Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
I got an email from Octopus on Friday to tell me about the new Go rates I would be going onto tonight, but as my solar + powerwall got installed in December I am planning to move over to the Tesla Energy Plan - just awaiting confirmation that it is all going through. Looks like I may be on the...
It’s also really awkward to turn on the fog lights now. Before it was just on the first page of the “Car” menu. Now you have to open settings, stretch all the way over to far left and find the “Lights” sub menu (which isn’t a particularly large touch area to target when you are driving) to find...
Current Transformer Clamps - they are the small plastic clips that go round electrical wiring to detect how much current is being drawn. In the case of the grid CT it detects how much current is being drawn from the grid.
Ok so I just checked and no, they weren't disabled on the easy entry profile - however after turning them off there (and it supposedly saving the setting) I then noticed that manually changing between the Easy Entry and my driving profile that it seems to reset the auto fold option to on each...
A few times recently when needing to drive to work in the cold weather my mirrors have been frozen in the folded in state. I have tried a few times now to turn off the "Auto-fold mirrors" toggle in the Settings (and I see the green tick "Saved" pop up appear near my profile name), but then when...
Just seen mine for 76p too. Strange as the bill for December 25th was perfectly itemised for each half hour during that period and so it should have been £2.79!
08:00 - 08:30 37.565
08:30 - 09:00 42.818

09:30 - 10:00 11.620

The base Taycan has just the rear motor, but it is still 2-speed.
I still have another year of my 2 year lease on my Model 3, but I'm considering of moving to the Taycan when the time comes. At the moment I think the 4S is the sweet spot in the range, but if and when they bring out a GTS then...
My understanding is that the Agile integration only looks up the costs for charges that have a blank cost for that geofence location, so as long as you actually set the geofence cost to 5p (or whatever Go Faster equivalent you are on) you shouldn't need to actually comment anything out. Then as...
We've been with Octopus a little over a year and began on Go but switched to Agile a few months ago. My normal commute (when I'm in work at least) is typically accommodated in the normal Go 4 hour window, but after checking the comparison tool mentioned earlier we determined that we would have...
Well last night it didn't set anything and it hasn't set anything so far for tonight either. What sort of time does it normally set them after rates are published? Still can't see any mention of this on the main myenergi forum so not sure whether it is just me or not.
[Edit] Well tried the...
Didn't seem to work for me either. Luckily I was still up at 1am so just reverted to manually set timings via the app when I saw it hadn't started charging.
My energy usage is showing OK now - looks like it starts monitoring from whenever you set the account up rather than picking it up historically from the hub.
Ah nice - been waiting to try this out. Didn't even see as mention of the soft launch on their forums!
[Edit]I've managed to get an account set up and it knows about my hub and zappi. I've also set a target budget of below -3p for tonight and as expected it is saying my next charge will be at...
My GCP seems to be more or less stable at the moment. Looking back at the history over the past 7 days it seems to have had a live connection for all of it. There is a section of "offline" which lasted about a day but I wasn't driving during it anyway and the same section shows as offline on...
As well as the logging I like using it for the auto sentry mode feature too. I like to exclude both home (gated driveway covered by IP cameras) and work (secure location and also covered by cameras) and the ability to edit the size of tagged locations means I can park anywhere in the work...
Had you just left it running or spun it back up and reimported? If the latter I think it is just the importing that causes the monitor to whinge and suggest an upgraded instance. Mine hasn't reappeared since that first week of spinning it up and importing the data initially. I've not bothered...
Same here - just checked my GCP instance and aside from needing to log into my Tesla account again it seems to be working correctly now. Think I'll keep both GCP and Synology running for the time being until GCP appears to be back for good though.
Well I'm leaving my GCP Teslamate instance running just in case Tesla un-blocks it but I've now reinstated a docker instance on my Synology NAS and managed to restore from my last GCP>Google drive backup so I'll just use that for now. I can always VPN back to my home network for remote access...
If you look at your teslamate page (as opposed to grafana) it will likely show a "Health check failed" red exclamation icon next to the car locked icon. If it isn't there when you first open the page it will likely appear when it next refreshes to fetch vehicle data.
Out of interest do the Orvis ones have a slit to allow you to access the seatbelt fastener? Couldn't see any mention on their website and that is certainly necessary for our Dalmatian and his Ezydog harness (we just have a cheap and cheerful hammock from Amazon).
Edit: Just had another look on...
