looking for rim saver/protector for model Y 20" Induction Wheels

I have Talsem wheel protectors which needs a bead breaker to install. I used to have Rimsavers but “someone” still managed to curb the rim because with enough force, it will rip it off the wheel because it’s basically double side taped on. With the Talsem, curbing it shifts the position but...

Trailer wiring and a dangling connector

The OEM connector for the trailer hitch is accessible with the rear bumper removed. It’s actually not that hard. There are a bunch of videos online.

    Talsem wheel rim protector

The Rimblades I had looked great but ultimately, offered only light protection. They did their job and needed to be replaced after some curb rash. A quick Google search led me to Talsem. Took longer than I thought to receive them (shipped from outside the US). I installed them when rotating...

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

If you’re really skeptical about it, take the wheel to a rim shop and they’ll re-machine the mating surface of the wheel to match the stock lug nuts. I started overthinking the whole spare tire thing. I even ended up buying 2 of them (a steelie and the aluminum one when Modern Spare was on...

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

The 255/45-19 tire has a 28.04” diameter and the 255/40-20 tire has a 28.03” diameter. The spare tires are either taller (Murano) or shorter (Equus) than the stock tire but still works.

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

I also have this kit, along with a 12v compressor in the trunk. Tried it on this and it leaked. To close to the edge. Used the spare for almost a month because the Tesla specific tire was back ordered.

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

Same bolt pattern for the wheels regardless of them being 19” or 20”.

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

It’s a perfect fit. When the wife had a flat, she drove around for about a month waiting for a replacement tire as it was back ordered (no FWY).

    DIY Spare Tire Kit

The spare does not fit anywhere but the trunk (no sub-trunk, no frunk, etc.). I bought the adapters but ended up not using them. The conical lug nuts do a good enough job centering the aluminum wheel.

Brand new Y with flat tire - my journey

Running the spare now. Driving local / no FWY anyway, so no problem driving on the spare until the replacement arrives.

Brand new Y with flat tire - my journey

Well, having a spare and tools ready to go sure paid off. Got a flat the other day. It’s unrepairable. Need to wait up to 2 weeks for the exact tire replacement to arrive at the tire shop. I certainly got screwed… looks like a machine screw.
