How did you get your SolarEdge Physical Layout

Yeah, I read something about using an endoscope. I was trying to use the drone so I wouldn't have to spend hours up there myself. Since the data is reported in 15min increments, I'd have to cover each panel for 30min. For 24 tiles that's 11.5 hours (don't have to do the last one). Ain't nobody...

How did you get your SolarEdge Physical Layout

Resuscitating this thread. I got zero layout information from the installer and want to identify the panels myself. I've been on the roof before, but I'd like to avoid going up there again since my clay roof tiles are prone to breaking under my weight. I have a small drone (DJI Mini 2) that in...

Tesla Gateway and Powerwall - Converting to hard wired network

Yes, I got my gateway connected. I don't recall exactly where the RJ45 was, but I also remember it being pretty easy to find. On mine I had to open the front panel/door and then unscrew/remove another panel. After that the RJ45 was pretty easy to find.

Tesla Gateway and Powerwall - Converting to hard wired network

OOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Ok. That gray box wasn't labeled. I always thought it was just a junction box or something. Alright, so I opened it up and found the RJ45. Thanks guys!

Tesla Gateway and Powerwall - Converting to hard wired network

This is my setup. I have 2X Powerwalls + 1 SE inverter. I am not aware of any separate Gateway device. Unless you're talking about the little black box that I no longer use. That device connects to the SE inverter via Zigbee. But I'm using ethernet (not pictured) to connect the inverter instead...

Tesla Gateway and Powerwall - Converting to hard wired network

I have a Powerwall 2 I believe. Not sure what the difference is between that and Gateway 2. I already have an ethernet connection to my SolarEdge inverter. And my TEG is connected via Wifi. But the connection occasionally drops out, and I'll get an email/text from Tesla telling me as much. To...

Tesla Gateway and Powerwall - Converting to hard wired network

I know this is old, but I'm trying to add wired ethernet to my TEG as well. Problem is I don't know how to safely access the ethernet port. I popped off the left and right plastic covers, but I don't see any obvious way to access the internals. And I don't want to start randomly removing screws...

    "Tesla Offer" Models S (& X, 3, & Y) Powered Frunk Hood Group Buy?

Yeah, I noticed the new mk4 option. I don't know what the difference/improvement is from mk3, but based on the available menu it's only compatible with 2021 MS. Since I don't plan on upgrading my 2016 MS anytime soon I'm not familiar with how the latest refresh affects compatibility, or if the...

I know this particular group buy effort has fizzled, but I'd be interested if anything picks up again.

SolarEdge Monitoring w/Tesla Solar Panels (Using GWY10 Zigbee Gateway)

The picture shows an ethernet cable (blue wire) that was run through the grommet in the bottom of the lower enclosure and then up to the upper enclosure and then plugpged into the ethernet port on the bottom of the PCB in the upper enclosure.

SolarEdge Monitoring w/Tesla Solar Panels (Using GWY10 Zigbee Gateway)

You'll need to ask for a SolarEdge monitoring login from Tesla. After that, you'll probably need to submit the panel layout to SolarEdge. You're lucky Tesla gave you the layout. I never got that out of them. They basically just neglected to record that information, and now I have no simple way...

SolarEdge Monitoring w/Tesla Solar Panels (Using GWY10 Zigbee Gateway)

I got my wifi extender, and it did the trick perfectly. I had to create an installer account with SE to login to the inverter and change the connection setting to Auto so it would detect the ethernet. I also had to pop open a couple panels and unscrew the existing antenna and grommet in order to...

SolarEdge Monitoring w/Tesla Solar Panels (Using GWY10 Zigbee Gateway)

I meant power outlets are scarce, not ethernet ports. I have an extra port or two on my GB switch. But I already have half a dozen devices plugged in a tight in-wall compartment. So I can't readily fit another wall-wart or even outlet expansion/powerstrip.

SolarEdge Monitoring w/Tesla Solar Panels (Using GWY10 Zigbee Gateway)

Outlets/space are scarce by my router, so I'm going to try using a wifi range extender with ethernet port. In theory this will be easier than a 2-part powerline system. Will let everyone know how it goes once it's installed. Hopefully I don't have any issues with getting the blank cover plate...

SolarEdge Monitoring w/Tesla Solar Panels (Using GWY10 Zigbee Gateway)

Not sure what you mean. I haven't connected the ethernet line yet. I'm thinking of using a powerline adapter since fishing a cable through to my garage isn't really feasible. And I'm not trying to get Tesla to "stop sending" info to SE. Like everyone else in this thread has realized, Tesla...