Well I asked Edinburgh in advance and they happily made me up an extra pair of plates with the reg I was getting put on and just had them in the boot when I went to pick the car up. If I recall it was within a couple of days or so of collection so hopefully Southampton should be similar. Once...
Bear in mind that going for an untethered charger adds in a lot more faff when it comes to coming home and "just plugging in" as you have to then get your cable out and plug it into both the charger and car; either that or your leave your cable permanently connected up and have to get a second...
If you set the delayed start time in the car then it will stop the car trying to initiate charges during the day. The ev.energy app itself is smart but it just uses the simple stop/start instructions via the API to control the charge on the car. If you leave the car to it’s own devices (without...
Is the car set with a delayed start time of midnight? If you do that then it will normally initiate a charge briefly at midnight and then the app will stop it and start the next charge at the appropriate time. Remember the next day’s tariff will only be published sometime after 4pm so before...
It automatically looks up the agile prices each day. The only setup required is to tell it your Tesla login credentials so that it can get itself an API access token (required to find out the charge level of the car and then to wake it / start charge and stop charge). You then tell it which...
You can’t be on Go before you get a smart meter - you will be put on a temporary standard tariff until they can install one. I know there have been significant delays during lockdown so you might want to check with Octopus as to when they anticipate you could get one installed. There certainly...
Unfortunately I think that was probably just coincidence your car being scheduled for 2020.28 - I’ve had a service request in for a while and eventually got a text back to tell me 2020.17 was the latest available for my car. Despite a couple of two and fros on the text where I said I had seen...
I think it's a pretty fair review (not having seen the P2 in the flesh) and it is definitely more of a competitor to the 3 than the Y - it's just a hatch opening rather than saloon. If I didn't already have a M3P I would certainly be tempted - think it comes down to how much value you place on...
Lol, short version:
Reversing camera can now show feeds from the two wing cameras too (swipe up when in reverse camera mode show them)
Battery warm up when routing to 3rd party fast chargers
Sentry mode now shows where the event trigger was in the timeline
Model 3 will now wake from sleep from...
If your daily charging never exceeds 4 hours then by far and away the most straight forward way is to just schedule the charge start time to be 00:30* from within the car - then you know it will start at the beginning of Go and be finished before then end. Ignore the departure time setting...
Still on 2020.17 here, and by the look of the Teslafi fleet tracker there are still plenty of us in the same boat. Majority are now on 2020.24.6.4 so hopefully won't be too much longer.
More dropping to 16A charge issues today on 2020.20.17 and also had Bluetooth sound cut outs a couple of times over the past few days too. Generated a service request for both and think I managed to create bug reports by holding down the car icon during the Bluetooth cutouts too so hopefully...
And I'm still stuck on 2020.20.17 where the problem definitely isn't fixed - had a 2.5 hour charge today and it dropped after an hour. Come on Elon - give me the new firmware!
@DaveW over on the UK & Ireland forum has also provided a useful guide for automating a backup to google drive which I've followed (with appropriate minor adjustments for using my GCP instance rather than Pi) which will set up an automated backup using rclone and cron. If you follow his...
Ah I assume you just mean the version of docker-compose.yml with traefik details in it - think DaveW (and me on first reading) thought you had a separate traefik.yml file for some reason. Sounds like you may have ended up with one of those pesky certificate errors at some point in your install...
I'm assuming you have set up Teslafi with appropriate sleep mode settings too?
As it happens I've noticed my car waking up a bit more than usual recently too and I have also enabled ev.energy recently as I've just moved over to Agile and it is great for that, but it isn't keeping it awake for...
That’s a pain - think this is the first post I’ve seen to say someone still had a problem with 16A charging on 20.17. After updating to 20.17 yesterday mine charged ok from 41% all the way up to 80% over a series of 4 charges (ev.energy app picking out the best times for agile) and all of them...
I've been on 2020.20.12 and been experiencing a bit of the 4kW charging (including last night). Didn't see any mention on the app of a new firmware but just been out to the car to check and sure enough 2020.20.17 has now begun to download. Fingers crossed it sorts the 4kW charging at least -...
Well I have managed to get the teslamateagile stuff up and running - at least it seems to have worked out the costs ok for the first agile charge last night at least according to my attempts towork out would it would be on excel.
Unfortunately I now seem to be stuck on e2-micro as if i try to...
Well I'll uninstall the monitor and switch back to the f1-micro for a bit and see what happens too.
As an aside I'm moving from Octopus Go to Octopus Agile as of midnight tonight so I've added Matt Jeanes' bit to the docker-compose.yml file for when I restart it - hopefully with the appropriate...
