and wants to compare.

Has anyone replaced their 12V battery yet?

Sometimes, yes. Sometimes, no. I'm a professional musician so I do trust my hearing. There was no question in my mind of the difference. I guess you would have to test it out for yourself to hear the difference. But then again, like you said, often we hear what we want to so might not be a...

Has anyone replaced their 12V battery yet?

I got a Dec '18 M3P+ and I just switched the 12v to the mountain pass 12v lithium. Its easier to change it when you have a RWD car than AWD car cuz the front motor gets in the way a little, but I saved 25lb of weight and the sound system sounds like it got a $5000 upgrade. The sound was always...

Wanted in Atlanta: ceramic coating, chrome delete, window tint, and possibly paint protection film

I can highly recommend Clearfilm in roswell. They did tint, full PPF on my M3P+ and also my M850i. They are fantastic. I cannot recommend them enough.

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

I think it would be awesome to have a chart of the lightest forged wheels. So far I have: WedSport TC105N 18x8.5 at 16.7lb Titan7 TS-5 18x8.5 at 17.8 What else is out there thats possibly even lighter?

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

There are a variety of good options, including Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3. Make sure you get the option with the Aero covers though, EV01+ not just EV01. Buying the inserts separately is much more expensive.

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

5 pounds unsprung is equal to 15lbs of vehicle weight... when it comes to acceleration. For constant speed (which cars rarely operate at) the weight is what it is, sprung or unsprung. But lower weight, wherever it is, does require less energy to move. Always.

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

If you have P3D+ with the red calipers, make sure you get the 70.2 mm bore and 35mm offset for stock fit. The extra bore lip is machined for exact OEM fit. With the inserts, you should get at least 10% increase in range over the 20" stock and improved acceleration. These wheels are lighter than...

If you want to triple that, go with the EV01+ wheels and a low rolling resistance tire easy. Fast Wheels EV01(+)

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

I think about 5% from switching from 20" to 18" both with Pilot Sport 4 is actually pretty good. Thats a range increase of 15 miles. I would figure another 5% increase if I was using the EV01+ wheels with the inserts and with the same PS4 tire, and probably another 5% from switching to a low...

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

I was saying it would be great to trim 500lb, not Munroe. Munroe said it was built like a Sherman tank, that it was overbuilt and that there are lots of potential for weight savings. He talked about building some parts in fiberglass instead like most car makers do. I do not think shaving 500lb...

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

Below is the quote I was reacting to: Yeah... but it does impact range. Saying that weight does not impact range is just not true, and is the kind of misinformation you mentioned you did not like. Just take a look at how much more efficient the SR+ is compared to the LR. In my opinion, the LR...

I would also love to see a proper test of this. Also an efficiency test between the PS4, PS4S and the respective TO tires. Maybe we can lobby Engineering Explained or Out of Spec motoring to do one? Toss Micheling Energy Saver A/S in there too.

New 18" Pilot Sport 4S - Tesla Spec

There are more differences than just the foam... (which btw does literally nothing to increase the weight).
  24. davidviolin

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

Yes there is and they usually include that in reviews of the tire if you search the internet for reviews on a particular tire they will tell you which tire wall is stiffer or not. tires that have the stiffest sidewalls are usually run flats, but that's not typically good for handling. Because...

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

I would stay as close to stock sizes as possible. I would even get the PS4 tire thats developed by Tesla/Michelin. Look for the TO sign attached to it.

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

Yes, but there is more to it than that... Every tire manufacturer has different sidewall stiffness. So if you are looking for nothing but cornering performance, I would pick a tire with stiff sidewall, combined with a lightweight forged 18" wheel for quicker acceleration out of the corner.
  28. davidviolin

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

I have not noticed much difference in cornering. If anything I feel there is a quicker response to steering input.

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

I have a M3P+ and went from stock 20" P tires to 18" tsportline with PSP4S. Car feels quicker, more comfortable ride, and about 5% efficiency improvement. In hindsight I would have dropped the extra money on the Titan wheels and gone with the PS4S's with the TO marking (the ones with foam...

Model 3 12v Battery issues, monitoring, Aftermarket replacement

Yeah, getting off topic here, but the main issue I have with the M3P+ is the weight. I really wish it was around 3500lb instead, and I think they could have done this by shaving off alot of redundancies, and also swapped the glass roof for carbon fiber one. Like Munroe said, its built like a...

Model 3 12v Battery issues, monitoring, Aftermarket replacement

Hi fred, I am also interested in the weight reduction. Mainly for me it has been cutting unsprung mass (saved over 30lb on lighter tires/whels). apart from 12v battery and floor mats, where have you managed to cut weight?

Do you have paint protection (PPF or ceramic coating) on your new M3?

I got a partial PPF and I am super happy I did. Cost me around $400. And I hit my front lower lip while parking, what normally would have to be a replacement of the front lip cuz of scratching, after peeling the PPF off, there was nothing on the paint. Got a new PPF for free on the lip and drove...

Likelyhood of bending 20 inch performance wheels

Friend of mine who lives two blocks away with a M3P also broke one of his 20" and switched to 19" wheels because of it. He said performance seemed similar, ride comfort was better. I also assume a few % increase in efficiency as well.
