Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
You could probably have guessed, but the 10% of wind noise that is remaining is making me crazy :) I'm looking for the culprit so I can remove it too. Next step is to use some electrical tape around the area on the outside to isolate the source. I'll chime in when I've got it locked down.
Bit of background: I took my ‘16 90D into service to replace the drivers window actuator because the window was making strange noises and thinking that things were in the way when rolling back up, when they weren’t. After one diagnosis appointment and one service appointment for the replacement...
I didn’t see another Tesla the entire trip from Calgary to Diefenbaker Lake after stopping at the SCs in Strathmore, Bassano, Medicine Hat, Maple Creek, and Swift Current yesterday. I think 6 is probably plenty for the next year at least.
Can anyone report on if the Bassano station is pushing electrons yet? Looks like Medicine Hat, Swift Current, and Maple Creek are all showing life, even if it’s only around 25-30kw. I’ll be stopping by every station from Strathmore to Swift Current as well as Davidson Friday and Saturday and...
We’ve got a SC at a very popular mall about ten miles north of Calgary that is just across the line into Rocky View County. You guessed it, the SC is called “Rocky View”, which actually wraps almost all the way around Calgary and is thousands of square km in area. A little more investigation...
Well that was fast. CHAdeMO adapters were available on Tesla's website for a matter of hours, and then out of stock again. Seems either the demand is quite high, supply is quite low, or both. I was not fast enough on the draw to get one.
I'm likely leaving Calgary December 20 and returning January 2. I'd be happy to buy, borrow, or rent a CHAdeMO adapter. They look to be out of stock new - I got my Model S in May and this is the first time I've looked into it. Something tells me I'm in the right place and just need to dig a...
It's a good point - with the suspension set to "low" (which is my norm) I think there's a chance of some rubbing if I hit a large enough bump with the wheel turned to just the wrong spot. At "standard" or "high" setting, I suppose it would be less likely. For those worried about it, 19" wheels...
I personally love the look of 22s on Model S - I think they are the perfect size aesthetically. But, I've also been a victim of going over a vicious pothole on the stock 21s that caused a big tire bulge and a forced replacement. I'll stick with 21s, since Canada is not a smooth place to drive.
I bought the Continental Viking 7 Contacts referenced in an earlier reply. Haven't had much snow yet, but I'm liking the setup - the Vikings are quieter than the Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires that came on 21" rims with the car. Link to my setup and photos: Winter tire recommendations
I bought Tuxmat floor mats and installed them a couple weeks back. I've got two young 'uns and couldn't abide the snowy boots on the rear seat floors, let alone my own. The Tuxmats seem pretty robust and cover almost every square inch of carpet in the car, including up the sides. They look great...
Could have been even worse... imagine a '51 Chevy pickup on a '56 chassis with a 2 speed powerglide - my first vehicle, started driving in '95. Two words: body roll
OK OK it was a gorgeous 5-window pickup, but not exactly a highway star :)
I'm super excited about Calgary to Moose Jaw being completed as most of the fam is back in Saskatchewan and I can get to them by this route without a long charging stop. My two previous trips since buying my S 90D have been through Edmonton, with looooong stops in Vermillion and North Battleford...
A couple weeks back I bought a set of Continental Viking Contact 7 winters and Replika rims from PMC Tire in Canada (I'm in Calgary). I had an interesting time with sizing due to going with 20" wheels from stock 21", and 9" wide rims on front and rear, from the 8.5" front and 9" rear of the...
