    BMW i

The i3 has a frunk but the volume will be something like 20 liters, but if you order the RE the frunk will be full of a 9 liter fuel tank. BMW said that with the REx you will go additional 100-120 km (62-75 miles). That will be a fuel consumption of 7-8 liter fro 100 km (29-33 mpg), that much...

Here you will find the newest pictures and a paper for the press. Unfortunatley in German only: Der BMW i3. (Ausgewählte Kapitel) I have one little issue with this car, the small trunk only 200 L thats very less for a car at that price. But on the pictures you can see that BMW build up a...

    BMW i

I think the RE in the i3 is not designed in that way that you could go longs trips like in the volt. The RE in the i3 is only for situations where your battery is low and you want to arrive at the next charging point or your destination (if it is not to far away). In my opinion the RE in this...

BMW will use a motorcyle engine with 2 cylinders and 26 kW. I don't know what motor it will be, but it can be a modified one from the BMW motorcycles like the G650. The gasoline tank has a volume of 9L.

So this is it (first time in a Model S)

I drove the Tesla in Duesseldorf - Germany last time, only for 30 min, the car is perfect in all cases, but I have only two concerns, that have probly to do with the second seat row. - Head room is to less, I can't sit in the second row for a long trip my head touchs all the time the roof and I...

    Model X Side Mirrors

The chevi Volt/Opel Ampera has this very big front spoiler down on the front bumper, GM said that this big think increasing range up to 10 %. But don't know if they mean 10% in comparison to normal front spoiler or to no front spoiler. I would assume that side mirros increasing range more, but...

    Non-traditional ideas on improving range

Very good idea, with my ICE car I tried it sometimes to drive a long way behind a truck, (i know not so save) but I saved somthing around 10 % of fuel, while driving at 90 km/h (56 mph) Totaly agree, but how to calculate this numbers ? There are a lot of parameter variable, the bigges parameter...

Major Rust on Rotors in a few hours ?

Very nice technology, I have not expect that from GM. But that drives additional costs to the rotors. The only "car" form that I know this is from the Renault Twizy. In Germany one of the most sold electric "cars". There were some Renault Twizys that had so much rost on the rotors that it...

Major Rust on Rotors in a few hours ?

These problem arrived at any EV that I have seen until today. The rotors will rust much faster because the surface is not so often used as in an ICE car. The case is that in every EV you will use the mechanical brake much less. In the end you will replace the rotor not because they are too...

78% of drivers drive 40 miles or less per day

ohaq explained the point very well. We have to analyse the data of a big number of ICE cars. Then we will get data with a more precise picture, how many mile were driven per day. Because if you asked a Volt, a Leaf and a Tesla driver, depending on the car you get different answers...

    Public Charging Etiquette

The second Leaf driver that pulled your plug out could though that you get an Tesla MS with a big battery so the probability that you have more energy to drive other there else is higher as in the arrived leaf. 21" Wheels Less Efficient?

From other cars I know this here and I have personal experience: Tires have a less density as rims. That means the 21' + tires are heavier than 19' + tires, because you have more tieres material and less rims material on the axle. But the important point is that with the 21' you have a higher...

    Mercedes Benz B-Class Electric Drive

1000 mile range with aluminum, air and water reacrion

Perhaps in the future people will have tonns of unused and used Al plates in their garages. An every week they will replace them. I though a little bit absurd ? The best advantage of on Li-Ion EV is that you are not addicted to a company. Everbody can produce electricity themself. With H2...

1000 mile range with aluminum, air and water reacrion

I can not belive that, because I don't understand the chemistry behind that and I am a chemist. I understand that there are two batterys an Li-Ion and an Al one. The Li-Ion is for normal use and rechargable. The aluminium reacts with oxygen and electricty is generated by this reaction between...