SolarEdge Monitoring w/Tesla Solar Panels (Using GWY10 Zigbee Gateway)

While this sounds like it could work in theory, I don't have faith in my ability to properly shuffle cardboard. Instead of 24 sequential and easy to track moves, this involves 60 (5x12?) coordinated and specific moves - all while precariously bouncing back and forth on my 4-peak roof. Nah :)

SolarEdge Monitoring w/Tesla Solar Panels (Using GWY10 Zigbee Gateway)

Last time I was up there I couldn't see any optimizers because they're placed directly under the panel. Maybe if I had an endoscope I could peak underneath, but that's a big maybe.

SolarEdge Monitoring w/Tesla Solar Panels (Using GWY10 Zigbee Gateway)

I've been having the same issues with my SE data since Feb. It worked for about a week and then POOF, no updates since 2/10/20. When I started reading this thread I was hoping everyone's experiments would end up yielding a simple push-button solution, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It...

DIY Almost Free Super Bright LEDs

Just to be more specific, since people seem to use interior/dome/map light interchangeably, I'd like to make these 4 button lights brighter. The only pics I could find of them was from someone's eBay listings, so I'm linking those listings as a courtesy. Front Map Light Rear Map Light

DIY Almost Free Super Bright LEDs

Anybody have info on upgrading Model S dome lights? Google doesn't seem to be any help. I found some tidbits regarding Model 3 dome lights, but that doesn't do my MS much good.

Is MCU 2 the most important feature when shopping for a used Tesla?

As far as future proofing, MCU2 is definitely the most important. While there's some FOMO associated with not getting new MCU2-only features, you're also less likely to run into bugs with software releases, and it doesn't hurt to have a snappier interface. Also, having MCU2 reduces the chances...

MCU died out of warranty. Heres info on my experience

The details are discussed in another eMMC thread, but I believe if the car was fully functional when the Tegra board is removed the car will still have rudimentary driving capability. If not then I’ll have to rent or borrow a car.

MCU died out of warranty. Heres info on my experience

My MS is a DD, too. So this exact problem worries me a lot. That's why I plan on doing a preventative eMMC upgrade later this year once my warranty expires.

    Acceleration Mode: Standard vs Sport

Looks like the latest software update got rid of the redundant acceleration mode. I'm now down to just Chill and Standard, which makes perfect sense for my 2wd 75.

    Acceleration Mode: Standard vs Sport

That may be the case, but I haven't been able to notice anything yet. And the vague owner's manual description doesn't help. The only difference I can spot is the type of drive train and/or AP supported by either mode. According to the description, I shouldn't have Sport mode available since my...

    Acceleration Mode: Standard vs Sport

My MS 75 has the following acceleration modes: Chill, Standard, Sport. As far as I can tell, there isn't any difference between Standard and Sport. The owner's manual says they both "provide the normal level of acceleration". If that's the case, why are they both listed as options? Just a fluke?

Do you have shudder on hard acceleration? AKA death rattle?

Just bought a 2016 MS 75. Is the shudder something I should worry about on this model? Haven't noticed anything obvious other than highway vibration/noise, but I don't do a lot of hard acceleration. It's also my first Tesla, and I don't have much to compare to.

Car won’t update.. anyway to find out why?

I have a 2016 Model S with AP1/MCU1 still stuck at 2019.36.2.1. About a month ago it notified me there was an update, but by the time I got around to installing it the notification went away I know my old hardware isn't likely to get many updates, but I want my new voice commands damn it :/

    Efficiency versus hard acceleration

Good point. It's been a while since kinematics. Yes, assuming you double acceleration, acceleration time is cut in half, and so is acceleration distance. I stand corrected. Anecdotally, I get fewer miles per kW when I feel like zooming around, but that's probably because I'm also driving at a...

    Efficiency versus hard acceleration

Your battery's capacity for work (W) is relatively constant and equal to it's electrical storage capacity (E) times system efficiency (c). W = cE Ignoring drag, work is calculated by applying a force (F) to move a mass (m) over a distance (x). W = Fx. And the force is equal to mass times...

Scheduled Charging - Start Yes, Stop No

Tesla took the effort to add Scheduled Departure. So now we get the options picking a start time OR an end time, but we still can't have both. How hard would it have been to just add a line for stop time in the existing interface vs adding a whole new tab that still doesn't do the obvious?
