Model 3 LR AWD - Two Year Snapshot

To answer both questions above: I use a charge range of 25-80%. An important point is that it took quite some time for the bms to report 302 miles regularly. At first, it slowly progressed upward to 300 and then went down to about 285 and then over a period of months creeped back up. Given the...

Model 3 LR AWD - Two Year Snapshot

I have a 2020 LR with about 35,000 miles. Last year I was seeing a range of about 264 which, obviously, sucks. Speaking to Tesla service, he said it would just get worse and when it got down to a certain point they would take care of it. He said there was nothing I could do. I did not believe...

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

Convenience. I always plug the car in when it is the garage. I have never seen a provision for setting charge limits below 50%, and the vast majority of my trips are less than 20 miles. I live in a relatively small city.

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

I have a Model 3 LR, delivered during early 2020. It has about 30,000 miles and, to date, has been absolutely trouble free. Since the beginning, I have tended to keep the charge limit between 70-90% and very rarely let the charge state fall below 50%. My commute round trip is 19 miles with an...

SR+ vs LR for long commuting

2 years ago, I was considering the same decision: SR+ or LR. I was talking about it to my beloved late father, and he said “You are never going to say ‘gee, I wash I had gotten the shorter range car’”. I got the LR. Good thing too because it makes it easier for trips other than my commute.

Would you pay more for a used radar M3 versus new vision one?

I don’t see this as a functional difference. Both scenarios are grossly unsafe correct! Although I’ve never seen an 80 mph zone in my region so it would be illegal here. I would not go 80 anyway. I suspect I am becoming an old fart. You kids! Get off my lawn!

There is no functional difference to the user.

phantom braking. Are you still experiencing it with latest software update?

I haven’t seen a single phantom braking event in at least 8 months. TACC is also massively more reliable on two lane roads.

Tesla: Please fix the stinky AC - here's how with an OTA update

I live in a tropical state in the US. I found that mold will grow in any car that is always kept in a garage, which I do at home and at work. Letting the car heat soak in the sun every once in a while solved the problem for me in my Prius and Honda Fit. I have done the same with my Tesla every...

Unhappy with the Resale value for my 2019 Model 3

Anything you are selling is only worth what you can get for it. $45K is absolutely top dollar for a two year-old LR model three given that a new one is only a few K more. The OP's best hope is to find someone who is willing to pay a premium to avoid the delay time involved in ordering one...

OEM '20 Performance Wheel Bent - Now What?

The larger wheels are more prone to damage. The tires for those sizes are like rubber bands and don’t provide much protection for the rims. It was one of several reasons why I chose the 18 inch wheels. Looks like other posters in this thread are giving good advice. If you must have larger...

MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper functionality, complaints, praise, etc.

In my experience, all the automation works flawlessly. Wipers, lights, everything. All of those depend on the front camera. Perhaps some aren’t keeping them as clean as needed or there is some other issue?

Can't Send Text With Voice Commands

Some may be unaware that messaging must be enabled in the Bluetooth settings in order to receive and reply text messages. I have also found that after updates this feature sometimes gets turned off. You get to the Bluetooth menu by tapping the Bluetooth symbol on the screen.

Model 3 used prices compared to total market?

If you can find one, Used Tesla prices tend to be insane. In my locale, they are so high (sometimes *more* than a new one - I am not making this up), it makes no sense to buy a used one.

    200 mile SR+ dead.. BMS_a059 VCFRONT_a192 HVP_w028 BMS_a158

The bang was the pyrofuse. That fuse protects the battery from excessive current drain if there is a dead short or other electrical fault. The most likely scenario is that a FET in the power inverter failed, which is an integral component of he main drive unit, and shorted the main power rail...

    Toyota chief doesn’t get it

The hybrid technology developed by Toyota is superb. Dirt cheap to operate. With current gas prices in the US, my Prius was cheaper to fuel than my Tesla this week on a 1600 mile drive using Superchargers. Of course gas prices in the US are anomalously low right now, so I expect that to...

I bought flaps from Farasla. Good quality product. I had bought a less expensive set of flaps and ended up sending them back because they didn’t fit. The Farasla flaps have been solid, effective, and trouble free.

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

It would be better if the title of this thread were different. If there were true capacity loss, then it would be gone and you would not be able to recover it. In general, this occurs at a known rate (to Tesla). This thread is about recalibrating the BMS so that it more closely approximates...

Keeping a model 3 Long term...? Hold value, Reliability?

I fully expect the value of my m3 to crater at some point. I think while Tesla is selling as many as they can build, value will remain high. But as the market matures and as the current generation becomes less and less capable in comparison to newer models, that will change. I usually keep cars...

    FSD - 2k Price Jump 10.26.20

$10,000 says Go Away. Even if it worked well, As it is, I have a personal policy to never buy software based on a promise, especially when said software is tied to a car that can be destroyed and the software upgrade is not covered by insurance. At least to me, $10,000 is $10,000.

Cruise control inappropriately slamming on brakes

You shouldn’t use TACC on two lane roads. Period. Depending on the aspect of the car ahead, the system may apply brakes. I’ve played with it some on two lane roads when there is no one behind me and it’s better than it was earlier this year. On multi lane roads, it works great.

New tires killed my range (20-30% decrease)

That is my preference. I think the stock tires are fine and I am happy with the trade offs as the car was delivered. I’ve not seen any reliable way to assess different tires. Forums like this one are entertaining, but most of the time what you find here is folklore, not reliable facts. There...

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

I don’t normally look at the miles and just use percent. But just for fun, I have been following the OPs recommendation. I have run down to about 35% and back up to 90% once. It appeared to increase about 5 miles to 300. This is pretty close to the error margins, but it’s enough to continue...

When Tesla Roadside Assistance ends for your vehicle

I carry a spare in my trunk. I strapped up one end of the spare so it doesn't block the lower compartment. I won't drive a car without a spare. 36.10 green light chime FSD only?

I received the 2020.36.10 update. One of the more interesting new features noted by others is the green light chime when using autopilot. Not necessary, but a potentially useful convenience. How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

Your logic is good and the data support it. I was thinking along similar lines and stopped charging my battery every day although I keep it plugged in. Brake Pads replacement for a SR+

Cabin Filter Replacement with Breathe Easy Filters | AC Smell

I have not seen this in my 2020 M3, but I used to have the problem in my Toyota. I found that, if I heat soaked the car every few months or so, it would kill the critters producing the smell. So a potential solution is to turn off overheat protection and leave it out in the sun for a day once in...

    Thinking of selling....Oh My

$43K in remaining debt for something you don't use is quite a bit. It really depends on what you want doesn't it. Spending a lot of money on any car is never a financially sound decision. I did not hear anything on the video except at the edge of my perception. However, my hearing rolls off precipitously at around 4.5-5K now (I am 60). When I was younger, I could hear up to 18-19K. High pitched sounds could be very annoying and would sometimes drive me out of buildings. If it...

Charge to 90% or 80% daily?

I agree that it is theoretically better, but the magnitude of that benefit has never been established. I really don’t care if the battery will last only 20 years rather than 30. Tesla service documentation says that the bms can compensate for 1mv Imbalance per day and that no compensation...
  49. Bubbatech

Charge to 90% or 80% daily?

The general consensus is to set if for 90% and forget it. The bms will not balance the bricks below 85%. As the bricks become unbalanced, the range indication will be determined by the brick with the lowest voltage.

    Damaged Battery Pack

If there is *any* penetration into the pack, Tesla will want it gone. Lithium batteries can undergo thermal runaway when punctured, a gnarly scenario.
