What if "full self driving" is impossible?

This is one of my biggest concerns as well. I have been around computers for a very long time, machine learning is not yet proven at this level and probably not for a long time. I do understand the capabilities and limitations of these cameras we're using as well. Even high-end Canon L series...

Who bought their car in March with basic autopilot for $2k

my bad,it was 3k according to sheet too.

Who bought their car in March with basic autopilot for $2k

Also Tesla don't really negotiate, take it or wait until Elon decides otherwise. For me personally, I could careless about fsd but autopilot is a must.

Who bought their car in March with basic autopilot for $2k

yes 3000$ is fair, it was 2k if buy with the car or 3k after delivery. Autopilot is now priced in with the SR+, it's not free.

    Trading in my M3

I'm still waiting for some more trade-in values but so far the offers are between 30-33k to trade in my SR+. When factoring everything else in, it's an 8-12k hit plus another 10-15k for the LR. A Tesla rep advised me to sell the car privately or find someone to take over my loan. At this point...

    Trading in my M3

Thank you Lencap, this information is very helpful. We live in Orlando so 240 mi range is more than enough for daily driving. Our problem is that we do take long-distance trips very often. 192 mi, in theory, is great but in real-life situations 192 x .05 (battery degradation) = 182 mi...

    Trading in my M3

thank you for all the great responses, Carvana online offer was $33,200. I have been trying to get a trade in offer from Tesla but was unable to get anyone over the phone. If you could get me this contact that would be awesome

    Trading in my M3

I'm thinking of trading in my SR+ after less than 6months with 8k miles to get a LR. Did anyone go through this before? what is the best way to maximize the trade in/ sale value? what is the expected loss? 5k? 10k?

New Model 3 LR AWD cars no longer have Homelink installed in the factory.

it was never in the SR or SR+; For LR however, Tesla did announce that they will remove Homelink. If you look at the order page you will no longer see it listed. Disappointing but they are transparent about it.

Model 3 Scratches All Over And What Tesla's Tech Said

My black model 3 is 3 months old and it looks as good as the day I got it. Black is not multicoats like the upgraded colors but with proper care it will last a very long time. Those marks should buff out just bring it to a detailer.

Planning to only use 110 outlet

just like everyone else --> 14-50 is the best way to go, will save you money in the long run. Faster and more efficient; if you're handy with a newer house, DIY is easy and under $50. 120v is a temp solution or if that's your only option.

Why is the 12V port not in front with the USBs?

Took me about an hour to add a 12v port next to the current usb ports. Best mod ever. If you dont have the confidence or tools take it to a local audio shop

"Breaking Bad" - Daily articles now hitting the news wires

it's very common for people to hit the wrong pedal especially nowadays that everyone mastered multitasking. Both my mother and a very close friend both hit their garage door within a few months apart. One was a brand new toyota rav4, according to my dad around 2k to replace the garage door. The...

People are crazy not to buy Tesla cars!

I don't know about everything else but a Model 3 is not going to be cheaper than a Civic in 5 years even at 20k mi a year. People are often over exaggerate the maintenance cost and assume the Tesla to be almost 0.

WTB: Model 3 with AP (EAP/FSD optional)

to my knowledge it's only free for people with fsd

WTB: Model 3 with AP (EAP/FSD optional)

buying new will have the new hw3 and slightly better build quality. Good luck!
  18. thaian207

WTB: Model 3 with AP (EAP/FSD optional)

any reason not to purchase new? most m3 are late 2018 and 2019. Much easier to purchase new with the subsidy

Day of judgement is coming and I'm disappointed in the 3SR owners.

Those people should burn hell if there's one.
  20. thaian207

Trade in model 3 sr+ for model 3 lr awd

damn seeing all these complaints about people wanting to downgrade their SR+ I thought I was the only one wished I got a LR instead. yup I f**** up too, financially it doesn't make sense to trade in for a LR, I guess I will just have to wait.

PSA: Use PIN-To-Drive or Keycard if you have small children

I appreciate your initiative, our cars are easier to 'drive' since we don't have to start the car like ICE but I don't think it's a design flaw.
  22. thaian207

Took delivery but thinking of returning. Am I being paranoid?

You could try to recalibrate the windows, if it continues get it replaced. My M3 was built in Mar 2019, so far I haven't notice anything except a few light scratches.

    Just ordered my 3rd Tesla

Do you drive with your fog lights on? (POLL)

mine are off during daytime unless I set it to manual but it will revert back to auto after each drive. I would love to leave them on all the time when driving.
  25. thaian207

Do you drive with your fog lights on? (POLL)

yes even during daytime I would manually turn the HL and fogs on.

    Construction zone autopilot.

I don't think he was on autopilot, AP will disengage as soon as the driver takeover even with minor adjustments.

NIssan Leaf is a Better Car Than the Tesla Model 3?

Bolt, Prius, and Leaf they're all ugly, I would rather drive an ICE.

What should I look out for at car delivery next week?

Inspect everything exterior and interior, and take your time. These cars are known for paint defects, scratches even dents. Look for loose parts, rubber weather seals around the doors. If too many defects reject the car, getting things fixed with the SC could be a horrible experience...long wait...

Problem getting car delivered without swirl marks and paint damage

Sadly this is extremely common, mine has many paint defects as well as swirl marks from the poor attemp to "detail" the car before delivery.

Want to add Speakers, amp and subwoofer BUT since tweeters are deactivated with Partial Premium?

All speakers are there except for rear amp and subwoofer. There's no way to activate those speakers ATM according to Tesla. Making those speakers active will require another amp, extensive wiring and fine-tuning...in other words won't be cheap/easy. I did something research into this right after...

    Over 3 years...still waiting...getting fed up

Hang in there bud, I know it's not fair for you guys. Even some of us here in the US are not too happy with the way Tesla handles things. Constant back and forth price changes and I feel like I know more about the M3 than most of their employees. But in the end Tesla is still a new company that...

Largest concern about buying a model 3

Tesla is far from a perfect well rounded car manufacturer. It will take them years to work out everything. IMO they got too big too fast and people have unreal expectations for them. Their cars are very well designed and engineered. I felt in love with my M3 more than I thought I would.

    Supercharger Speed

ok thank you everyone, must be bc I have an SR+
  39. thaian207

    Supercharger Speed

Our first road trip with the M3, I purposely picked out all 120kw stations but only maxed out at 101kw. I was hoping for at least 120kw and maybe even 145kw with the new updates. Is this the same for everybody?
  40. thaian207

    On route battery warm up?

my bad I don't have it
  41. thaian207

    SR charging kit

unless you're abs tight on budget, you will regret not getting the SR+.
  42. thaian207

    On route battery warm up?

mine is 2019.8.5 and I have it, this feature is automatic when you set Nav to a supercharger station.
  43. thaian207

    Model 3 Pricing

Based on my experience with Tesla, I don't think you will see another price drop anytime soon. I think Tesla is losing money with the SR 35k trim. If you're looking for a SR or SR+ those are very well priced. They might lower the LR and Performance trim since they do make more money on them.
  44. thaian207

Not seeing the increase in 5% update range

    yes performance only.
  45. thaian207

    Falcon Wings

thank you for all the responses, you guys are great! I'm def looking forward to owning a Model X in the near future :D
  46. thaian207

    Falcon Wings

I'm a current owner of the Model 3 looking to get a used Model X. Tesla is not the best when it comes to servicing their vehicles so I would prefer to avoid it altogether if possible. Should I get a used model S instead of the X bc of the falcon doors? how reliable are they? how often do they...
