    Bay Area insurance recommendations

I am curious why you wouldn't go to Geico, I have had them nearly 20 years and found their service as well as their rates to be everything I could ask for. Because I parked under a tree that decided to cast off a limb, had someone go through a stop sign and hit me, and then had my car stolen at...

    Today's lease announcement was anticlimactic

I suspect that those who think this announcement was anti-climatic already have their cars and had the means to buy a Model S without stretching their finances. For those of us looking to lease I find this to be a very attractive offer as I believe it is the best of both worlds (leasing &...

Tesla to make "exciting announcement on Thursday" (correction Tuesday)

I am sorry but I just have to take issue with this statement. I agree that McDonalds is large. I agree that they are fast. But I can't stomach the word food and McDonalds in the same sentence.

    Model S Confusion: A Mystery

In 1992 I got a Lexus LS400. At that time in the NYC area there must have been a billion of them on the road that were white with tan interior. Mine was one. After work one day I went to the garage to pick up my car. The attendant who knew me didn't wait for my ticket, just went and brought my...

Consumer Reports: "The electric car that shatters every myth"

49er, I guess you don't live in the NYC area if you think $40,000 bought 10,000 gallens of premium gas over the last couple years.

Consumer Reports takes delivery of their Model S

swegman: Car won't turn on (screens are dark)

What happened so far, as much as it might be a real downer, does not qualify the car as a lemon under any lemon law I have heard of. If the problem can't be fixed, or keeps returning once it is, than we're talkin'. As far as I can see, nothing has happened yet to indicate either of those...

    Edmunds Model S Long-Term Test

By the way who ever wrote the previous Edmonds update said the car had become his favorite of the long-term fleet. It still puzzels me how auto designors can get the complicated engine computers to work every time and still get the "reboot blues" from the rest. I really would like to know.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I am surprised at the number of "tire over inflation on delievery" stories. As Jerry33 points out all cars are shipped with tires over inflated. I can understand getting your vehicle with high tire pressure from a car transport truck, but to have your Model S delivered that way at a store...

It is good you notified the police, not only for the safety of other motorists, but to have a record of the event if you pay some sort of insurance deductable. Phil LeBeau on CNBC "real time test drive"

No, at the end of the day the article is fake because it implied something that isn't true. The car ended up on a flatbed not because of a design flaw, or that it is too difficult a trip to make for an average driver. It ended up on a flatbed because John Broder did not use it the way it was...

Phil LeBeau on CNBC "real time test drive"

To put my point of view in perspective I have recently retired from 30 years as a writer/producer for a major tv news organization. I think there few companies more self-important or self-righteous than a major media outlet. So I may be biased in my estimation of the awareness or concern of the...

Phil LeBeau on CNBC "real time test drive"

I think the only valid criticism of how Elon handled the situation is if a different approach would have gotten better results. I don't believe that to be so. Had he been "diplomatic" the situation would have never gotten so much attention and the re-enactments by other news organizations might...

NYT article: Stalled on the EV Highway

One of the more puzzeling things about the NYT article is the advice Broder claims Tesla gave him. Based on the rest of the article I don't for a minute believe Tesla gave Broder instructions as he described them. If one has an agenda it is very easy to willfully misunderstand what one has been...

NYT article: Stalled on the EV Highway

A thought about the NYT article I haven't seen mentioned. One of the ways Broder misrepresented the Model S was his "need" for numerous phone calls to Tesla during the trip. Really? He made it seem as though the car was sooo hard to understand that if you didn't have a Tesla rep on speed dial...

New Jalopnik hit piece? Fair and balanced?

Really impressed by the replies on Jalopnik from members quoted in the article. If I knew nothing about the car and then read the replies i believe the negativity in the article would pretty much vanish for me.

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

It seems to me that many of the problems seen in both delivery and build quality came at the end of the year when Tesla wanted to get as many cars out the door as possible. Maybe it is my false perception, but there seem to be less problems mentioned on the forums with more recently delivered cars.

Anyone else had to replace the whole drivetrain?

Wow...tough luck. It is amazing that you will have the car back in 48 hours, another confirmation of the superiority of an electric drive train. I am sure Tesla would replace the whole drive train even if it wasn't absolutely necessary to make sure it is a one off sort of problem. I had an the...

    Anyone get an alignment?

Actually when I said test drive, I mean Tesla store test drive. How it got out of the service center that way to begin...

    Anyone get an alignment?

The only glitch in an otherwise all-around wonderful test drive was the car's allignment. When I took my hands off the wheel the car, a P85, immediately dove to the right. It is interesting that the store had just gotten it back from service where 19" wheels were changed out for the 21" set...

    Model S Lease Speculation Thread

It is not Tesla that would be getting the tax break money, it is the leasing company. It is true that some leases on plugin cars do have the tax break figured in. Ford does this with their plugin vehicles. But with no resale history for calculating the residual on the Model S a leasing...
