how many kept your old ICE around as a backup? And how long before selling it?

I kept my 1998 SAAB until it finally died about a month after delivery of the Model S. We had loaned it to a friend, else it might have been left sitting utnil it fell apart from disuse. We are now getting a car #2: a VW e-Up.

    Got Firmware 6.0?

Got it yesterday, on the 24th. So I voted "no". Still no autodimming when entering tunnels, which is the one feature I really really want. My daily commute gives me a choise between 5 or 8 tunnels each way, in 35km (22 miles).

Help design a pedestrian warning noise for a Tesla

My experience is that it would take a foghorn to have any effect in these instances. Something around 120 dB.

Will you get "TankMode" added to your Model S?

I drove over a fist-size rock today, probably dropped off a dumper from the nearby construction work. I saw it too late so I clipped it with the inside of the right front tire. and was treated to the sound of it bouncing and rattling its way back under the car. I panicked for a moment until I...

    EU Market Situation and Outlook

1491 Model S sold in Norway in March, a new record. No other car model has ever sold that many in one month. I would say that Tesla is well established in Norway. :)

    VisibleTesla

Has anyone else ecperienced that graphs and trips just stopped working? Both worked fine a while ago, but I didn't use them for a long time. Months, maybe. Then the other day when my wife was out driving, I used VisibleTesla to see how far off she was when she was heding home - trying to time...

    Bad experience with flood waters

I got caught on flooded roads after (and during) torrential rains here in Norway. When I came to an extra deep place, I put the suspension in "extra high" and crawled through. No problems experienced before, during, or after.

Tesla Owners Work in Oil/Gas Industry

That would be me. I notic that on an average day there are Teslas in at least 6 of the 57 charge spots in the car park at work, the rest are mostly Leafs.

Broken driver's side mirror - where to get replacement glass?

That's the mirror I need. Now I can only hope that one of these sellers is willing to ship it to me in Norway...

Broken driver's side mirror - where to get replacement glass?

About a month ago the driver's side mirror was hit by something in a crowded parking lot. I found the housing folded out and the glass on the ground, with several fractures. It took me only a few seconds to figure out how to reconnect the wires and push it back in place, and then I ordered a...

    Real-time traffic not so real-time?

The traffic has been working fine for me, but yesterday I ended up in a 5 km solid pack after a collision on the main road. And the display showed the road in nice optimistic green the whole time. :(

Many owners with UMC problems in Norway , specially during cold weather

I live in a milder part of Norway, so I haven't had any really cold days. I have had to reinsert the UMC twice in two months, that's all. Norway not only has an unusual power net configuration, we have three of them! Newer installations are 400V 3-phase TN net, older ones are 230v IT net, and...

New Supercharger Dashboard in Hawthorne Lobby

I see Lillehammer, Gol and Lyngdal on the list - not bad! I expect that the activity on all Norwegian chargers will pick up a lot around Easter.

    Model S consideration

It all depends on your charging opportunities.. My daily commute is 35km each way, plus another 2x15km on Thursdays. I plug in when I get home, and plug in when I get to work. Both places I charge at 230V/13A, which gives about 10km range per charge hour at current driving conditions (dark...

    Unions

In my case, I work in the oil industry. In Statoil, to be precise. Other oil companies would most likely pay me more for the job I do, but I kind of like it in Statoil. I used to work in a multinational service company, and there were times that I really benefited from the unions. So I'm a...

    Unions

Unions are also a major reason why so many ordinary middle-class Norwegians both want a Model S and can afford one.

    Random Model S sightings

I saw a Volt (or Opel Ampera, as it's called here) this Friday, the first I have ever seen. It was in the left lane in very slow-moving traffic, I was in the right lane in my red Model S 85. In front of me was a grey P85, behind me was a white Model S. No, I don't know if that was a 60, 85, P85...

    VisibleTesla

Whatever it was, it works as it should now. It could be that the temperature was set to 17°C or lower; when the weather is both chilly and wet I prefer to start off at a lower than normal temperature and then raise it as I drive.

    Collective noun for Model S?

Since Nikola Tesla was the great champion of altrenating current and devoted his life to electricity in waves, I vote for "a wave of Teslas". ... or maybe "a current". :)

So just how reliable is the Model S?

Not a single problem so far. The car is perfect!

    VisibleTesla

It happened both before and after upgrading from 5.6 to 5.8. With VisibleTesla 0.21.01. It's cold today, so I'll use the Android app today. ;)

    VisibleTesla

I have a possible bug: When I start HVAC from VisibleTesla, it's because I want to get into a nice warm car on a cold autumn day. Last Friday the blower was going full out with the temperature set to "LO". I tried again today, same thing happened. With the Android app, it warms correctly to...

    driving thru deep water puddle

My first car was a SAAB 96 - the old V4 model. Not only did it float, but the air intake and all the electrical parts were above the water line. It was the only car that successfully forded a flooded road on one occasion, both going and returning. :)

Legislator says cyclists’ heavy breathing causes pollution as they ride

True, but still incorrect. Methane has far greater greenhouse effect than CO2, but the concentration of methane in the atmosphere is so much smaller that the total effect is far less. Furthermore most of the methane gets oxidized to CO2. If methane concentrations ever reach levels where it...

    Suggested Supercharger Locations

Added a few suggestions in western Norway, in locations where they would be useful for several different routes to different places. Max theoretical range is hardly practical here. The terrain is far from level, the roads are often so steep that regenerative braking would be insufficient. I...

    Hello from Norway :)

Another Norwegian here. I believe there will be more of us - the Model S costs less than half of what a comparable ICE car would cost in Norway. I've read all the cold weather warnings, and hope that the worst bugs can be ironed out and the rest will be irrelevant: We're not normally very...

What do you do for work? Just passing time waiting for updates from Tesla :)

All right, that question got me to register. I work for an Oil Company. I try to find MORE oil, and to get it out of the ground as cheaply and safely as possible. At the moment I'm sitting on an oil production platform far out in the ocean, drilling an injection well which should hopefully...
