Is a 4-bike rack for Model X doable?

I suspect the Model X vertical weight constraint comes from hitch set up. On the X the hitch receiver is an accessory that attaches vertically into the car. On the Y the receiver is more traditionally mounted directly unto the frame.

Order from Dealer or Directly from Tesla (in NJ)

The process is technically the same with or without going to a physical location but if you go to a location you could get assigned an Advisor. This should happen automatically if you go for a test drive but if you don’t I think you can request that you get an Advisor. They could be helpful if...

Thanks. Only 4 bikes here but heard it could get pretty tight on 4-bike rack with 4 bikes.

Tesla Model Y Long Range vs AWD

If you ordered non-performance (i.e. AWD Long Range) Model Y today you would get 316 miles of range.

Is a 4-bike rack for Model X doable?

Thanks everyone. Seems like putting more than 2 bikes might be ify although there are some people like aix93 that feel comfortable exceeding the stated limited. I would probably put myself in the more conservative camp and at the same time not sure about installing a new hitch or changing my...

Is a 4-bike rack for Model X doable?

Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for the hitch and the install (if you did not install yourself)?

    Thanks. It's a 2" hitch receiver.

Is a 4-bike rack for Model X doable?

I have a '19 X with the hitch receiver that came in a separate case. I am now looking to get a bike rack that can transport 2 adult and 2 kids' bikes and won't give me issues at a supercharger. The hitch receiver per the User Manual can only handle 120 lbs. Considering that the bikes are 25-30...

For NJ residents: don't forget $5k rebate

I will venture to say no based on the description of MSRP condition. Specifically it's MSRP "set by the manufacturer". So don't think dealership discounts can bring the MSRP below $55k. But Tesla does not have traditional dealerships so not 100% sure.

Delivery Support Specialist: a black hole

Don't have a Y ordered but have experiences with buying a 3 and an X. Buying a 3 (my first Tesla) was a nightmare in part because I was anxious trying to get the car right before the 1/1/19 tax credit dip. My delivery date got canceled twice and both times I was getting runarounds if I was lucky...

Test drove PUP MY in Princeton NJ.. Loved It

Have a Model X and Model 3 (both non-performance). Got to test drive MY PUP and it was great. Drives like a 3 (sporty) with utility of an X. Also even with the 21" wheels the ride was not as bad as I expected.. not that much worse than my Raven X. Will eventually trade in my 2019 X when trade in...

For NJ residents: don't forget $5k rebate

My understanding is that as of now you will have to put in an application to get the $5K. At some point in 2020 the state will shift the program to Point of Sale, meaning you will get the rebate at the point of purchase. Per website (link here), the post-purchase rebate application process will...

    Having second thoughts

Since it's your first EV and I am guessing this will be your primary family car I would put good amount of emphasis on range. Keep in mind that Tesla's get roughly 85% of EPA range on highways (and less in harsh weather). And with a used MS' range possibly dropping let's say 5%-10% from EPA...

    RWD LR Order?

Just my opinion.. there will never be a RWD MY. I think eventually there will be a SR+ that will have slightly lower range to previously advertised RWD. That or Tesla will bring back RWD for both M3 and MY (a less likely scenario). Hard to imagine a scenario where there is a RWD for one of the...

Lack of transparency with Delivery ppl

Similar experience when buying my 3 in late 2018. Delivery date changes, inconsistent explanations that did not make any sense and dismissive customer service (“we”ll ca you don’t call us”). Different circumstances but guess Tesla has more work to do. The car will be worth it though.

SF Bay Area shelter in place

I am Tesla fan boy and a casual Elon admirer. I have shrugged off Elon’s prior odd behavior as just a genius being eccentric. Tesla’s and Elon’s response to coronavirus is a tipping point for me in how I think of Elon. It also makes me feel less enthusiastic about the company and the brand. I am...

A useful youtube video on tow hitch install for M3. No mention about warranty impact. But watched the video and the only permanent modification is a cut at the bottom of the back bumper.

    POLL: Will you buy?

Few comments that might be useful: Not 100% sure but think you should be ok with warranty. There are Model S longevity stories online. The high mile Model Ss featured in these stories are typically used for car service (one did routes between Las Vegas and LA). Drive train issues were addressed...

NJ 5k incentive for EV under 50k

My understanding from talking to a sales rep is that once the program is up and running (before July) Tesla will take $5k off eligible cars. Before that you can still get the rebate (effective for cars purchases/leased after Jan 17 2020) but you have to wait until the program is launched and...