    VolksWagen XL1

You are totaly right, anticitizen13.7. That car is only good for taking from A to B with highst efficency and lowest costs. I am interested in driving for low costs, but it's not the only aspect. Nissan Says Long-Range EV Unnecessary

Sorry for my mistake between "cells" and "modules". You are right, it can be possible, but only if you add a cooling module between each module, like in the Volt. There the arrangement is "Li-Ion module - cooling module - Li-Ion Module- cooling module- ......." I think you get the idea. This is...

    VolksWagen XL1

My thoughts about the XL1: I don't understand why the VW engineers put in an electric motor and an ICE with a normal gearbox. Metric/Imperial measurments and driving test requirments

I said that for me it has no logic. For others it can be differnt. But it is a not solveable discussion. If you learn from childhood one system and you will prefer that everytime. I learn only the metric system and the american system is strange for be, because I never got used to. Therefore...

Metric/Imperial measurments and driving test requirments

You say there is a system but for example take a look at lenghts. SI system always uses 10^3 steps. Base unit is meter [m]. For smaller values you can go down in 10^-3 steps or up in 10^3 steps. But what you do with inch, foot and yard ? For every conversion you need different factors that you...

Metric/Imperial measurments and driving test requirments

That is my point, too. At work we have some instruments from the US one of them was broken and we want to fix it. I think your pound is another pound as our. In German it is called "Pfund" and it is 500 g. Sorry for the confusion. 5'10 is better than 178 cm or 1,7m would never sign this, because I could not imagine how high it is. The more confusion with 5'10 for people that do not know it, is in my...

Metric/Imperial measurments and driving test requirments

You are right mknox people used these units every day and everybody in the US is known of this used units. Other continent other units. Metric/Imperial measurments and driving test requirments

Thanks for your post. That is what I want to mention all the time when I am reading here some values in inch or miles. Very horrible to imagine for an European person. model x kinda like x6?

From my point of view the BMW X6 is one of the most absurdest cars ever. It is big, high wind drag, high fuel consumption, very low trunk space and useless at all. I hope the Model X will be better. But I asked several times myself why Tesla build a SUV and not an Van or a station wagon. For...

The taxes are depend to the country where you live and where you buy. For example, here in Germany you get not benefits when you buy a full EV, but don't have to pay extra (or normal) taxes if you buy a hybride or normal ICE.

Metric/Imperial measurments and driving test requirments

But the price of an i3 will be very high. With range extender BMW mentioned over 40.000 €. That pretty much for such a small car. Temporary European Fog Light

I saw on the facebook side of Telsa this photo here, form a Tesla from Norway: What about this light in the bottom of the rear? It looks very ugly there. Then I wanted to check if it's European issue or an Norway one and saw this picture from Germany: There is no light applyed under the rear.

The Hilarious Thumbs-Down--a Model S first?

Very strange situation and behavior from the driver who threw the drink on your car. I assume that people that work in a rapair garage or an ICE car factory and get less and less orders could think about that it could be Teslas fault. Very easy and absurd thinking, but that can happen.

All 4 Tesla superchargers in DE taken by ICE vehicles.

In my opinion it is very silly if ICE parking at EV spots. It is a shame for the enviroment to block charging stations. But I like the idea of taking out air from the tires of the ICE car or taking on soap at the windows, I would never do that, because it is not so legal. That I would do is...

World Map of Model S Reservation Holders

Are in Italy any subsidization available? I think that without any subsidization (e.g. some cash or a big tax benefit) it will be very hard to sell a certain amount of EVs. Look at Netherlands or Norway, very big amount if Hybrids and EVs due to very big subsidization and benefits when buying one.

World Map of Model S Reservation Holders

The Ampera/Volt sold very less as well. The people say "a Opel for 50.000€" what the hell for this is can have an BMW, Daimler or Audi. Too much prestige thinking, Tesla is a brand what is totaly unknown for German people, hopefolly Tesla will change their mind.

    Nissan Says Long-Range EV Unnecessary

I can totaly agree with you. I don't want to have an EV for my work, an EV for my wife's work and an third car with ICE for long distances. The study is quite right in the fact that the most rides are very often short ones. But there are sometimes longer ones as well. EVs are expensive and the...
