Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Figured you all may want to see this also as mine just went live. Here's a powerwall charging from solar and grid at the same time, currently having an issue where it caps out at 1.7kw but they're working on it.
I'm contemplating buying another powerwall and installing myself as at this point...
My installer simply asked them to remove the restriction as my power company allows charging from grid. Litterally exactly what he said. Do you have a contact for the solar team that installed? Dominic from SRP distributed energy (solar department) is the one who confirmed SRP wants us to be...
Yeah SRP lost my interconnect agreement and also my installers certificate in liou of inspection so it took an additional 3 weeks before anyone noticed that commissioning wasn't scheduled.
I do not lose the SRP credit, technically the ITC is a different story...
Installer got on the phone with Tesla and he said we need to remove the software restriction because the power company allows it. Tesla rep said really? Interesting, ok it's removed should be about 10 minutes until the powerwall recognizes it.
It actually took about 2 hours but works without a...
After many delays and power company losing paperwork I must claim success! See attached picture for powerwall grid charging. Will post tomorrow with grid charge and solar charge simultaneously just no sun right now.
If your power company allows it, the way the ITC rule is interpreted by me at least is as long as I use 100% solar to charge my panels...well first off I would be using 100% of my solar production to charge my panels. Secondly my power company also generates and stores solar energy in which I...
This is simply put not true. The rule is in place as a blanket so they don't have to manage it. However if your power company allows it and you put up enough of a fight they will enable it. I will send additional proof when mine is activated. They legally cannot prevent it from charging if power...
Awesome thank you I believe that'll have everything I need. Really should be simple to create a schedule. Hopefully with this info and some math I can make a schedule that will charge as needed based off TOU and also if battery is below a certain percentage and the weather is bad so production...
Sorry if I have read through this too quickly and missed something, but all I seem to be able to find are status/read request for the powerwall....does anyone have send/commands figured out yet? I'm mostly looking for the scheduling portion of the wall. I want to create a macro that will allow...
This may double my replies I posted last night but are not showing up now. That's the E-13 plan look at the E-27 plan instead

Damnit that's horrible. I program Crestron control systems so hopefully I'll run into some time and can dig deep enough to find their API or sniff it out using Wireshark and create I i.agine an SSH connection to the powerwall then I can create any schedule I want in Crestron. If this works out...
My power company has contacted Tesla and told them to remove the restriction as they want their customer to be able to charge from the grid. Before calling my power company Teslas claim was the only reason they don't allow it is because of the power companies. My power companies Tesla liaison is...
SRP actually does has great buyback it's 1-1 so not sure what you mean by the rates aren't good?
I plan to charge at night just after peak, at which point I have a ~80% cap I'd set. I would then discharge at peak morning in winter or if we have a power outage I now have backup also. During peak...
Well sorry for bringing up a topic that has been discussed dozens of times however I know there are ways around it...
Now to throw a huge monkey wrench in the situation I just got approval by my power company to charge from the grid, they actually prefer it. They have sent a note to Tesla...
I am having a system installed and have just been informed I will be locked out of grid charging.
Now as far as ITC is concerned I full understand so skip right passed that please.
To my understand I can't charge from the grid because I could then also discharge to the grid. IE pay off peak...
