Dreaded "Vehicle may not restart" error

What is a drive unit actually? Is it a controller to the electrical motors? No idea

Dreaded "Vehicle may not restart" error

So I just got back my car today (took 5 days at the shop). They did a recall on the chargeport pins and fixed the electrical issue reported by the vehicle. Here is a summary of what they did:

Dreaded "Vehicle may not restart" error

They just texted me to drop my vehicle at the SC. I got a loaner Model S as they expect it to take 2-3 days in the shop and he told me there are some recalls too. If any is still interested and I am not talking to myself here, I can post an update on the fixes they did once they are done with it.

Dreaded "Vehicle may not restart" error

I did, its fine. That was my initial guess. I noticed the problem happens a lot when the car comes to a stop and puts itself in hold.

Dreaded "Vehicle may not restart" error

I have 2018 M3 LR RWD. Got this dreaded message while I was about to stop my car on a Stop sign: BMS_a035 Vehicle may not restart”. This was Oct/28. I freaked out, and put that error message to the test: stopped on the side and reset the system. The message disappeared and got replaced with...

    Model 3 Myths

Its funny how many of the myths posted here have started by the "man" himself: Elon. I found this website funny and maybe somehow related to this thread: ElonMuskToday My favorite myth: FSD will be available by the end of "this" year.

Will Elon give Autopilot free for 2018 or early 2019 buyers

Interesting, I did not know that! In retrospect, if I knew this, I would have gladly coughed up the $3000 to add it. But I clearly remember when I bought the car the $3000 AutoPilot description did NOT include “summon” (this is the feature I am dying to get due to my small garage space). Summon...

Will Elon give Autopilot free for 2018 or early 2019 buyers

Sure it is... Hmmm, I am not sure what I am missing here, but it seems you got the terminologies wrong. EAP (known now as Autopilot) was a separate package in 2018 independent of the FSD. Check my cost breakdown. EAP used to cost $3000 and FSD cost $6000 (you could save $1000 if bought them...

Will Elon give Autopilot free for 2018 or early 2019 buyers

EXACTLY. That is another example of why I said: Tesla's track of record suggests that early adopters are not treated in any special or different way. I am pretty sure I would feel bad if this happened to me in the examples you provided. Or maybe I am just another consumer with a high sense of...

Will Elon give Autopilot free for 2018 or early 2019 buyers

I am a late 2018 LR RWD M3 owner, and I echo OP wishful concerns, but I do not think this will happen at all judging from Tesla's track of record. In fact, I think we are the forgotten early-ish adopters generation that helped Tesla in its make-it-or-die year. Now for those of you that say the...

    Standard connectivity & phone app

That should not happen. Something is definitely wrong with your connection. Nothing on Tesla's website mentioned that you lose these features. I passed on premium connectivity and I got a message telling me I have now "Standard Connectivity" that includes traffic-aware navigation, but I will...

Overpaid for FSD, No Early Access - Class Action Time?

Prepare to be eaten alive from Tesla/Elon hot heads with this post lol. Well, I did complain about several similar issues with Tesla's pricing. I had to bite the bullet and go on. Thankfully it was not to the level of thousands of dollars. You should be happy that you only paid $3k for FSD (it...

Smelly AC not covered under Warranty on new cars?

I do not recommend disabling cabin heat even if it helps with the smell. Remember, besides the importance of preventing damage to the car interior due to over heating, my understanding is that one of the main reasons of cabin overheat protection is to protect the big screen. Car manufacturers do...

Smelly AC not covered under Warranty on new cars?

A quick update: The smell came back again, and with vengeance! I swear it is even stronger than before I cleaned the evaporator coil. We are getting this record heat wave in Florida (seems like the new normal), and it is so hot and humid now. After two weeks from cleaning the system WITHOUT...

Smelly AC not covered under Warranty on new cars?

