Thinking of a better way to describe this type of closure. "Temporary" seems to imply that it's short term. Maybe "semi-permanent" or "closed - upgrade in progress" would be suitable alternative headlines.
This is a great stop, but if they upgrade it I won't be able to walk down to 620 McMurray Rd (Firestone) to eat lunch and get back at the exact time my charge is complete. This is going to really throw off my travel flow. :(
If there was a mismatch between the spacing of the SC stalls and the width of each parking space, wouldn't that have been readily apparent in the drawings that accompanied the permit for the work? This leads to three explanations.
1) This is the intended design and all contractors followed the...
The lack of permanently closed sites may be a bit of an undercount, for example Harris Ranch. The original superchargers were located about 500ft away from the current SCs. Technically, the old site was closed and a new improved site was opened.

From Tesla.com, "All V4 Superchargers are equipped with a longer cable, providing easy access for all EVs. V4 currently supports peak rates of up to 250kW per vehicle and is future-proofed to allow for updates and new features." Elsewhere, Tesla confirmed that V4 will be capable of 350kW per...
Has anyone noticed that the V4 cabinets seem to be a bit more squarish?

I have an exciting update on the new Mammoth location! Although barely visible from the street, the new superchargers appear nearly complete near the back.
Ok. I think I see the problem. My photos above appear to be for the 4th Supercharger site in Mojave that is just east of the Thai place. The link to this forum at supercharge.info is to the Thai place site, not Workz. Workz isn’t on supercharge.info as far as I can tell.
Great location! I looked up 2021 DOT traffic volumes and the peak traffic on the 58 through Tehachapi is a bit higher than the traffic volume up the 395 towards Bishop, so 40 stalls seems appropriate. This location also avoids a detour through Mojave!
This area needs a few more sites along PCH & Hawthorne and PCH & Crenshaw. Knox Strip Mall might help with travel along the 110 and 405, but it's not going to reduce congestion at the Del Amo mall. They must have picked this site because it was cheap.
Yea. I added Three Rivers (CA) last round and it's up to #20 on the list. At SC there would really help with visiting Seq/Kings Cyn NP. Yesterday I drove on the 99. It's slowly filling in north of Fresno, but south of Visalia is short.
Exactly. Plus, the battery will stay cold all the way from Mammoth to Bishop. By topping off in either Bishop or Mammoth on the way up, you can make it all the way down to Lone Pine on the return trip.
Exactly. I spend most of my time on the north end of Napa Valley. Although there's good options for destination charging, a (preferably covered by shade) SC in St Helena or Calistoga would be a great addition and would reduce congestion in the lower Napa area.
Maybe an opportunity for Tesla Energy to strike a win-win with Bear Valley Elec with a virtual power plant? :)
Their website currently states a max of 5 L2 chargers:

Yes. There are two L2 chargers a few hundred feet away and a couple of more at the Explorer cabins. The downhill drive to Oakhurst is easy - you could almost get there on empty. Going into Yosemite Valley is harder though. Sure would be nice if the Wawona Hotel and General Store was there for...
Yep. Must be a very new gas station. On Google Street Maps the dino-fuel dispensary is still under construction. Interesting that someone would bankroll a new gas station there since there's a Shell a few blocks away to compete with, setting aside the obvious looming phase-out of gas cars.
These outlets were a complete zoo yesterday. No only were the SCs full with a short wait needed, but the parking lots, restrooms, and restaurants were also super busy. I can't imagine what it will be like today.
I think the best you can do is to enter it as your destination in the Nav. A big red box that notified me that KC was out last night sometime between 5:30-5:45pm, I think. I have no idea what the lag time was for it to pop up.
Last night I was just a few minutes away from Kettleman City when the Nav notified me that it was down. After a bit of drama with my wife, we headed towards Harris Ranch (in a massive rainstorm) to eat dinner and charge there instead. My wife couldn't find a number to call to ask for an...
The wait for their transformer was incredible. I walk be here every other day and I've seen a few cars charging up. Not very many, but some. I really like this location. Easy in-and-out and in the shade.
My wife and I missed a turn at had to backtrack to Harris Ranch a few years ago. Arrived with 0 miles remaining. Had a similar experience from Fishcamp to Tejon with just a few miles left. Now we play it a bit safer!
Also, as a tip for DeLaCruz, I never, ever charge to 100% on a road trip...
