    East Coast timing

Current Model S owner in Orlando - ordered morning of March 31st, 2016 (in line at the store). Have not received an invite to configure yet. Update: After reading a couple of the previous posts, I decided to check the MyTesla page. Guess what? My Model 3 is now ready to be designed! Wonder...

    Supercharger - Columbia, SC

Well how about that! This is a nice surprise for my Thanksgiving trip from Orlando to Charlotte. Thanks Tesla! Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but......the route is great for traveling I-77 to I-26, but in my MS60 the 169 miles from the Savannah SC is just as challenging as Santee SC to...

    Touchscreen: Mositure/Leak?

I have the same problem as described earlier....delamination extending down the sides and across the top of the display...oozing sticky fluid from the bottom of the bezel. I first noticed a small defect at the top of the screen in April 2016. I'm guessing I had about 51K miles at that point at...

Driving to Savannah, GA with a S60

Supercharger - Savannah, GA Check this thread. - - - Updated - - - Thanks Larry for expounding on the challenges of FL weather. I should have mentioned that checking the weather forecast for my route thru Savannah is always a part of my trip planning. Even the wind forecast that can be...

Driving to Savannah, GA with a S60

I've had my MS60 for over 2 years and have made the trip to NC (via Savannah) 4 times. The 171 mile stretch from St Augustine is definitely doable with some due diligence. Here is my experience: I always leave St Augustine with a full battery. This means about an hour and 15 minutes of...

Retractable Door Handles - Is It Practical?

Has this turned into "Handlegate" yet?
  10. Chas F

No Tech...was told I could just press handle?

I can attest that you are 100% correct! I have a non-tech (VIN 93XX), delivered in May 2013, and my handles present-on-touch whether the car is locked or not. Around the same time as my delivery (may have been the same day), I saw a guy take delivery of a red 40kWh while I was waiting. He tried...

    Supercharger - Charlotte, NC

I always thought Columbia should have a Supercharger as the I26/I77 interchange is a popular route going south from the Carolinas.

    Supercharger - Charlotte, NC

I think we'll be lucky to have this one operational by Christmas. It's not permitted yet and from the site notes, it seems there has been at least one review postponed/cancelled. Doesn't bode well for a speedy completion. Until there is a permit, there won't be any site activity. Anyone have...

    Why Tesla, why now?

To clarify, EV (Electric Vehicle) translates to electric car here as well, albiet a sub-category of car. When someone says "great EV", that can be interpreted as "great for an EV" but not necessarily great in the broader sense. If I did misunderstand your intent, then my apologies. Semantics...

    Why Tesla, why now?

Massive improvement? Really? Comparing where technology in general was 100 years ago to where it is now would seem almost like magic to a time traveler, but the ICE would be still be very familiar to them. If I had 100 years to incrementally improve something, I would be very embarrassed for an...

    Supercharger - Charlotte, NC

According to the project notes, an email was sent to the project manager to reschedule the site plan review. Must mean the plans are ready but there was some sort of schedule conflict. Hope he/she can do it before the end of this week.

    209 mile trip in a 60?

I did a similar trip in my 60 in June from near Charlotte NC to the Santee SC supercharger. My normal route would have taken me through the Lumberton NC Supercharger (146mi) before heading to Santee with the first leg of my trip being mostly 2 lane rural roads with speed limits averaging 45-5O...

Hum coming from rear of car

My hum issue sounded exactly like yours. They ended up replacing the drive unit. They send a recording of the sound to HQ and if it is above a certain level, they replace the unit. At least this is what the SC told me.

    Supercharger - Plantation, FL

If Ft Lauderdale or Miami is the final destination from the north, then Port St Lucie, which is only 120 miles from Miami, could be your last supercharger stop before transitioning to destination charging (as intended). With that premise, the "Miami" supercharger should be located to support the...

