That very loud and painful "clunk"

Has it been determined that none of the A-packs can charge a over 90kwh and all B-packs can charge at 120kwh?

That very loud and painful "clunk"

Forgive me for being clueless, but how does one determine which generation (A,B,C,D) battery our car has? I checked out the wiki battery table, and my VIN is somewhere in between the A and Bs.

More than 1 year owners--Dash Rattles evolving?

Are the TSW Nurburgring rated for Model S? How would I figure that out? Man, I'm a noob.

Really? Why? Are Volk and BBS better than TSW?

Good Place to buy rims in Seattle?

Hey, mods, sorry about the off-color joke. That was a misguided attempt at humor, and I did not mean to offend anyone or to make your jobs harder. The quote I received last year was, in fact, given in mid-September. I should have bought them then! Today, the quote that was emailed came out...

Good Place to buy rims in Seattle?

Actually, I was intentionally trying to be raunchy and funny. I'm kind of disappointed that the mods are busy little elves today.

Good Place to buy rims in Seattle?

Can anyone recommend a good place in the Seattle area to buy rims? I just got off the phone with the local service center who informed me that standard 19" rims are now $500 each. Is it me or is that kind of crazy? That's almost twice the quote I got about six months ago when I was told they...

Driving to Mt. Baker WA ski area?

Thanks, ChadS, for your help! I should have mentioned that normally conditions are pretty dry most of the way to Snoqualmie, but on the roof rack day it was raining terribly on the way there and back. Surely that must have affected the rolling resistance, but an almost 50% penalty still seems...

Driving to Mt. Baker WA ski area?

We would have a single set of skis on top. For reference, for our usual 120-mile round trip to Snoqualmie West ski area, we start out with about 215 miles and end up with 65 miles at the end of the day. However, when we had the rack and skis on top, we just made it home with 8 miles to spare...

Driving to Mt. Baker WA ski area?

Has anyone tried driving to the Mt. Baker Ski Area (in WA)? It seems to be only 1.5 hours and 65 miles from the supercharger in Burlington, but I wonder whether we would be pushing our luck with a roof rack, 3500 ft elevation, and cold weather. Does anyone know if there is charging available on...

Tire Totes (covers) Now Available at Tesla Gear

Is that the sort of longevity one can expect from any winter tires, regardless of brand and quality? I'm torn as to which winter tires to get. Seattle winters tend to be mild, but we drive up to the mountains to ski every week for about 12-16 weeks each year. It's about 120 miles round trip...

Wiper blades are driving me crazy

Has anyone tried using different wiper blades on their Model S? When we picked up our car in March, the detailer applied Aquapel to the windshield. Ever since then, the blades stutter and drag across the windshield constantly. Six months later, the situation is slightly better, but the...

    Rear jump seats

Are you saying the Torklift can only be installed on vehicles with rear junp seats or on VINs 5248 and lower?
  18. H

    Rear jump seats

Did you get them after delivery? If so, $2500 at the new rear seat price plus $1000 for post-factory labor in addition to 9.5% comes to $3832.50. Sounds about right.

Call for donations for Port Angeles High-Powered Charger

Thanks, Buzz for all your hard work! Do you know if they'll be installing a 14-50 as well? I remember someone making that suggestion a while back. It would be good for people like me who do not have twin chargers and would free up the Clipper Creek for those who do.

    EV friendly hotels: Portland?

As far as I know, the only hotels with EV charging are more on the high end: Hotel Monaco and the Heathman Hotel. We have a room booked for the end of July at the latter, and when I called to confirm about their charger the front desk person answered in the negative. It was only after I insisted...

    Pacific Place (Seattle) Ground Clearance?

I want twin chargers mainly for trips up to Victoria and the Olympic Peninsula. There will soon be a 80A Clipper Creek EVSE right in the heart of Port Angeles, which would be great for getting a quick charge during lunch. Last time we were in that area, we had to use the Forks 101 RV Park which...

    Pacific Place (Seattle) Ground Clearance?

I have air suspension and park at Pacific Place all the time without having to raise the car. The caveat is I always leave using the 6th Ave exit. I can't imagine the 7th Ave exit would be any different, though.

    Nose cone should be painted

No offense, but I don't like that at all - neither the color nor matching the nose come to the body. I'm not a huge fan of the plastic nose, but attempts to hide it just seem to accentuate it even more. The only solution I've ever liked is wrapping it in carbon fiber.

    Back to 242

I used to only get 240 and occasionally 241 charging on a 14-50 at 40A. Once I started dialing it down to 20A, I got 242 all the time, sometimes even 243.

Need help with road trip to Olympic Peninsula

Has anyone taken their Model S to the Olympic Peninsula? My spouse and I want to stay near Forks, WA because it's close to the coast and rainforests, but there is a dearth of charging in that remote area. Our cabin is about 150 miles from Seattle, and we have a 85 kWh. We are staying for...

    5/3/13 Announcement press release up

Obviously, I agree that features should benefit all owners. It's only fair, right? On the other hand, I can also see why this guarantee is geared toward new owners. Ostensibly, someone who already owns the car had enough confidence in Tesla to take the risk of early adoption. The resale value...

    5/3/13 Announcement press release up

Wells Fargo isn't guaranteeing the resale value of the car - Tesla and Elon are. WF is merely taking care of the financing aspect. My point is that I would be willing to go with a higher interest rate for that guarantee. Frankly, I think the guarantee should apply to any Model S sold...
