Could someone help me understand SGIP?

This is great news! I had 3 Powerwalls installed in February and it would be awesome if I could get the SGIP rebate. I downloaded the Developer Eligibility Application from this page SGIP | Developer Registration Is that what you are talking about? What boxes did you check in section 2)...

    Powerwall charge/discharge pattern

I wish we had more control. What I really want is to charge the Powerwall to 100% using solar during off peak and part peak, and discharge more than my home usage to the grid during peak, down to 25% or so unless there's a storm brewing. In other words CPUC "no grid charging" mode. Since I am...

    Powerwall charge/discharge pattern

I just got my Powerwalls in February. I'm on 1.44.4 and Advanced Cost Saving mode. I'm on EV-A with peak, partial-peak, and off peak. In the morning (off peak and partial peak) the Powerwalls charge from solar until they are 100% full. Then they discharge during peak to zero out the load from my...

    PG&E discontinuing EV-A rate

UPDATE: I got my December bill and I'm still on EV-A. The web site shows I'm on EV-2A but the bill is what matters :)

Northern California PW installs BUMPED to 2020!!

It was the Las Vegas office. No idea if that is official. I already have solar so my order is just for adding 3 Powerwalls with whole house backup.

Northern California PW installs BUMPED to 2020!!

Wow, I read your post and checked my account -- same thing. I called and got my install scheduled for April 27th, 2020! I should have checked earlier!

    New Powerwall quote install

Why not buy one additional Powerwall from Tesla, and have Tesla install both of them while they are at it? It will probably cost less than $10,000 and you'll have two instead of one.

Northern California PW installs BUMPED to 2020!!

I signed off on my order in for 3 Powerwalls on 11/4, permit issued 12/3. I just got off the phone with Tesla, they said they will lower the price to make up for the reduced tax credit for my order and others placed before 11/30. I have no install date yet, but hopefully soon.

South Bay Powerwalls installed & powered on 3 days ago...shouldn't they charge from solar now?

I also live in Cupertino and I'm waiting for my Powerwalls to be installed. I first put in the order October 15, and they said they submitted for permits November 8. How long did your project take?

Can Powerwall charge from solar and export to the grid?

I have Powerwalls on order, so I can't try this yet, but this web site says via the api - which is exactly what we want. hackerschoice/thc-tesla-powerwall2-hack

Anyone install 3+ Powerwalls in San Diego?

I just got a reply from Tesla about an NGOM for my Powerwall order, see below. They are still working it out for customers in the PG&E service area. They offered to do the install without the NGOM but that could delay the interconnection into 2020, so I decided to get the NGOM which does add...

Tesla Solar Panels and/or Powerwall - Northern Napa County

I got a bid from Tesla Solar in August, the initial design specified Hanwha QCell panels and Delta inverter. I said I wanted Panasonic panels and SolarEdge inverter, and they were willing to do that at no additional cost. They switched to 315 watt Panasonic panels. In the end I decided to buy...

Anyone install 3+ Powerwalls in San Diego?

Per CPUC Decision 19-01-030 the NGOM is no longer required for systems > 10 kW, as mentioned in this article: CPUC Approves Energy Storage Net Metering

    Surviving the PG&E test?

Yes, that sounds like a good feature request. We were discussing that on another thread recently: In other words, if you charge from the grid, NEM / CPUC says you can't export that energy to the grid, so you can't do rate arbitrage with storage alone. But you are allowed use that stored energy...

Advice for PG&E Service Connection/Rate plan

It's a heat pump so you need to divide the kWh by the COP of the heat pump, which can be found on the heat pump data sheet. It's typically around 2.2-4.4 depending on the model and the outside temperature. Since you are upgrading your electrical panel, get 225A instead of 200A, the additional...

    PG&E discontinuing EV-A rate

As far as I know the answer is yes, adding storage will require a new interconnection agreement, which has to be NEM2.

    PG&E discontinuing EV-A rate

The PG&E rep told me the rate will stay the same through last day covered by your November bill. The new rate will start the next day. I'm planning to check my current rate plan on the PG&E web site and the December bill.

