Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

Welp.. NCDS says they only arbitrate if the warranty is still active when they get the request. If you file it with Tesla under warranty and they run the clock out trying the UV fix before they deny it as a warranty issue, NCDS won't touch it. Guess I'll try putting it in the garage with a UV...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

Just stumbled upon this thread.. My 2018 S developed the yellow ring near the beginning of the year, they cancelled one appointment to address it (COVID staff shortages) then got around to the UV treatment a month before the warranty ran out. Didn't work (though improved it some), tried it...

Model S/X deliveries drop off cliff, down 56%

I had a 2013 S. Last year I test-drove the 3 and then bought a 2018 S instead. The trunk on the 3 just isn't comparable to the cargo space in the S for road trips and carrying pets around town. My replacement for this one might be a 2022 Y, but a 3 just isn't viable for me.

    Tesla Charger inside, charging outside?

We occasionally charge outside. I've got a couple shims of wood slightly thicker than the cable I place on either side before closing the garage door so it won't push directly on the cable, they're still thin enough the door thinks it's closed and didn't hit an obstruction. Right now if we...

Dual Wall Connector - Load Sharing Data Cable?

Set the master HPWC to the max the breaker and power cable size will support (so assuming they used the right cable, 100A breaker / 80A derated load in your case). The car will draw the maximum the onboard charger can use as long as the HPWC is advertising at least that much. If you've got two...

Dual Wall Connector - Load Sharing Data Cable?

There's a footnote in the manual to the effect of - if you run the data cable in the same conduit as the power feed, the insulation rating on the data cable must be equal or greater than the insulation rating on the power cables. Most signal cable has a 300v rating while THHN/THWN typically has...

Keeping Charging Unit Attached to NEMA14-50 for 24/7/365... or not?

I once knew a guy who did, at least with his entertainment center. He couldn't bear the thought of paying for electricity to keep the TV and DVD in standby mode. And this was around 2000, before Smart TVs and DVRs actually had any appreciable standby power requirements. Seemed like a lot of...

Keeping Charging Unit Attached to NEMA14-50 for 24/7/365... or not?

Leave it plugged in. The receptacle side has a rated number of plug/unplug cycles before the contacts will wear out or lose their spring and make poor contact, and there's no reason to continually plug and unplug it.

    Raleigh, NC waiting room

We picked mine up at Wilmington St a few weeks ago. The only problem I had at that point was after I requested in email and they confirmed we were going to transfer my vanity plate from my older S (that they were not doing a trade-in on), when we showed up to get the car, all the paperwork was...

    Version 9 on AP1

My 2013 and my wife's AP1 car got V9, my new 2018 S I picked up two days later did not have it yet (and still does not). After driving V9, I find the V8 UI harsh and much prefer V9. I'm hoping my new one gets it soon. Summon on AP1 seems a lot more aggressive with the 1" lip on the concrete...

Recommended signal cable for HPWC sharing

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

Recommended signal cable for HPWC sharing

Does anyone have a recommendation for signal cable (and where to source it) to use between HPWCs when setting them up for load sharing, IF I want to use the power conduit? The install manual states if it's in the same conduit that it have a voltage rating equal or greater than the insulation...

Selling my 2013 S85 (Raleigh, NC)

No. There's never been any indication there's anything wrong with the battery. The battery and drive train are under the unlimited mileage warranty until June 2021 It does not have an ESA. I'm not sure what options are available for a third-party extended warranty on Teslas.

Unpopular Opinion: I love the bottom-half UI in V9

I've been driving v9 since last Tuesday in a 2013 and 2015 S. The 2018 S I picked up yesterday hasn't gotten the update yet, and I find the v8 UI really harsh, even though I've been using it for over 5 years and it's only been a week since I upgraded. I can't wait until the 2018 gets the update...
