Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Hey, haven’t been on here in years. But wanted to stop by and say thanks for the advice all that time ago. I remember your posting before the “megathread” started. I have now closed out out the last of my TSLA positions for now but enjoyed the ride, my “free” model 3, and healthy retirement...

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Update... Delivery today! Got a call today that the backup camera was fixed with software. Sounds like the last update to the car didn’t install correctly and was causing the issue. Car was in great shape and I didn’t find any cosmetic flaws. Phone app didn’t work at the start of delivery...

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Ouch @hmerrill3, I feel for you. We got matched around the same time, but assuming they can get my car straightened out this week, I should be driving it this weekend. RE test drive: I also took a test drive/orientation up in the Woodlands a few weeks ago, so I would have less questions at...

Recommendation for electrician and rates in Houston Area

Same here, I used Cham’s, and live in the Woodlands (long drive for home but he scheduled when he has other work in the area). I had already pulled a 100 amp cable from my install location to the breaker last year when I had some remodel work being done. So pretty easy job for him. He added a...

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Congratulations @WayneGTX !!! Thanks for the picture. I see mine still sitting in the same spot, far left near the roller doors. Hopefully the repairs go well this week. Fremont is definitely making the SC job harder. A tip for others: You can’t read the TVs over the hanging from the...

    I don’t see any Silver w/ 19” 3s in there anywhere.

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

I think your car might have been the one backed up against the window right over my daughter’s head in this photo. Good luck! EDIT: never mind, aero wheels. I’ll check another photo I have.

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

I hope it happens for you @WayneGTX. I also got my FedEx package today, the day after my failed delivery. I had no idea I needed that complete for the delivery to happen. Nobody scheduling my delivery mentioned it. Update on my delivery... I left a message this morning for an update on my...

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Not so good update on my delivery... I arrived this afternoon about 10 minutes late, due to an accident on 45 (of course). After getting there, I am told the firmware wasn’t up to date and it would be ready to go after the update. I had my 3 year old with me who was begging to ride home in...

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Update on my delivery... I got a call today that my car is in, passed PDI “with flying colors”, just waiting on the temp tags to come back from DPS. Asked me to move my pickup to tommorow or Saturday. I plan to get it tomorrow. I’ll follow up once it actually happens.

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Ouch, I feel for you. I would be incredibly frustrated if I get moved, but at least they are trying to make sure cars are ready for delivery. How much notice did you get on the moved date? Hope the parts arrive promptly. I’ll be on the lookout for you config next week.

Confirmation from the local delivery team of the date/time I picked from my ISA last week.

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Update from Houston. North Houston SC left a voicemail with me yesterday to say they have me on the books for the 22nd. The would call again to confirm once the car has arrived. Told me to call back if I had any questions. Maybe they are getting better (or more organized) at the...

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

TL;DR ... Expect the MPVA to take 2 - 4 weeks. Pro Tip: Make sure all the financials on your account page (loan amount, deposits, etc.) are all correct or you will get an incorrect MPVA once you do.

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Great news. I would also like to hear from anyone picking up at Houston North SC. Was delivery smooth? Did it happened date/time as scheduled? (I am carving time out of my work schedule, so want to know how firm the delivery date/time is.)

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

An update from me, Alliant finalized all their stuff yesterday and got the info over to Tesla yesterday. My ISA then offered delivery on Aug 22nd with a selection of available time slots, a couple hours later. Things seem to be moving along the expected time schedule post MPVA.
  18. K

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

I finally got my MPVA yesterday evening. Sent the ACH and notified Alliant to sync with Tesla for the payment. Got a reply from my ISA today asking for Alliant to provide proof of funding, then he would get the car shipped. Not sure I will catch the “once a month” boat to Texas, so who knows...

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

That is why I had my ISA update the info I was seeing online today. I would be infuriated to have the wrong contract produced and then get shuffled back to the bottom of the pile to be corrected.
  20. K

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

I hope they “accidentally” shipped mine too. ISA replied to me today, they had my finance amount wrong in the order details. He said still waiting on contract.

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

I drive by there all the time and always check on the inventory. Never seen a single Tesla, I think they have all been trucked to date. I’ll post back if I see a 3. That place was overloaded just after Harvey.

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Still no contract here, looks like I missed the current batch headed to TX. I also never got a VIN from the ISA, so I am wondering if “we matched you with a car” was real or not. Hard to believe they have my very common config sitting around in a parking lot in Cali for weeks waiting on a...

Thanks for the update. How far out did they schedule the delivery? North Houston SC right? And did they give you the name of a delivery specialist there? Appreciate it

    MVPA Backlog

I have posted elsewhere, but I have been in the same, assigned vehicle but no MPVA to pay and ship, predicament since 7/18. On a good note, my wall connector and non-aero wheel kit did arrive this week.
  26. K

Has anyone broken through the contracts/paperwork "freeze" yet?

Count me as another Houston delivery waiting on MPVA to ship the car. Been waiting on the contract since 7/18. No trade in. Using Tesla partner CU and they are just waiting to send the money. I haven’t seen a VIN in my account (where should it be), but my ISA said I was matched to a car already.

According to Tesla - Any Deliveires that Dont have a contract already are delayed

Production Hell has now officially become Delivery/Contract Hell... I am in a similar situation. Waiting on the contract, so I can pay (CU + cash) before they will ship to Texas. Contract automation doesn’t even require robots.

