I am getting it done in tandem with a partial PPF, ceramic coat and wheel powder coating, so ended up not being expensive to just have the shop manage the chrome delete.
A bit of an odd question, but I just realized I have no idea how the chrome deleted areas feel post-delete. I am getting a satin delete in a couple of weeks and am just sort of curious as to if they feel a particular way, specifically on the door handles.
Thanks in advance for entertaining...
So an update on what I ended up deciding on-- going to take my car to a shop in Milwaukee and leave it there from this Saturday through the 26th, so 10 days total.
I am getting...
Full front PPF + doors + rockers
Ceramic Coating on the entire car
Red Caliper covers with Tesla engraved into...
Just got the car on Monday so don't have much data on this, but so far I haven't found a way for it to come up despite having the settings set to do so.
I am likely chrome deleting my new Model 3 soonish and would like to choose the material closest to how Tesla does or would do it. I see that the Model Y is showing with a chrome delete on the Tesla site-- any idea what material would be the closest to what they will likely use?
To clarify...
Thanks, this is helpful. Think I found a good shop a city over that will do PPF and Ceramic coating for $6000 total (for entire car). I may just bite the bullet and do it. Even having the car for one day without it has stressed me out to no end.
Got an update from Tesla Chat-- seems like it got stuck. They resent a signal and then after around 40 minutes of a slow download it worked! Now updating.
Apologies if this has already been covered but a few Google searches didn't produce much in ways of this specific issue.
I was connected to wifi through my phone and the download was completed (my car made a ding noise) and the progress bar is all the way at the end, however it still says...
Where do those of you who don't have WiFi in your apartment garage or whatever your situation is go for a good public WiFi connection? Running through a tethered connection to my phone, but that will kill my data plan long term.
Tried Whole Foods this morning but their signal doesn't seem...
Ah so true. Took delivery of my Model 3 this morning and by the time I got back to Madison from Chicago my poor new Tesla was covered in sleet, mud, and ice. Going to take it to a touchless wash tomorrow since it looks like it should be sunny...!
One of the reps I talked to in Chicago said it was their understanding that they aren't making any stealth / sleeper Model 3s with white interiors-- was a major bummer since the interior is a must for me.
Thanks! Do you know what that clearish circle between the front and rear doors is? I've seen it on almost every picture of Model 3s. Does it serve a function?
I really appreciate everyone's feedback--- it does seem like there a lot of perspectives, all valid. For the time being I have scheduled a full front wrap for January (the earliest the most reputable shop in Madison can do it). We will see if sometime before then I change my mind either...
Practically identical. Maybe some minor minor adjustments (like no bag clips in frunk) but if you found a good match I would go for it. Some have made the point that resale value may be higher with the 2020 next to the name, but hard to say at this point since there really isn't any difference...
Interesting... so if I live in WI, but am picking up my car on Monday in Chicago, what options do I have for how I pay them day of? Does anyone know if I can just write a check for the amount owed upon delivery or does it have to be a direct wire transfer?
It seemed high, but after calling a few shops they seemed to be all around that price. Which shop in Chicago are you referring to? I have a call in to Chicago Auto Pros and am waiting for a callback. Part of the issue with getting it done in a different city is figuring out how to get back to...
I know the general vibe on the forums is yes... but I am wondering if there are some alternative perspectives on this or if PPF is just absolutely the right move. In Madison, WI I am being quoted between 5K-7K for a full wrap with 1-2 weeks in the shop, with openings starting in January.
I am...
For real? They just gave me two days that I am out of town-- I am going to call tomorrow to see if they can arrange it on the third day. I highly doubt they will switch my car to someone else.
hey! Sorry, should have clarified what I meant. From my time using both tools I found Tezz.la to update more quickly when inventory came in / out. Maybe by 30ish minutes or so? Maybe a bit less.
Thanks for creating your tool though-- the text notifications ended up being the thing that got me...
Tezz.la is definitely the most accurate, but https://ev-cpo.com/hunter/ has the ability to set configs and have them text and email you the second their system picks it up. It comes with their premium membership, but they have a two week free trial. Worth a shot!
I called a showroom in Baltimore this am after I saw someone post that there were P3Ds coming in and they said they had a handful. I imagine they went fast, but fingers crossed you can get the scoop from a post here and call in to ask next time a batch comes in!
Just grabbed one that is just a state away! Will need to cancel my custom order, but this was an exact match, 2020 model, and should be able to be delivered soon!
Ordered on 10/25 - LW AWD. SA said yesterday that he thinks there is a good chance it will be delivered before December 17th (when I leave town through the end of the year). Really hoping so, that tax credit would be nice. WI doesn't offer any other incentives so it is that or nothing.
Hey all,
Ordered a LR AWD with Aero wheels, but am considering grabbing a P3D+ if one shows up in inventory that matches the other things I am looking for.
My main concern is the comfort level difference I have heard about when compared to the 18s or even the 19s. I live in Madison, WI so...
Damn, this thread making a compelling argument for blue. Have an order in for MSM w/ white interior, but if I see a Blue w/ white interior come up in inventory I may switch over. I am pretty much torn right down the middle-- the truth is both look great.
If I did want to change the color in a...
Not sure if this means anything (it probably doesn't) but just got an email from the trade in specialist saying my delivery has been scheduled so they want to move forward with getting information on the car I am trading it.
Ordered just last weekend, so I am assuming it is just a template...
That is a fast turnaround with the VIN! Seems like it will come in way earlier than the 5-9 weeks they are saying now (though you may have ordered in the 2-3 week period).
Does getting a VIN assigned have any relation to when delivery will be? I know when you are within striking distance of the estimated delivery it matters, but using this an example, does the VIN assignment mean it may come before the 5-9 weeks or just that they are scheduling what car you will...
Thanks, this was super helpful. Yup-- in Madison so am going to drive my current car to the Schamburg location and trade it in for the Model 3. Just spoke to someone there who wasn't super helpful, but not because they were rude or anything, they just know about as much as we do. He said a SA...
How long did it take you all for a SA to be assigned? I ordered online over the weekend w/o going to a physical location-- have heard various accounts of SA assigned within days and sometimes months later. I am happy to wait, I am sure they are slammed, but wasn't sure if I should be expecting...
A bit late to the party, but in the waiting room nonetheless. Really hoping for delivery before I leave town on the 17th of December... will be gone through Jan 1 so if it doesn't make it by then then I am out of luck with the rebate. Website said 5-9 weeks... fingers crossed for all of us!
