Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

Yeah I was aware the rear ports are power only. I can't get the controller to work with the glovebox ports. I tried Xbox and PowerA controllers.

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

Yeah but I can't even get the controller to work with the glovebox port...

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

Can you provide a link? My understanding was that this limitation only applies to the ports in the rear. Also if they don't do data, how does the dashcam still work?
  4. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

Off-topic, but has anyone with AMD been able to successfully use a game controller?
  5. D

    No bass

Did you get your issue fixed?

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

What my SA told me is that the full transition is only occurring at the end of Q2, and they "haven't seen many" AMDs.
  7. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

Picked up VIN 357* today, Intel Atom. Awesome car regardless.
  8. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

So your SA was legit able to check. Congrats! Lesson of the day: if your SA says they "can't check" which processor you're getting or that it's not "fully rolled out", then you're getting an Intel.
  9. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

This may actually be true. It seems Tesla ran a "test batch" of 354s with AMD but then got a fresh shipment of Atom processors which they decided to burn through :)
  10. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

But you also said: "My SA said someone called today and wanted to take delivery asap so she matched the vin to that person." So your SA was able to pull a Fremont vehicle that went back into the system to Irvine? I call BS. I'd put $100 on that vehicle already being en-route or at the delivery...

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

It's not that different from the Costco example though. The car was transported to the OP's service center for delivery to him/her, only then they refused it. As far as the agreement defining what's "legitimate" - that's exactly why I used the word "abuse". Much like the Costco return policy...
  12. D

    Snippiness 2.0

Yeah, the game of refusing delivery when you just don't feel like it. For the same reason you wouldn't return a TV to Costco to get the latest model even if it was released just a few weeks after you purchased yours. There's no arguing one would benefit from doing it, just that it's abusive...
  13. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

I am honestly not sure why you're so upset with Tesla. You get the car with the specs you ordered and if you get lucky you'll have a few upgrades on top of that. There is no "game" here other than the one you made up. You order a car, they make it for you and you pick it up when it's ready. It's...
  14. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

That's precisely how everyone is loosing. Costco already changed their policies on electronics returns, Tesla will ultimately follow due to the number of gamers out there. And I think refusing delivery does have a bigger impact than you make it out to be - it messes with the EDD and queuing...
  15. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

I believe this is called "abusing the rules". People do this all the time and then everyone gets screwed. Same thing happened at Costco with return policies. Yes it was "allowed" to return your TV every year for the latest model but it screws Costco over and the rest of the consumers ultimately...

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

Not sure why you feel offended by this. If you want to play games and refuse delivery of a car you knowingly ordered without Ryzen then other customers who are more serious about taking deliveries should be prioritized over you.
  17. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

I agree you're not screwing anybody else. That said, people like you should be kicked to the back of the line. Hopefully they'll implement that in the near future.
  18. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

You got a last quarter build 9 days after that quarter ended? Doesn't seem likely... Regardless the penalty for refusing delivery nowadays seems to be 1-2 months of additional wait. Could be longer with your configuration - it's very popular. Just keep that in mind.
  19. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

When did you get your VIN assigned? And which configuration do you have?
  20. D

Some 2022 Model Ys shipping with MCU3 (AMD Ryzen)

    It's called California :)

To take or not to take delivery...

Ah, that may be true. I haven't actually read the bill, I'm too lazy for that. Just going based off news / social media sources.
  22. D

To take or not to take delivery...

The other caveat here is the BBB bill says after 12/31/21 or when the bill is passed, the later of the two. If it doesn't get passed this month this waiting game becomes too unpredictable. I think I'm just going to take the next one they assign. I'm just never lucky enough to win when I gamble.
  23. D

To take or not to take delivery...

I honestly don't know how suddenly Tesla has been pumping out cars so quickly. I unfroze my order thinking it'll take them at least several weeks to match me with a car, and much to my surprise I had a VIN assigned 1 day later. I'm guessing that most folks are delaying delivery for the tax...
  24. D

To take or not to take delivery...

Yes I am very much aware of that, which is why I came here to ask whether Tesla would actually cancel the order. So far I haven't heard / read about a single person this has actually happened to, and I believe they'd be in violation of the order agreement if they did. Now of course if they let...
  25. D

To take or not to take delivery...

Mine specifically states: "For new vehicles, if you do not take delivery within three (3) months of our first attempt to notify you, Tesla may cancel your order and keep your Order Fee."
  26. D

To take or not to take delivery...

I put in my MY order for $6k below it's current selling price. I've been assigned a VIN (for a 2nd time) and Tesla wants me to take delivery. Like everyone else, I'm strongly debating what to do. I don't need the car right now, so I can definitely afford to wait. If anything, the upcoming...

