I've had that noise on 2 of my Teslas, and they replaced fan motor each time, it's just bearing/bushing noise - if it were me, I would insist that they replace it.

Don't want to spend couple thousand dollars, think my quote was 2400. but that was years ago. And the screen still works... I'd probably pay around $500 so I'll keep waiting. Of course, if screen quits, then I'll pay whatever the current price is :)

Both our cars do this too - I first noticed when I visited a friend with really long narrow drive and with backup camera I just backed up and then map was off. Thought it was just that Tesla, but did it on my wife's car too.

FYI - There is a delay in bluetooth on the Tesla - We have used bluetooth to do sound for various other devices like iPads to watch movies or other video and the audio delay is significant, not sure why - but makes it difficult to watch.

They can come off the 12v battery directly - the NVX comes with its own fuse. I did the NVX sub only and like the additional bass (car already has the upgraded audio).

I just put them in the car myself - in the cubby, and we have iPhones with inductive case. The black one is in S60, the white one (magnetic) is in the P85D so the phone doesn't run away when I take off :)

I can confirm that mine does too - for me it starts the noise when brake hold and also goes away when tap accel. I thought I was only one :-)

you can get adapter that plugs into the 12v outlet and goes directly to the laptop - just do search 'laptop car adapter' on amazon to see examples... Does seem silly to go from 12v dc up to 110v ac then back down to 19v dc (most laptops)

It is always on - when car is on. Personally for me, having the ambient light always on is fine with me, the switch backlights are always and it is not a problem.

To make powering it simpler, I would pull power from the illuminated window switch - just as FYI, the strip LED lights don't stick well under the armrest :-)

Wouldn't having it use a wifi hotspot turn off the 3g - thought it disables it while using wifi. You could rig up a cheap router to run off 12v and have it link to it, with router not hooked to internet the car should not be able to get info...