I honestly followed this video on how to clean the evaporator coil: Some tips: - Kool-it is what Tesla uses to clean the Evaporator coil. You can buy one from O'Reilly for $11.99 instead of Amazon overly priced same product. It has this fresh toothpaste scent - You might want to use two cans...

Smelly AC not covered under Warranty on new cars?

Can you elaborate? I think it is a well known issue even by Tesla that it is a widespread problem. However, they do not want to spend money/resources to fix it (Tesla is still bleeding money). Have you heard otherwise? I just cleaned the evaporator coil myself using Kool-it last weekend. My...

Blog Tesla’s Full Self Driving Option to Receive $1,000 Price Increase

I am probably going to join you in the pot when people roast us for this, but I could not agree more. The best description I read somewhere on EAP is like having a 16 year-old drive your car: You can let them drive, but you will be nervous ALL the time, and constantly questioning their...

    $19.99 Aftermarket Cabin Air Filters

Be careful with HEPA filters in cars. They are not recommended as they reduce the airflow and causes the AC to work harder. They are actually not recommended usually by car manufacturers

Smelly AC not covered under Warranty on new cars?

The same Orlando SC quoted me $136 before tax to fix the issue. I do not know how you got them to do it for free. However, I did notice/read/and even confirmed from other people that visit the Orlando SC that different people seem to get different treatment. Go figure...

Rear ended today. 3-4 month wait - parts not available.

That's EXACTLY what I was complaining about. Tesla is only pushing to sell cars, and totally dropped the ball on good customer service and support. I hope it does not come around and bite them back in the future if it continued like this.

    Tesla’s BAD Customer Service

I owned a Lexus before. Awesome car, solid, reliable, and great customer service. Its only mistake is: ICE But nothing beats my Tesla. BEST CAR EVER. Again, I am just very disappointed in their customer service. If a newer/better EV car shows up, I might seriously consider it in the future...

    Tesla’s BAD Customer Service

Thank you. I just wanted to make sure I am not feeling they are out there to get me only. LOL But fair point, they can/should do better. Jumping ship...Nahh... I will wait for a better/newer ship first before jumping. BTW, I had a Lexus before the Tesla. Awesome car and great Custer Service...

    Tesla’s BAD Customer Service

I have the Blue one (which costed an extra $1500 back then, now $100). I have a spreadsheet the shows the difference with all the different customizations. If you want to make an even more madenning comparison, imagine if I paid for EAP ($3000) and AWD ($5000) back them. Thats an extra $8000 for...

    Tesla’s BAD Customer Service

Fair enough, expect it has been less than 6 months since I bought the vehicle and the price went down significantly on the SAME technology. Listen, I do not expect them to give it for free here to me, and I do not care honestly. I just care about the customer service experience. They already...

    Tesla’s BAD Customer Service

Do not get me wrong, I LOOOOVE the car. It is amazing. It just feels sad that I do not know what is hidden to us customers if/when we have issues with the car and have to go to the dealership or deal with CS. I am just saying what is being portrayed is different from real life experience.

    Tesla’s BAD Customer Service

I still do not care much for FSD or EAP. In fact, I was very close to make an accident with EAP was enabled. I ONLY care about the dumb summon (not the newly glorified summon). But even then, upgrading to get summon means $8K more. Thank you, I prefer to lose more weight and squeeze myself more lol

    Tesla’s BAD Customer Service

When you pay more than $50K for a vehicle that built its brand on out-of-the-world customer service and reliability and get less than-chrysyler-dealership treatment, then yes, I will be disappointed when someone does not respond to my emails/calls/concerns. Think of the people who paid for FSD...

    Tesla’s BAD Customer Service

This is my first post of the forums. I am sorry if I sounded mad, but I am mad at Tesla’s lack of the basic customer service respect. I have been long a fan of Tesla. I have the Tesla Solar since 2016 (when they were SolarCity), and I bought my Model 3 LR non-AWD in October 2018 under the...
