U.N. official 'delighted' at VW scandal, sees clean car 'revolution'

Here is the direct link to UN climate chief comment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYYLQvghcK0. I really like the statement and it couldn't be further from the truth. The only exception, I believe, is that Tesla will be one of the many "car of the people" in two years.

    My batteries recharging themselves?

    Going downhill?

    Firmware 6.2

Since I got the update (.153), I could not able to make the sound effect of "balloon squeal" from my car (P85) by stepping on the pedal. Anyone experiences something similar? Hopefully it is gone for good after nearly 2.4 yrs. I can sense the throttle behavior is different but more driving is...

    Software Updates Free for life?

Maybe we should look at existing implementation. Does first generation iPhone still getting the latest iOS update?

My P85 is Haunted! Any thoughts?

I had a similar issue, my wife sometimes would grab the blanket from the back seat when she gets cold (which is quite often) the defroster would immediately turn on, the car AC is turn on full blast, and both seat settings would turn on to #3. From what I was able to observe, the static...

    Will Tesla support CarPlay?

So glad that Tesla is not on Apple sort list. Google Android would be a better solution since we are already using Google map. Imagine that you have to use iMap? Now imagine Tesla uses Google Navigation? Navigon is the worse thing that came to the Model S! Yesterday I had to use my phone since...

Come on Elon! lets break this record with the model S!

Toward the end of the video, he asked to give him a Model S. Maybe something Tesla can arrange for a Pikes Peak run?

Come on Elon! lets break this record with the model S!

Maybe one step at a time. For example, currently the speed record since 2011 for Pike Peak International Hill Climb is being held by a Nissan Leaf for a "production electric car"! (Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pikes_Peak_International_Hill_Climb#Cars). This makes me want to cry since my P85...

Cell phone holder: What a GREAT idea !!!

I put mine by the door handle since I have to remove it before I can open the door -- thus, can't forget the phone in the car. It is the cheapest solution and seems to work well.

12V battery issues (error messages/car charging problems)

I got my car back with new high voltage battery pack this afternoon. Feel new again with the car being been waxed and cleaned inside out and they even included new floor mats -- thank you Tesla Denver Service Center! Best service ever! Still no regrets even for the trouble that I went through...

12V battery issues (error messages/car charging problems)

Update: Well, the 12V warning was a symptom rather than the actual cause so be warned and be prepared for the worse. I got a call tonight that my car is ready with a new battery pack -- everything is new except the casing of the battery according to Tesla. The pack was shipped from CA on Monday...

12V battery issues (error messages/car charging problems)

My 12V warning came on today with message car needs service. Called Tesla Service Center in Denver but was told to wait until Monday before I can arrange for repair. Meanwhile I have to drive the old camry and prepare for a barrage of questions from everyone on why my car battery is dead. No, it...

    Supercharger Burn-in: Darien

Here is a simple solution: Why not install IP video camera for each parking slot? Tesla doesn't have to monitor it -- just let's people who uses supercharge station to monitor and keep an eye out before they would arrive. If there is an ICE'd occurrence, an email of text message can be sent to...

Horrible Service - 4 Service Trips No Fix Auto Present Door Handles

Humm...not sure why it is useless -- I do use it everyday. It's quite useful but not absolute necessary -- that covers everything in life including buying the Model S. :-)

    You might consider charging slower

There is one very important fact that everyone seems to forget: higher current means more stress on the battery. Over time this stress leads to fracture of the graphite particles which hold the lithium -- hence, battery degradation. This is the same reason that when one uses SC -- the current...

    Pike's Peak Hill Climb

For straight sections I got it to 60 mph but mostly 30/35 mph due to Memorial weekend heavy traffic. Toward the end there were some really sharp turns -- so be aware! :-)

    Pike's Peak Hill Climb

First Tesla on Pikes Peak -- Americans' favorite mountain? Here is my Electra at 14,110 ft altitude. Going up was consuming at at rate of 1040.0 Wh/mile on average. Going down gained a net of 17 miles of charge. The average energy used was 365 Wh/mile when combined both up and down for a...

P85: Has your spoiler been installed?

Got mine in late January (car delivered on 12/20/2012). I also got my parcel shelve about a month ago and a second one about a week ago. I'm delivering the second one back to service center since I didn't pay for it -- inventory error I think.

Proposed software remedy to "remaining miles (range anxiety)"?

That's exactly what I'm been thinking since I came from being a navigation engineer (GPS/INS) for aircraft. What Tesla needs is a Kalman filter (optimal estimator) to predict available range based on available information including user's info on destination combined with measured states of the...

Alas, new problem: Windshield Stress Fracture. Anyone else?

My windshield just showed a crack so similar Vger! I drove to work this morning and didn't see any crack, but when I got home late tonight and saw a crack at a similar location to Vger. I didn't hear any pop or a rock hitting the windshield at all -- wondering whether stress must have something...

    Connectivity: Galaxy S3 bluetooth

For those who didn't know how to set Galaxy S3 bluetooth to "discoverable" mode, be sure to click on the check be (circle in red below) when in bluetooth setting: The phone should become visible for about 2 mins to allow Models S to discover it: Enjoy! Love my car so far!

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

P02337 arrived safely home at 11:00 pm! It's P85, white, swapped snow tires at pickup and won't install performance tires until summer. Besides a large due bill, I'm very happy. I think I'm going to call her "Electra".

    Cruise Control improvements

Me too find this is quite odd! Toyota has is right where it requires to push toward the driver to cancel instead of pushing away. Pushing toward the driver is easier and makes natural sense than pushing away -- cancel should be easier than resume IMHO. Someone is not thinking right when they...

Phrases no longer valid with the Model S

    Pike's Peak Hill Climb

I live in Colorado Springs and have been planning to do just that when I do get my car P3214 (Perf 85 kwhr). If the weather does permit and able to receive the car in January, I would to do it as soon as I can but that is one big IF. February would be kinda dicey due to weather.
