Must live right! I have been waiting for months.

    Skidpad for 2021/22 LR?

I am having remarkable difficulty getting skidpad results for the new Tesla S. I found it for the Plaid (1.08), presumably the same for the S LR with bigger tires, but could not find it for S's with the standard 19 inch tires. Any clues?

Test Drove 2022 S LR Yesterday

I did not realize you could do a vinyl wrap on the interior (I only learned about them to begin with recently). Makes sense.

Test Drove 2022 S LR Yesterday

In Bethesda, MD at the Montgomery Mall. I liked the Tesla rep, Jordan, who seemed very knowledgeable. I had to ask for it, but he did walk me through the car's features, then put me in the car and (I am paraphrasing) said see you in 45 minutes. At no time did I feel rushed. It had the 19 inch...

    2021 with 3 owners?

I came across a used 2021 (yoke model) with 3 owners and around 16,000 miles in the low 90s. Seemed startling to have that many owners in so little time. Lemon?

    Buy new or used 2021/2022?

That a used one might involve fewer headaches than a new one is a good (mostly Tesla-specific) argument.

    Buy new or used 2021/2022?

Good point 2101. We forget that the Tesla of today commonly outperforms most performance cars today, and blows away most performance cars from just a few years ago. 0-60 in 4 seconds use to be rarely achieved by an ICE, and even now it is only the higher end ones that can get into the 3's...

    Buy new or used 2021/2022?

10K is not nothing for me either, but I too see it as not enough. I have driven a Plaid but not the LR yet (have a test drive scheduled). The Plaid is definitely a rocket, but probably a bit dangerous on the street. Floor it instinctively in an emergency and one could lose control. Like you...

    Buy new or used 2021/2022?

I put an order in for an S. I currently have a Dec-Feb window for the LR. When I placed the order, used S's were going for close to list. But now they are (inevitably) coming down. I looks like currently I could pretty readily save $10,000 buy buying a low mileage used (yoke-style) S. I am...

    Used Prices Softening?

When I looked at used prices on the 2021/2022 (yoke models) in the past, they were essentially as much as buying new. Now it seems the used prices are softening a bit. Saw a 2021/yoke with about 10,000 miles for about $96,000 (I assume base model). That leaves the old trade off between cost...

    Do I lawyer up?

There is an argument that the agent you spoke to overrode the contract (how good an argument is another question). I don't know if it is worth the bother, but you could try a small claims action in NC. I don't know what the small claims limits are there. In some states it around a max of...

    Got text from Tesla

FWIW, telling me that I can have an S LR as early this Friday if I were willing to accept a different color (picked white) and different wheels (I chose 19"). I was not interested, but consistent with some other posts we have seen, it does suggest supply is loosening up a bit, which one would...

    Well, that was fast

Available or not, my delivery date has not been advanced. I wonder if it is a function of where one is in the country. Perhaps on the west coast it takes longer (Camas is a suburb of Portland, OR). I actually work in Baltimore, MD (it is complicated). I finally managed to wrangle a test...

    Vinyl Wrap or Paint?

Wow, Lee, that is even worse than I thought. I was guessing closer to 10, but can believe 20. I doubt if it is cheaper in Camas (though I actually spend part of the year in Baltimore). Nice looking cars, Gruiz, though a bit flashier than I would want.

    Vinyl Wrap or Paint?

I am waiting for delivery of a white S LR. I was not crazy about the Tesla colors other than red. Also, my preferred color (don't ask my why, hardly anyone else seems to like it) is a darker shade of green. I had hardly even heard of vinyl wraps before I began this process, but I gather it is...

    Well, that was fast

Wow, I put in an order on July 1 for the LR, have a delivery window of Dec-Feb, and have not heard back yet. I ordered a white one. I wonder if color plays a role. I suspect white is the most popular because of the cost. I plan to do a vinyl wrap.

    For Dec-Feb Delivery Window...

when can I expect to hear from Tesla? I currently plan to use Tesla for a car loan. I assume their algorithm will get in touch in plenty of time, but thought I should check. Any clue as to interest rates? Dankeschön.

Well, just put in my order for a S LR

Sorry to be slow in responding. Actually, my delivery date has been something of a moving target. Currently, Tesla says Dec 22-Feb 23. I think, so far, I have seen 3 different delivery dates. I will believe it when I see the car....

    Mustang E

That is a good point, Masked. Rarely do we drive more than 500 miles, and there definitely would be a few stops, so maybe it is not that big of a deal, at least for a Tesla with good range. A drive we do a fair amount is to the beach and back, about 100 miles each way plus maybe 20 miles while...

    Seats in 2022s?

I believe that I test drove one before the redesign. There was a whole thread complaining about the seats at one point. Sounds like they are better now. But, right, a test drive is a must.

    Seats in 2022s?

Pre-Covid, I test drove the 3, but did not like the seats. Others have also complained about them. I gather that since then they have been changed some. Feedback on the 2022 seats?

    Mustang E

My realtor owns the Mustang Mach E in the higher performance version. He likes it quite a bit, but it is only really suitable for in-town driving. He said realistic range is around 200 miles. As a realtor who drives a lot, it is fine for him. He says what he saves in gas makes the car...

Well, just put in my order for a S LR

Thanks for the heads up. Delivery has been advanced from when I ordered it. I wonder if the new dates apply to an order made with less favorable rates. I actually would prefer to get it in 2023 for logistical reasons. Let's see what happens.

