Musk Asks About A Texas Gigafactory: Is It For You, Cybertruck?

I wish, but I had my hopes dashed for the battery factory that went to Nevada - and I can't blame Tesla, only Texas legislature for not allowing Tesla to sell directly in Texas. Feels like same thing over again...

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

I've had that noise on 2 of my Teslas, and they replaced fan motor each time, it's just bearing/bushing noise - if it were me, I would insist that they replace it.

    bubbles on touchscreen

Don't want to spend couple thousand dollars, think my quote was 2400. but that was years ago. And the screen still works... I'd probably pay around $500 so I'll keep waiting. Of course, if screen quits, then I'll pay whatever the current price is :)

    bubbles on touchscreen

1 Seems they fixed this before the X came out 2 mine still works and the bubbles grew to one large area - only a 7-10" oval in the middle remains, mine started at 50k (didn't notice till 52k so out of warranty) and now car has 120k, 3 years later 3 pressure didn't seem to do anything to them 4...

    App does not unlock car

Also have issue 2014 P85D Cannot unlock, start, frunk, or trunk - but everything else works fine This is a recent issue, wonder if it has to do with update couple weeks ago Something I noticed, when I do frunk the pop up comes up and I click yes, then the car graphic shows the frunk open for a...

Driving in reverse makes GPS position wrong

Both our cars do this too - I first noticed when I visited a friend with really long narrow drive and with backup camera I just backed up and then map was off. Thought it was just that Tesla, but did it on my wife's car too.

    HDMI interface to the touchscreen

FYI - There is a delay in bluetooth on the Tesla - We have used bluetooth to do sound for various other devices like iPads to watch movies or other video and the audio delay is significant, not sure why - but makes it difficult to watch.

    bubbles on touchscreen

Yes, what a mess it was, cleaned out and removed cubby and put some gaffers tape up there as a catch can :-)
  9. Jason

    bubbles on touchscreen

Yes, Didn't notice till 54k miles, now have 80k. Started with few bubbles, now over 1/2" all the way around border of screen

Any update on this - I also have leaking screen on wife's car

    Lets see your garage!

It is little messy - I had garage added on to house just for Tesla, up to then prior cars had to live outside :) Commercial carpet squares were .30 sft on craigslist and still going strong after 4 years.

Trip A and Trip B bog down the CPU's memory and processor?

I have been having issues, slacker skipping, nav not loading, won't close garage door when leaving, overall just a bogged down computer. Wish they would offer optional upgrade, I would be happy to pay to have i7 and/or more GB of memory so that there would be no chance of it slowing down. When...

Input request: Aftermarket sound system upgrade

They can come off the 12v battery directly - the NVX comes with its own fuse. I did the NVX sub only and like the additional bass (car already has the upgraded audio).

Two sets of tires without having to goto service center to program TPMS????

I have P85D (Jan 15 delivery), so newer sensors. I just purchased extra set of sensors for aftermarket wheels/tires. After installing last week, was wondering same thing. On the way home with new tires/rims on, screen pop up said something about detecting new sensors - I was driving so just...

    Induction Phone Charger

I just put them in the car myself - in the cubby, and we have iPhones with inductive case. The black one is in S60, the white one (magnetic) is in the P85D so the phone doesn't run away when I take off :)

For those of you experiencing static from the audio system after upgrading to 7.0

I can confirm that mine does too - for me it starts the noise when brake hold and also goes away when tap accel. I thought I was only one :-)

Getting solar just to feel like your car is powered on sunshine

The prices for panels keep dropping - I have 20kw system that has been built in sections over last 3yrs. Last section (5kw, over a year ago) cost less than $1.50 watt, I did the install. It is even cheaper now. There are may good web sites out there to buy panels well under $1. watt, like...

POLL: Has your drive unit failed?

I voted 1 for no over 50k, but have had total of 3 - P85 sold at 50k no replacement, still have S60 with 55k no replacement, and a P85D with 15k no replacement. On the P85D when I first got it they were going to replace DU when it quit, but they figured out it was software issue with...

Add a 110v outlet inside of the car?

you can get adapter that plugs into the 12v outlet and goes directly to the laptop - just do search 'laptop car adapter' on amazon to see examples... Does seem silly to go from 12v dc up to 110v ac then back down to 19v dc (most laptops)

Slacker Radio (US) Streaming - 320 Kbps Bitrate Support

Here is one more vote for 'can tell difference' The background - wife's car sounded better than mine, little better bass, little crisper highs. Just figured it was in my head or maybe all the extra stuff she carries in the car affected the acoustics :-). Put in the account info for both - my...

    Retrofit Premium Interior Lighting?

It is always on - when car is on. Personally for me, having the ambient light always on is fine with me, the switch backlights are always and it is not a problem.

    Retrofit Premium Interior Lighting?

I had disassembled the door panel yesterday to look into the same thing - if I come up with good solution I will share. The blue connector is the window switch one and has 12v

    Retrofit Premium Interior Lighting?

To make powering it simpler, I would pull power from the illuminated window switch - just as FYI, the strip LED lights don't stick well under the armrest :-)

Need spare touchscreen to develop video interface

artsci - don't be too disappointed, I tried one while ago. It would let signal pass through, but not let me input anything through the video input. But don't let me stop you from trying. Hey - think we talked about this already on 8/16/14 :-)

    Airplane mode?

Wouldn't having it use a wifi hotspot turn off the 3g - thought it disables it while using wifi. You could rig up a cheap router to run off 12v and have it link to it, with router not hooked to internet the car should not be able to get info...

    Sport vs Insane on P85D

I also agree on 'that's what the right foot is for' the primary driver of car does not need any settings - all should be part of pushing on pedal, software can be set to accommodate based on load and amount of pedal press. Of course flat on floor is both motors all out! that said, would like...

    Crash Sensors

It has accel/impact sensors right and left in: doors (these are pressure impact), 'B' and 'C' pillars, and 2 up front (pretty sure attached to front bumper carrier), all these feed the PSRCM unit (a Delphi unit by the way) behind and below the dash cubby. The PSRCM decides when to blow the...

    Front Active Louvre Mesh Grille

No comparison to having to jack up car, remove tires, remove wheel well covers, remove ducting and then carefully scrape them off the condenser coil, and reassemble :-)
  48. Jason

    Front Active Louvre Mesh Grille

Excellent - our are big (it's Texas, remember :-) Most bounce off with some residue left, some hit with enough for to impale a little into the mesh, but carwash sprayer get them off easy. It is better than the OEM middle grille, opening is too large and many get in there, very hard to get...

    Front Active Louvre Mesh Grille

Just thought I'd toss this out. We live in the country and bugs (grasshoppers) go right in when louvres open and end up on the condenser. Used some hex aluminum mesh grille material (Ebay, and many other places to get it) and bordered it with smallest wiper fluid hose to cover the sharp edges...