    Supercharger - Charlotte, NC

I had hoped to use this SC this Thanksgiving when traveling to NC to visit family but by my estimation, it will need to have permitting started within the next two weeks in order to go live by then. This has been on the "coming soon" list since March. What's taking so long?! Oh, and sorry if...

Autopilot, Adaptive Cruise Control and the Possibility of Retrofitting Existing Cars?

This may seem like a silly question, but I'm not a car guy per se and have always wondered why AWD is such a requested feature on the model S. AFAIK, the only benefit is improved traction, allowing better performance in snow or off-road. Doesn't seem like a big deal for a sedan. Am I missing...

    Miami to Boston

I've done the Savannah-St Augustine stretch both ways in my MS 60 earlier this summer. I had somewhat ideal conditions each time (which is not unusual in FL). At 70+ mph, range mode, 92 deg temps, no rain, charged to 195 rated range...I was able to keep my wh/mi at around 290... Sometimes...

    Supercharger - Charlotte, NC

Now that the Charlotte SC seems to show some movement as evidenced by the latest change to the supercharger map, I have to believe it is at the permitting stage. Based on the new map, it looks as if the SC will go in near the I-85/485 junction just to the west of downtown. Anyone have the...

Who did NOT get the tech package?

I didn't get the tech package and don't regret it either. I bought my car more than a year ago when the feature set was different. Back then, driver profile (a biggie for me) was included with my leather seat package. Parking sensors did not exist. For me, the only interesting features were...

NEXT UP: Supercharger Network in SOUTHEAST

I dunno. Seems kinda out of the way for travelers traversing I-85 and I-77. When you consider distance between Supercharges and the location of existing (or in progress) Superchargers - Burlington, Santee, Greenville SC - the Concord Mills Mall seems to be a much more strategic location from the...

    Long Trips ?

It's only 120-140 mi from Orlando to Port St Lucie so this should be no problem even in a MS 60. No need to go via Port Orange. I believe if you order now, you will have all the charging options you will need (based on your travel scenarios) by the time you take delivery. If not mistaken, the...

    Ron Jon Resort Charging Options

My family and I will stay at the Ron Jon Resort (Cape Canaveral) next week for Spring Break (traveling from Orlando) and have not found any viable charging options during our stay there. This area almost seems to be a dead zone for EV charging. Nothing shows on Chargepoint or Plugshare but a...

What Freshener / Odor Neutralizer to Use?

Ozium. Supposedly the best on the market. Got mine from Discount Auto Parts but I'm sure you can find it on Amazon. Get the original scent and give yourself some time before you have to drive the car. It might be a bit overpowering at first.

    Lighted Tesla T for nosecone

As I look around now at other cars, I can't help but wonder: "Why doesn't every manufacturer make their front logo lighted?" Seems to be a very cheap and dramatic way to promote their brands. It looks way cool but no other car but Mercedes does this AFAIK. Is there a law against it or something?

    Learning from recent purchasers...

I've always thought a second UMC would be a good idea just in case my current UMC failed. Charging could be a huge inconvenience (if not impossible) while you wait shipment of a replacement. Think what you would do if the UMC failed on a Saturday night.

Do you mean the DRLs? If so, they are standard in all models. I don't have the tech package.

DFib So how did your 60kWh do from Savannah to St Aug? How much range was left? Did you have to slow down because of the cold? Updated....... nvm. I just saw your post in the Jacksonville Supercharger thread. Impressive Wh/m!

    Battery Care & Maintenance

Without going thru this entire thread to see if this has been suggested before, it seems to me an answer could be that Tesla develops a balancing process as part of the yearly maintenance. This would cover the 40's as well since Tesla has full control over the level the battery can be charged to.

Crazy to buy 85 with no options?

I own a 60kWh and have always defended it as more than a local car. I think I made the absolute best choice for me by going without the Tech Package. I have not had one instance of regret. Having said that, my commute is only about 30 miles and I live in Florida. Living in the northeast with a...