    Confirming Delivery Performance Model Y

I am with PJFW8. The flurry of e-mails (not just March e-mails), per my speculation, is Tesla trying to 1) maximize 1Q deliveries 2) get a clearer picture on who is ready to take delivery 3) get a clearer picture on the trim/option mix 4) encourage shift to more immediately available...

For NJ residents: don't forget $5k rebate

Thanks for sharing. The definition of MSRP from your screen shot seems to be different from what the sales rep told me (MSRP includes options). Not sure who is right but I am leaning towards NJ Board of Public Utilities from your screen shot. I went back to the same agency to see if they would...

For NJ residents: don't forget $5k rebate

Sorry. My previous was post was not very clear and I forgot about the wheel upgrade. The base AWD is $52,990. So you have $2,010 to play with before you get to $55k. You can do some combination of the following: --the induction wheels ($2k) --non-white paint options ($1k-$2k) --white interior...

For NJ residents: don't forget $5k rebate

Don't forget that NJ passed a law providing EV buyers with a $5k rebate. MSRP needs to be under $55k. Confirmed with a local sales rep and the MSRP is after options (paint, FSD, etc). So if you're looking at an AWD MY can only get either a paint option or the white interior. If you want FSD you...

    RWD LR Order?

My thought is that LR RWD is out of the picture unless they bring it back for Model 3. Given the steepness of the battery/power train improvement curve, it's very possible that within the next 12 months or so the SR/SR+ variants of M3/MY will have similar specs to a LR RWD specs circa March 2019...

Is the Model Y the perfect EV.....

Think we're still in the early adopter stage and the "avalanche" will not occur until driving EV becomes a "no da" decision kind of like having a smartphone over a flip phone. Two things to start the "avalanche", which I am guessing will start in US in earnest around 2030 (2025 bull case). 1)...

Ordering the Performance Model without the upgrade

I am thinking the there is more to the two versions than the aesthetics (i.e. performance tires, etc. vs "stealth"). The "performance" option one has higher mph which leads me to believe they have different drive trains and/or software configurations. Also I would not just assume that if you...

    RWD LR Order?

I don't blame Tesla for getting rid of RWD since they don't make it for M3 anymore. However, unless they deliver RWDs to folks who ordered them eventually or maybe deliver a comparable/better product (e.g. SR+ with ~300 miles), with hindsight this would be poor form given $2.5k deposit. Probably...

    X or Y?

Have a 2019 raven X and considering trading it in once Y production ramps up and I have positive equity in X. The only rationale would be to save on financing payments. Also considering getting a cybertruck and having two large cars may not be the best thing for me. Otherwise love X. My whole...

    Family w 3 kids - Choose X or wait for Y?

I agree that 65-70k for an X seems like a rip off but on the flip side if you look at S's and X's they hold their value well after the initial 10%-20% decline. So that's why they are a viable option for someone who wants to get into a roomy Tesla soon and have an option to get out of the car...

    Model Y price change?

The price decline is related to when Tesla made white standard like someone else said in this thread sometime in mid-2019. Tesla made some other adjustments at the time like the included Autopilot (if I recall correctly). Customers who changed their order at the time got the new pricing based on...

    Family w 3 kids - Choose X or wait for Y?

I traded in a minivan for a new X last June with an idea that I may trade in the X for Y around mid 2021 if the third row was big enough. I really love the X but don’t love the payments (I am one of the people doing the Tesla stretch). Chances are, seeing the pictures of the third row, I will...

Tesla Model Y Long Range vs AWD

Since Model Y order page was last updated in August 2019, Model Y SR+ and AWD LR got 10 and 12 mile boosts, respectively. I am curious if Tesla will keep the real wheel drive LR variant for Model Y since it's no longer an option for Model 3. Tesla likes to keep things consistent. My guess is...

[POLL] For Cybertruck Res Holders ONLY, what type of buyer are you?

Never thought I would buy a truck and did not expect to place the order prior to the reveal. Love the EV specs to price proposition and the look really grew on me. What are you using your cyber truck for?

Just getting it because it looks cool and the specs are same as model 3. Own model 3 now and would have to trade it in. Maybe will sober up by then and cancel the truck order. But I really love it.

    Delivery frustration...

I ordered Raven Model X on April 25th. Just few days ago was given a delivery date for June 11th.
