    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Also regarding 40.6 - I've now got waypoint stops, but no live/sentry camera viewing on the iOS app. Does anyone in AU have this yet?

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

This autopilot speed change has been annoying me with 2021.36.5.x also. I've just updated to 40.6 and the behaviour is still there. There are no NoA enabled roads here in Tassie, so what I'm seeing has nothing to do with motorway exits and the like. While on autopilot, it just mysteriously...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Another reason PWM dimming is used, is that the colour emitted by LEDs can change (sometimes dramatically) when they are driven at low currents. PWM reduces the intensity without affecting the colour, which is important for meeting many automotive/traffic lighting standards.

    TeslaFi vs Teslascope

TeslaFi wins hands down for me. TeslaScope initally looks prettier, but the UI presents far less information, and it is not nearly as useful. I tried to use it, but got frustrated with the "pretty" obscuring the "useful", and there is much less "useful" in it to begin with, compared to TeslaFi...

How hot should the batteries get while charging?

It doesn't *always* do it. I think it might only do this extra heating when you charge to high SoC levels. The data below is from another charge session, with SoC ~60%. There is ~45kW going into the battery, and the battery inlet temperature is slightly lower than the battery temperature (~26°C).

How hot should the batteries get while charging?

Unsurprisingly, it turns out that charging deactivates track-mode, and you can't turn track-mode on while in a charge session.

How hot should the batteries get while charging?

I'm hoping to get 3-phase power connected in the next couple of months, which will let me see what happens with the Model 3's 11kW internal L2 charger. I expect the charger will need a lot more cooling than the battery.

How hot should the batteries get while charging?

There are a lot of 50kW CCS chargers in Australia, with some 350kW types now as well. All of these can plug straight in to the AU Model 3, but none of them show up in the car's navigation, and there is no way to precondition enroute to them. The first time I charged at the 350kW station (from...

How hot should the batteries get while charging?

Wow, this is all really interesting info. Clearly Tesla are okay with their batteries being a lot hotter than I expected. There is a 350kW CCS charger not too far away, so I'll go and find out how much extra heating happens there, and also see if it will charge while track mode is active, and...

    Strange charging behaviour

I made a new thread: How hot should the batteries get while charging?

How hot should the batteries get while charging?

I had always assumed that the battery pack required some heating before high-speed DC charging, but that once the charging got underway most of the noise the car makes was due to cooling. I had also assumed that ~25°C was best for the batteries. See this (admittedly old) post which mentions...

    Strange charging behaviour

Not the same issue as the OP, but I have recently started using TM-Spy to monitor a lot more real-time info about the car, and noticed some very unexpected charging behaviour yesterday. I was connected to a 50kW DC fast charger, and I started charging at ~50% SoC. Most of the charge was at...

GPS frozen, headlights on, power reduced message, etc.

I had a similar problem (frozen lights and gps location, no autopilot, etc.) and had to do a hard reset / cold boot to restore things back to normal: https://www.mountainpassperformance.com/tesla-model-3-hard-reset/

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I imagine this is because the main change is the addition of V2 Track Mode, which isn't as relevant for SR+ vehicles. Although this update also includes the improvement where it delays the bluetooth phone audio connection until you sit in the car and close the door.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Alas no FSD preview in this version. The big change is the inclusion of V2 Track Mode, which looks interesting, but of limited use off the racetrack. Might be able to melt some rubber with the new front/rear torque split control?

Did you tint the windows on your M3?

I have a Red/White 3P and felt the same about the white seats. They are great, but were super visible from outside the car. I had SunTek CIR 40 Black on the sides and Suntek Carbon 38 Black on the rear. I specifically asked for the rear to be single piece, which I gather is a bit more difficult...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It seems to me that the cruise-control doesn't engage until your foot is completely off the pedal. It's smoother if you turn on cruise and then take your foot off slowly, or else push the pedal to get up to the set speed and then take your foot off. But yeah, the normal thing of just turning it...

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

Is anyone using this in Tasmania? I have 2019.40.50.7 in my 3P+ but cannot activate NoA at all. I have it enabled in settings, but never see an option to activate it for a trip in the turn guidance list as described in the release notes. I have tried numerous trips, including Highway 1 between...

    Model 3 Accessories

Not on my own car (ostensibly due later this month) but on a demo vehicle for work purposes, I ran a RPi off one of the front centre-console usb ports. Both those USB ports and the 12V lighter socket seem to power-down pretty promptly when the car is locked/sleeps. I didn't think to try...

    Model 3 Accessories

I've seen some videos showing where to get 12V power on a spare pin on the VCLEFT module, but when I looked there on a RHD version, the pin was already used. Could pull power from the 12V lighter socket, but I think that is limited to 10A. Do you know how much current the liftgate system draws...

    Model 3 Accessories

Me too. Although in AU it 's probably cheaper to get them direct from China: Intelligent Car Electric Tailgate Trunk System For TESLA Model 3 | eBay But I'm bothered by the install manual showing it taking power direct from the 12V battery. From first-hand experience installing emergency...

White Interior on the Model 3 in Oz

I imagine they would almost always have a new revision of the computer in development. At the same time, the development computer he refers to may just be a prototype version of the current computer. White Interior on the Model 3 in Oz

Well, I'm happy. White interior now available in AU, and the Pearl White paint which previously cost extra is now the default option. Just turned my 3+ year reservation into an order. P3D White/White + "FSD" (ahem). Will be a bit of a change up from my current ~$3k '04 Honda Civic... :-) I'm...

White or Black Interior Poll - Australia

What I'm seeing in that video, is that from the wheel style, ALL those cars were Performance versions. I guess it makes sense to deliver the higher-cost / higher-margin cars first. But the thing that I would like Tesla to take note of, is the very high proportion of white-interiors that their...

White Interior on the Model 3 in Oz

Apologies for cross-post, new to forums and didn't realise this thread existed. Trimming it a bit. I am really disappointed by the lack of white-interior option in Australia. As a day 1 Model 3 deposit holder, I’ve been waiting over 3 years for this car to become available. I imagine many...
