Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
I saw reference in the manual but confirmed mine does not have adjustable headrests. It would be the same button as the lumbar adjustment. Here are some photos, maybe someone will find these useful...
I got my 2020 Model S on Dec 21st with the new seats. They are comfortable, the headrests are not adjustable but fine for us. There is no pocket in the seat backs either. We have had 2 observations with the seats. 1) I noticed a rattling noise which sounded like it was coming from the front...
I received this update on my 2020 Model S I got this week. I realize it’s a preview but I have 20/20 vision and the light colors are pretty small to see on the display. You really have to move close to the screen to determine the color of them. As long as the computer can read them, that’s all...
They insisted the gaps are within spec and adjusted the left rubber striker to where it’s about an inch higher than the right striker. Trunk closes now but no gap improvement. I thought I was pretty careful at delivery but I guess I missed the trunk. It’s within specs they say. I left with the...
I picked up my Model S today at Costa Mesa and for the most part was very pleased. Paint looks perfect and the car is amazing! There was one issue I encountered when I got home where every time I would close the trunk, it would close and then go right back up. Every single time. Looking at it...
I think many here will, they are cranking cars out it seems. There were several SR listed in Salt Lake City yesterday then suddenly So Cal so I’m guessing they are going to build remaining custom orders this week. Good news is when it goes into production, they get here fast!
This is not right but your car is already sold (they have counted it as a sale to you) and they have until 12/31 to deliver to you. By doing this they will get even more sales before 12/31. Many people buy cars Christmas week. Corporate Greed
Just received this text: Hello, this is the Tesla Delivery team in Costa Mesa. We apologize for the inconveinence as we will not be able to deliver your vehicle tomorrow due to a required firmware update. You will be tentatively scheduled for Sunday the 22nd until we make contact - thank you!
I have to wonder if anyone watches these Caltrans Traffic Cameras while checking source for VINs. LOL. Hopefully everyone gets their cars soon and Happy Holidays.
Interesting, good luck and hopefully it’s flawless once you get it. My account is now all updated so it looks like I’m ready to go. Maybe they will move me up again. :)
They told me all 3 but they ran Experian (US Bank) and I was approved. They tried to run Transunion too (Chase) but that was frozen. Here in California anyway...
Let us know how it goes today. Mine is still in transit but they moved me for tentative pickup tomorrow at 2:30 in Costa Mesa after a call to the delivery center.
I read in some other forums that people had luck inquiring on their car’s status via live chat on Tesla’s website. I provided my RN # and someone called me back within 5 minutes (Tesla Las Vegas #). My car has left the factory and waiting for trucking. Should arrive to Costa Mesa sometime...
More than likely Tesla isn’t competent this month do anything with the dates collected anyway and they will reach out once it’s in transit. Whenever that is. That’s my guess
Are new cars built in chronological order by VIN or no? I’m finding higher VIN numbers than what I was assigned as inventory cars with similar configurations.
I think they are considering your car as already sold (to you) but they want even more sales before year end so they are pushing them out for others to buy before delivering yours. It’s not right but it makes sense to maximize year end sales and make you wait until the very last week.
Edit...
Good point. It would certainly need to be less than that and consider future owner subscriptions as well (life of the car). I think it makes sense for cars with the latest hardware who aren’t willing to pay the full price. It’s revenue Tesla is losing.
If you didn’t buy FSD but have current hardware and Tesla offered FSD via a monthly subscription, would you subscribe and at what price? I’m sure it’s just a matter of time...
For those with older hardware, possibly paying a one time upgrade fee of $_ then a monthly fee of $_? As it stands now...
Awesome, did you get to choose a date? Hopefully I get a call tomorrow. Planning travel this month is tough. Tesla has the visibility so they should be able to give better timelines and delivery dates with ample notice. Hopefully that improves next year. o_O
Update: Received the following text just now but still no VIN or MVPA showing on my account:
Thank you for letting us know your availability. In the next several days, we will send another text message to update you on your delivery timing. To learn how to prepare for delivery day, please visit...
There are conditions there I think around this option in source but you would have to know all of the different codes to know what configuration this boost upgrade applies to. My guess is they are working on it and it should be available to Dual Motor cars soon (As an after delivery upgrade...

That was my thought. Then you only need to order a red underline badge right? They did a soft launch with the Stealth orders and will now offer to all? It’s the same price, right?
Received this email shortly after VIN appeared in source. When I clicked on it it asked me what dates I’m UNAVAILABLE to pickup the car between 12/22 and 12/31. I hit the button that said “I’m available any day”. Hopefully its not 12/25 or 12/31 :)
I ordered 11/10 and just got a VIN in source tonight. Costa Mesa, CA delivery center. MS Performance, pearl white, carbon decor, black interior. No estimated delivery date, text, call or email yet. Hopefully delivery is this week! My guess is it’s time for So Cal orders to get cranked out.
I think the current Raven Model S is a good choice and I don’t anticipate any major changes besides a 3rd motor for Plaid (Probably at least $25k more), possibly new batteries and possibly 5G cellular connectivity in the next year. I also don’t see the price of the Raven going down in the near...
My SA told me yesterday they are expecting a few thousand cars to ship to So Cal next week and even more the week after (I’m assuming he means all models). I ordered 11/10.
It seems the Model S is the last model to be produced for West Coast deliveries. Not alot of action recently here. Hopefully more VINs are assigned next week!
I applied and was approved for 72 months at 1.99% with EECU yesterday. Verbally they told me I was approved and they would overnight the membership paperwork. Is the approval letter in that same package or did you have to request it via email?
I submitted my app to EECU (Fresno branch) and was approved for 1.99% for 72 months on a MS. If you’re not a member you have to open an account and pay $10. They will mail you docs to sign. Super professional and easy. Highly recommend if you live in California. www.myeecu.org
It looks like cost savings and efficiency changes to me but as long as they are comfortable and the new foam holds it’s shape well, I’m OK with it. They should’ve added a center rear arm rest instead of creating slightly larger leg room with the new design.
So if you ordered a month ago but still pending a VIN, you will be getting the new seats regardless of what was shown online on your order date? Hopefully they are improved and the more comfortable padding has been well tested. So many older seats just look terrible as if they need to be re-stuffed.
This is a very interesting topic. Tesla’s floor rate is advertised at 3.49% currently. If you apply and they first submit you to US Bank, you will get 3.49% if approved. If they run you through Chase first and you’re approved, they will offer you a rate often closer to 3% I have seen across many...