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

This may come as a surprise, but AI actually is used in forecasting by many companies: https://blog.google/technology/ai/partnerships-advanced-weather-climate-prediction/#:~:text=At%20Google%2C%20we've%20been,improve%20the%20accuracy%20of%20forecasting...
  28. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

That graph is just comparing to a single organization's (very old) forecasts. Even the most optimistic forecasts don't show 50% of vehicles being EVs by 2030.
  29. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

There is not a single forecast from a credible source that matches these predictions. This is a fantasy at best. "According to a new report by Bloomberg New Energy Finance, 58% of global passenger vehicle sales in 2040 will come from electric vehicles, yet they will make up less than 33% of all...

What an awesome, in depth response. Thank you for taking the time to write this.

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

Yeah I already figured out the tablet thing a while back ago. My wife gets car sick too, and only since we got the M3, without any electronics. It's definitely something about the car that's different.
  32. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

That's my concern. It seems that with the M3, and possibly the MY as well, Tesla prioritized the driver experience at the expense of the other passengers' comfort. I'm not looking for a sports car, I need a family friendly SUV... Sigh. I doubt the "helpful Honda folks" will let me take the CRV...
  33. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

I typically get a new car every 3 years when the warranty expires. Also, I think what you're describing is 10+ years in the future, if not more.
  34. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

I did test drive the Y. Definitely stiff, though much like the 3, felt more in the back. The question, as others have brought up here, is whether it is the root cause of motion sickness. Bottom line - would you recommend it as a primary vehicle? Assuming you don't have the crv as a backup?
  35. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

Which do you guys prefer taking on longer rides?
  36. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

Wow, this was exactly the discussion I was hoping to have. I did not test drive a cr-v, yet, but I was planning on getting the hybrid version which has slightly more power. I think perhaps it wasn't clear from my original post, but as a driver I love the M3. Comfortable, powerful, fun to drive...
  37. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

That's great feedback! Was anyone sitting in the rear seats? I noticed no one ever complained about the ride in the front with my M3 either.

My "appeal to authority down b low you"? You've got some serious self esteem issues. Go see someone instead of trolling random people on the internet. Go ahead, type your last "insult". This has become so immature and off-topic it's not worthy of further discussion.

I'm not sure what's more nauseating, this response or the smell of my AC and a gas station combined. Good job keyboard warrior, you sure came off as super intelligent /s I actually happen to be a senior software engineer at one of the world's leading tech companies. Unfortunately, I am not an...

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

I don't mind the gas stations. Don't smell nearly as bad as the moldy air coming out of my model 3 AC. And I've already changed the filters a few months ago.
  41. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

Are there any rumors of Tesla improving the suspension? I wonder if it's worth waiting a bit longer. I don't want to mess with aftermarket modifications.
  42. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

Thanks! We liked out CX-5 as well. Definitely fun to drive. Rear legroom is limited though, definitely on the smaller side for the segment. Also very dated on the tech front... I don't think they even adopted wireless carplay or Android auto yet, and their infotainment system looks like it's...
  43. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

Ugh. This may be the final nail in the coffin for me, as that is one setting that helped on my m3.
  44. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

Thanks for the insight! Interesting thing is, we haven't had motion sickness before in our older vehicles. We drove the Sonata to Vegas (4+ hours) and everyone was fine, my son even fell asleep. So I don't know if we're just aging or what.
  45. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

That's probably true but I'm not looking for a sports car. I'd trade 50% of the performance for comfort.
  46. D

    Model Y comfort vs...Honda CR-V

Ok, I realize this is kinda crazy comparing the two, but bear with me... We currently own a 2019 Model 3 with 18" wheels. We live in SoCal. My family, especially those sitting in the rear seats, is finding the ride to be somewhat uncomfortable. I genuinely don't know exactly what the issue is...

Model 3 Tires, Tire Sizes, Types, make / model recommendations, tire discussions, etc

I'm sure this has been asked here before, but everyone's needs are different, so here I go... I need new front tires for my 2019 Model 3, AWD with 18" Aeros. Based on a spreadsheet I found, it appears that Michelin CrossClimate+ come in ranked pretty high. Just wanted to confirm if that's still...

Has ride comfort / stiffness improved?

Currently own a 2019 Model 3 LR with the aero wheels. I love the car, but my family sitting in the rear seats, not so much... I didn't believe my wife at first until we switched places and I sat in the back. I got migraines, nasuea and just wanted to get out of the car. And btw, neither of us...
