Thoughts on Superchargers After a 2300 mile trip

I've done three 1,000+ mile round-trips in my 2023 MYLR, and the only negative I've had was at the Baton Rouge Airport Blvd SC. The first stall I tried would not charge and then I had to fight with it to get it to unlatch from the vehicle. Moved a few stalls over and everything was fine...

EV maker Fisker says it may go out of business

Not looking good. Fisker Ocean reservation cancellations top 40,000 as the EV company tries to fight off bankruptcy, leaked data shows Somebody in my part of town owns a silver one. I've seen it three or four times. Overall, I like the appearance, but I'm guessing the owner is not too thrilled.

Worst (and Best) superchargers (Mammoth, CA is awful)

Yeah, my only knock on Bucee's is sometimes they get SOOOO crowded. But I love the 24/7 amenities. Worst for me is Shreveport. I've already mentioned it in two other posts on TMC. So I won't belabor it. Freeway access is wonky and it's in the far corner parking lot of a dying shopping mall...

Biden administration rolls out new tailpipe rules that will boost EVs and hybrids

Yes, and this is just more fuel (pun intended) for the automobile dealers who hate EVs and are pushing against them. They have a lot of advertising clout.

Buying a used Hydrogen car? They're like $7500-$11k

You'd also want it to be under warranty for the entire term of ownership. I've heard that many repairs are insanely expensive.

Is the Rivian R2 a serious challenger to the Model Y? | TMC Podcast #61

Ehhh, it's all idle speculation at this point. I don't always agree with Elon, but he wasn't wrong when he compared prototypes to full rate production.

    Nissan Ariya

It's a nice looking vehicle (saw perhaps my first one just yesterday in a parking lot). But based on most of the review videos I've seen, it just doesn't stand out very well. And the range on the base model is not great. I also don't understand their price drop strategy. "starts at $40,980...

    Fisker Ocean... ?

Can Nissan even fix themselves? They're corporate debt has a "junk" rating. And they are the only major car manufacturer in the world right now with that dubious distinction. What would they even want from Fisker? The brand recognition is minimal and from the reviews I've seen there's not...

    Ram 1500 Charger - 2025

Ehhh, we may be talking past each other. 2nd sentence of my first paragraph "It basically only makes sense if you are regularly towing a heavy trailer over long distances where charging infrastructure is limited." First sentence of my final paragraph "Most consumer just won't need that big of...

People who don't buy because of "charging time"

One of the small, but not insignificant, things I do on road trips at the supercharger: As soon as I put the car in park, I'm opening the car door, stepping out and plugging in. Any time spent first fumbling around with a wallet, jacket, hat, checking my phone, looking at the route planner...

    Fisker Ocean... ?

Saw one in a grocery store parking lot here about three weeks ago. It looked nice, but that video certainly revealed some very disappointing details. I'd love to see more and better competition in the EV market. I have to wonder if this iteration of Fisker can survive long enough to correct...

    All discussion of Lucid Motors

I agree. I'd love to see Lucid succeed and thrive, because I want the market to have plenty of competition and for consumers to have a lot of choices. But I don't think it's likely for reasons hit upon multiple times in this thread. Setting aside the debate over if/when Saudi patience will...

2023 MYLR, One year ownership experience

Appreciate this. I was able to work through the settings and get it reconfigured for the TACC that I like. Shouldn't have to be that complicated. Ditto for those who have remarked about the windshield wipers, except I would argue that is worse. In a situation where the windshield is rapidly...

    All discussion of Lucid Motors

Yes, but whether it's due to limited demand or technical hurdles, the non-ramp up of production means they have not demonstrated what kind of economies-of-scale would result. I can see where any potential buyer would be concerned by this.

Hertz cuts back on EV purchases

I don't see Hertz giving specific numbers, but I do think a "higher than usual" number of front-end collisions is plausible. Whenever someone drives a Tesla for the very first time, what does the person typically say? "I can't believe the acceleration! Wow!" When I have a family member or...
