Did you name your Model S, and if so, what?

Emmett, after Doc Emmett Brown and his fission-powered car.

    Vancouver Store

I was talking the TJ at the service centre, and he indicated it will be downtown, not Oakridge.

How do you get voice command to work?

It works almost every time for me when I remember the words to use, and don't slur them together (particularly the object, ie location or call recipient). I mostly use it for Nav, less experience with phone and haven't ever tried it for music. Now I am curious, though, so I think I will try...

    Naming FM radio stations

The favourites section would certainly work, if I could name them.

    Naming FM radio stations

I have HD on, tried it off with no change. Overall I would think the ability to label stations should be easy to implement. More than one bar of stations and use of widespread metadata is almost a basic radio function in this age. Little things that are noticed every time I drive.

    Naming FM radio stations

I noticed I got some info on the radio when we went down to Seattle a couple weeks ago, but I don't get any up here. It's not because the stations here aren't transmitting metadata, because my wife's car displays the station and song information. It bothers her too that my car - the innovative...

    Naming FM radio stations

Has anyone ever been able to name the radio stations they put in favorites? I have not been able, but on a TM video, they had names when they showed a close-up of the screen. I would love to actually have station names rather than frequencies. As well, any news on the possibility of more than...

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

Hi, Today, for the irst time, my app says "Contacting car, this may take a few minutes" and then eventually says couldn't contact. I have 4.5 firmware, but have had and it was working up until today. Anyone else's app non connecting today? ie it's a network issue on their end and will go back...

Vancouver Sun - Tesla and Sun Country Highway

It's too bad they they propagated misinformation regarding a Tesla "dealership" (at least from the quote) rather than a short paragraph/couple sentences telling the innovative showroom-order online model that bypasses the often slimy/profiteering dealership model. I always point this out as a...

Vancouver to Kelowna - Single Charge?

Thanks for the info. I've been asked about Kelowna a few times and my answer was always "It would be tight, but maybe. I would probably charge on the way but I don't know for sure." Now I know and can give a better answer :)

    Trip to Richmond, BC

The city of Richmond just installed 5 chargers in publicly available areas and the newspaper said that they're currently free to use, but when I went to look at one, it looks like they'll eventually take credit cards down the road. The locations noted in the Richmond paper are: Richmond Olympic...

    Delivery party!!!! Having some doubts???

It may go as kvietor's did, but I hang out here, read a fair bit and still obsessed enough for my delivery to last about 4hours (although maybe 45minutes was insurance related). It is such a great car, I suspect many people are laser-beam focused on it while taking delivery. If you have someone...

Delivery Date Range for Canadian Production cars

I got the armour but plan to have the partial hood removed and a full hood applied. Despite the great detailing done prior to delivery (it looked AWSOME), I could see the line. It will annoy me, so I will correct that. Mark said he was going to be talking with a guy who will be doing an...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

There was one Model S with the '85' in the service centre when I took delivery today, but mine doesn't have it (I have an 85) nor did either of the other 2 there. It was not a performance, and the manager said he had noticed it when it arrived, but didn't know why it had the 85 nor why the...

    Model S Canadian Deliveries

Picked mine up today :D Mark, the new Vancouver manager was awesome and patiently answered all my questions, took me through the car. I almost laughed out loud (beyond Tesla grin?) when I finally drove it away!

Delivery Date Range for Canadian Production cars

You can select either home or Seattle as long as you let them know that you really mean Vancouver. They will do home if you want, I was told, but it would be faster if I was willing to pick it up at the Vancouver service centre. I liked "faster" and picked mine up today :D A huge thanks to Mark...

    Alaskan Airlines article

In case anyone wanted to read, Alaskan Airlines' Feb 2013 magazine had an article on the Model S. It was reasonable length and didn't seem overly biased although I did want to add a couple more facts here and there. ParadigmAlaskaAirFebruary2013

Delivery Date Range for Canadian Production cars

I got the call for next week...when I am away :( Killing me. Hans has been great, said I might be able to get it Friday night off the truck if no delays at the border but only the Fremont tech would be present. Since I leave the next morning and won't get to play, I think will look at my options...

OWNERS! - do you get awkward questions about price tag?

For those who are calling it a rude question, I disagree even if I do find it slightly awkward. If someone is pressing for the cost of yours I would consider it rude/gauche, but pretty much everyone I speak with are interested in the general answer - usually because they are now intrigued and...

I called today and now have a VIN :) My DS also sent me some stuff to fill out. Things are progressing :) Which probably means less sleeping for me. It's like Christmas in February!

Delivery Date Range for Canadian Production cars

I am not getting a performance; I am getting an 85kWh Dolphin Grey with panorama roof. My number was P109 (in the first group as well; my delivery link just came this evening).

I just got my delivery button and the same window. I have the 14-50 in place, but was in the middle of preparing/painting/organizing the garage. I can live with having the car sooner than pessimistically estimated :)

Delivery Date Range for Canadian Production cars

My delivery button appeared as well, with window January 27-Feb 10 as well. I started to go through it but stopped when it said Pick-up in Seattle. LottDenn - did you have this as well, or just change to delivery?

Model S floor mats in Tesla Store

+1 Getting ripped off with an option to verbally spar to try for a reasonable price and perhaps even a good one is not a business model someone should be defending.

Would you Buy Model S if it had an ICE instead of Electric?

Nope. I wouldn't consider spending this much for a car. I was thinking Prius, or perhaps Smartcar or something. I still can't believe I am paying this much, but I have dreampt of a car that doesn't run on gas since I saw a DeLorean that ran on nuclear fission.

Connectivity: When will WiFi be enabled? (for Tethering and lack of 3G coverage)

I would hope they would implement tethering, as I know many people (including myself) are not keen on another monthly bill, particularly when most of us already have data plans with our phones. Wifi, to me, would be more for loading music or syncing with my I home network rather than 3G. I...

Ferries, nighttime, winter, and the Model S lighting controls: not a good mix

I would think a simple solution, and one I have seen in some ICE cars, is simply to have DRL off when in park. That works well and should be relatively easy to implement (if gear=park then DRL=off else DRL=on essentially?) in the the next firmware update.

    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

Did any of the Sig owners-to-be use the financing option? Doug's post in the Sig thread showed a financing button and mentioned Tesla financing. I would be interested in hearing what rates they offer in comparison to the banks.

Where is it? Do you know the actual address? I can't explain why, but it feels important to me. I think it is because Hans told me it would open this fall during the beta tour, and I would love to be able to drop by locally and get a Tesla "fix" Err, I guess I should specify I was...

Me three :) Actually, I need to get the NEMA 15-40 installed and then I really need to get my garage organized so my new baby doesn't come home to a mess. And yes, that could take me the 3 months. Anyone have any advice/experience with garage organization systems?

WTF?? I know we are being screwed here having lived in a few other provinces first, but this is insane. We really should be allowed to get our own insurance. The provincial extortion is horrid.

I wanted green initially but my wife nixed that. I loved the grey I test drove, so that's what I ordered. It looked great with the grey performance wheels but since I want all-seasons, I will see what the regular wheels look like in real life.

    Canadian Pricing and Delivery