Model S Plaid First Impressions: Ordering through Delivery

Frustrating about the service, but at least it is only cosmetic and you had a heads up given all of the other complaints. And you picked a terrible color. Blue cars should be illegal. 😁 Actually, I don't like any of the Tesla colors. I was thinking about red, but one always hears that red...

Washington State: Model S Plaid/LR waiting room

Agreed, though to be fair, so do most car dealerships. I have a 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo and at one point was offered around half of what I could sell it for. A few days ago I put in an order for a 2022 S LR. Tesla is saying March to June 2023. I plan to sell the Porsche around the...

Well, just put in my order for a S LR

Just put in my order for a S LR. Delivery jumped from Nov 22-Feb 23 to March 23 to June 23, part of the reason I put the order in. I am still keeping an eye out for used S's, but based on what I have seen, the used S's do not make economic sense. They could make timing sense for those who...

    FWIW on handling

I drove a then-current S pre-Covid, but did not like the handling. Recently, I test drove a 2021 Plaid, weird yoke, and all. The handling was much better. I doubt if it could go toe to toe with a Porsche Cayenne Turbo of the same vintage in the corners (I currently drive an older one), but it...

An honest review of the yoke

Rare, but there have been a few times over the years when it might have. The few accidents I have had would not have been prevented by a horn. Still, the other day, I was changing lanes on the freeway, moving into the left lane. I looked to my left, no one there, went to change lanes, and...

T Sportline 360 Yoke Replacement: review in ~2 weeks

The warranty issue would be a concern. Normally, in my experience, if one replaces a part of our car, only that part is taken out of warranty. I have an older Jeep GC. I bought it with a non-mileage limited warranty (not transferable and no longer offered). I added the "Old Man Emu" lift and...

T Sportline 360 Yoke Replacement: review in ~2 weeks

I would not want to try to do the replacement myself. I wonder how easily one can find a competent person in this regard.
  33. D

An honest review of the yoke

Well if all of the other cars had regular steering wheels (highly likely), than the yoke skill set would be less practiced. One might, so to speak, mostly be practicing with a regular wheel, and perhaps never get sufficient, consistent practice with the yoke. I am speculating having never...
  34. D

An honest review of the yoke

The yoke was a dumb idea. But I hear that you get used to it. One review said he was going to sell the Plaid due to the yoke because he often drove other cars and thus had to often sort of relearn yoke driving.
  35. D

Model S Plaid Lease Question (technical)

Well, the dealer could be right. CA sales taxes (and fees, etc.) will apply to the new car that you buy. According to the internet, CA has a 7.5% sales tax. On a 150 K car that would be $11,250. Add in some fees and other costs, and most of your "profit" (I would not call this a true profit...

    Used 2021

Thanks. Considering long-range only, all of the used 2021s for around 90K were the old version. The newer version (and some older versions) were in the 100K plus range. I would buy new before paying that price.
  37. D

    Looking at used 2021 S

Thanks again for the feedback. So it turns out that all of the used 2021's I could find selling for closer to 90K were the old style. The newer ones (and some of the older) tended to be in the 99K+ range. For that price, I would prefer to buy new. The wait is not a problem for me.

    Looking at used 2021 S

    Used 2021

There are a few around. One in Fort Collins, CO was delivered in Dec. 2020, but as a 2021 model. The 0-60 time is slower, 3.7 seconds, rather than 3.1 seconds listed for the 2021-2022 normally. I guess I would rather have the faster time, but I am also wondering if the car has all of the 2021...

2021 Model S LR for sale, Midgnight grey, black interior

FWIW, I have seen used S's going for quite a bit less. I am in the market but am on the west coast, so am not interested, but my sense is that you are $5000-$7500 high.

How often can I max charge?

Thanks for the feedback. Is HPWC the same as 220?
  44. D

How often can I max charge?

I am pretty much decided to get a 2021 or newer S long range. I may buy used, because it looks like I can save $10,000-$20,000. I regularly make about a 225 mile day trip. As I understand it, that is less than 80% of the normal range, and I gather one should not normally charge over 80%...

To 19" or 21", that is the question

Thanks for the feedback. I looked at 21” wheels on Tire Rack. With tires, mostly about the same price as Tesla’s. Forged wheels are still pricier. 20” could be a good idea. That is what I have on my Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Work well.
  46. D

To 19" or 21", that is the question

I have my eyes set on a new S, probably long range. 3.1 seconds 0-60 is fast enough (and until quite recently would have been thought of as crazy fast). How much better handling would I get out of the 21"versus the 19"? If I went with 19" summer tires versus, for the sake of argument, 21" all...

Better to buy or lease S due to tech improvements?

Thanks for the feedback. When I crunched the numbers, buying was actually a bit cheaper than leasing on a monthly basis. As noted, I am normally someone who drives cars into the ground (I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee with 175,000 miles and a Porsche Cayenne Turbo with close to 90,000 miles). In...

Better to buy or lease S due to tech improvements?

In the past, when I explored leasing or buying, leasing did not make sense. It was cheaper to buy, but hardwired into that analysis was that I was going to keep the car for a long time, not trade it in after, say, 3 years. I normally drive cars into the ground. But in comparison to ICE cars...