Powerwall Install from Semper Solaris norcal

Did they break out the cost for the Powerwalls? I got a bid from Semper in August: 3 Powerwalls for $36,900. I also got a bid from Cobalt Power for $40,000. Tesla's price depends on the installation, specifically if you need a main panel upgrade and how much that adds. Tesla told me I would need...

Powerwall Install from Semper Solaris norcal

It's not "commercial" so you don't need to worry about changing your electric service. The categories are based on the output power of the batteries Small Residential Storage <= 10 kW (1 or 2 Powerwalls) Large Scale Storage > 10 kW (3 or more Powerwalls) You can see the current rebate levels...

    PG&E discontinuing EV-A rate

I just called the PG&E Solar Hotline again, and spoke to someone named Nash. He told me that since I installed a solar system and got the PTO last week, that I should qualify to be grandfathered on EV-A for 5 years. He said he doesn't see anything in the rules about prior systems on NEM 1.0, so...

    PG&E discontinuing EV-A rate

I don't think this will work. You need to be on NEM 2 to qualify for EV-A grandfathering. When I called the PG&E Solar Hotline, they said they use the NEM 1 PTO date instead of the NEM 2 date for grandfathering if you had solar under NEM 1. I don't see where it says that in the CPUC decisions so...

Can Powerwall charge from solar and export to the grid?

The summary mentions "large facilities", which means over 10 kW (3 or more Powerwalls). Maybe it was allowed before for small residential. It also removes the requirement for a net generation output meter (NGOM) which lowers the installation cost.

Can Powerwall charge from solar and export to the grid?

I'm a software engineer but I do have an EECS degree. Low cost CTs often output AC voltage proportional to the current they are sensing. If the Neurio CTs are like that, putting more CTs in parallel wouldn't work. Instead you could wire additional CTs in series, or you could use an amplifier to...

    PG&E discontinuing EV-A rate

I just spent the evening reading CPUC decisions D.16-01-044, D.17-01-006, D.17-10-018. I couldn't find D.17-02-017 even though it is mentioned in the PG&E EV tariff. D.16-01-044 page 121 states the following: In this context "successor tariff" means NEM2. Since default residential time of...

Can Powerwall charge from solar and export to the grid?

This is definitely allowed in California -- a CPUC decision early this year says NEM customers can either do "No Grid Charging" or "No Storage Export". CPUC Approves Energy Storage Net Metering Your idea is intriguing but ideally Tesla would add support for storage export. What is the best way...

    Independent Powerwall installers

SGIP has categories with rebate money allocated separately for each. There is little or no money left for the Small Residential category, less than or equal to 10 kW. But there is $25 million left for Large Scale storage, which is anything over 10 kW. This is the power output, not the energy...

Can Powerwall charge from solar and export to the grid?

I'm on solar with the EV-A rate plan. I got a letter from PG&E that this rate plan is ending and I will be moved to EV-2A. Unfortunately the time of use periods for EV-2A are much less favorable for net metering: Peak: 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Part Peak: 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm to 12:00 am Off...

    PG&E discontinuing EV-A rate

No. I'm in a similar situation: my original NEM1 date was in 2003, I switched to EV-A a year ago. Due to a roof leak I decided to get a new PV system which was just installed. Then I got the letter saying I will be moved to EV-2A. I called the PG&E Solar Hotline today, the rep had to ask two...

    900 mile Supercharger road trip

How many of the California Superchargers are solar? Tejon Ranch SpaceX Gilroy and Harris Ranch do not have the solar roof as shown above, they are not as easy to find. At Gilroy they are next to the Sony store. For Harris Ranch, the Tesla web site says near the Harris Ranch Inn and...

    900 mile Supercharger road trip

We wanted to try out the Superchargers with our new Model S P85 so during Thanksgiving break my family took a road trip from Northern California to LA and back. I'm finally getting around to posting this. In hindsight I wish I had a time lapse video of the charging screen, since it starts out...