    Houston Delivery Experience July 3rd

Wayne, I configured last Monday and Ali contacted me by email Wednesday that my car was ready. I provided all the outstanding items on the delivery profile that day, now just waiting on the contract (MPVA). It sounds like once that is complete, I will be able to ACH the balance and the car...

    Houston, TX

Any chance a there is a Model 3 owner heading to Woodlands Market Street Cars and Coffee in the morning? I still haven’t made it down to the Gallaria (new baby). I will be there in the morning and hoping to catch one.

Any other reservation in Houston area get this?

Thanks for all the reports on the Model 3 floor model. Midnight Silver is what I plan to configure, so I can’t wait to get down to see it. I can’t make it down there until Thursday next week, but hopefully can get more time with the car than the mob this weekend. A local tint shop told me on...

    Model 3 Ordered

Houston Gallaria has a Model 3 for viewing starting today. The promo email rendered it in white, but not sure if that is the actual color. I am booked solid until next Thursday, so can’t get down there. If anyone swings by there post a picture or at least let us know the config and VIN.

    Model 3 Ordered

Congrats! I have enjoyed your informative posts over the years. You are well deserved to have an early 3 in Texas. This is the exact configuration I plan to order. Post or PM if you are headed to the Houston area for any reason. I would be more than happy to treat for a meal or something...

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

They were @outdoors pictures, not mine. I suggested he take them down because of some personal info that could be seen in them. Maybe he could crop the photos and post again.

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

I attributed the extra heat in the S interior due to a warmer pack heating the floor (heat rises), considering the vehicles were parked side by side in the same conditions. At what level does the S battery heater kick in during extreme cold? I appologize for posting my best guesses as fact. I...
  37. K

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

I disagree. The entire floor of the vehicle is the battery. If the S was keeping the battery temp at 12C (and the 3 is not), it would be the most logical answer to why the interior temps are different. I would also want to know how much battery drain their was, as it looks like neither was...

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

First post in this thread. I agree with you that it is the energy efficiency that doesn’t provide enough heat in freezing temps. So I am requesting they strategically make it very inefficient. ;)
  39. K

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

The reports from the Model 3 road trip are suggesting that it isn’t charging at full rate after coming off the highway in extreme cold. I watched the video on hard acceleration and regen to warm the pack, and while that would be fun very few owners would know or be willing to do that on the...

Lack of battery heater may cause very slow SuC charging speed

Tesla needs to have a “Max SuperCharge Rate” mode. So if nav is headed to a SuC, start heating the pack at the correct time to arrive at ~25C or so. Optimizing to reduce SuC stop times is in Tesla’s best interest to reduce congestion. I’m not an owner (yet), so maybe one of you could send...

Poll: Tesla US EV Federal Tax Credit ends Q1 or Q2 ???

I agree with your sales estimates after seeing the numbers last night. I would change the probabilities to: Pessimistic Scenario (5% likely): This is the slowest selling quarter historically, no effect to 3, but it does for S and X. Optimistic Scenario (90% likely): April definitely seems to...

Your Action Requested re: $2500 TX EV Grant (December 11, 2017)

Thanks for the update on this. I had lost track of where this was in the process. I just sent in the comments below. “”” I am writing to add comments regarding the tax rebate incentive for plug-in vehicles. I have followed this matter closely and previously leased a 2011 Nissan LEAF before...

Modle 3 delivery schedule vs US Tax Credit schedule

Hmm, I guess I had that wrong. IEVs refers to it as “sale registered” here too. US Federal $7,500 Electric Vehicle Credit Expiry Date By Automaker That makes it much easier for Tesla to push to 2018Q2. Massive April Fools Day delivery event? Who is the joke on?
  44. K

Modle 3 delivery schedule vs US Tax Credit schedule

For S and X, let’s say 7500 in December (biggest month of the year). Another 10k in Q1 (slowest quarter of the year). So 48,000 - 17,500 equals ~30k Model 3 production (not deliveries) through March. That is getting very close if Tesla plans to hit 5k / week at least once in Q1.
  45. K

Modle 3 delivery schedule vs US Tax Credit schedule

First Assumption: Just a reminder that the 200k mark is for vehicles produced with US VINs, not deliveries in the US. I would roughly say that most deliveries are 2 weeks following production completion, just a WAG of “4 weeks” from configuration divided by two. Like @crackers8199 above, I...

Initial SR Model Production to ONLY include base interior

Tesla’s goal is to hit “full production” which is 5k / week initially (10k / week is with more lines that they don’t have). So remember they have supply agreements for all those interior parts too. They do not have an agreement for 5k PUP parts per week, because they don’t expect to have 100%...

Found a LOT of Model 3's in a Tesla lot - Pictures inside

Sorry for being slightly OT, but wanted to confirm the production count from IEVs. I followed up with Jay Cole on this. He did clarify that they have gone back and adjusted old numbers to separate US from North America sales. So you are right. It is accurate within 100s of vehicles through...

Found a LOT of Model 3's in a Tesla lot - Pictures inside

The InsideEVs numbers for Tesla sales are for North America, not US. So even the 152k number is slightly high (10k at most). At this point I see Tesla targeting the 200,001 US production unit as job number 1 on April 1st (aka 2018Q2). S and X production for Q1 will most likely be highly...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

Has anyone seen this search traffic yet, Google Trends - Web Search interest - Worldwide, 2004 - present 10x the number of searches of any other month, and we are only 4 days into April. Model S and X demand should take off as a side effect.
