Is it really super dangerous to go over the 120pound weight limit of the stock tow hitch? I’m about 30-50 pounds over.

I’m probably using the wrong terminology but these pics show what I mean by wrapping the straps around the central roof pillar.

Not sure if you’re referring to my setup, but I did not hook those straps to the glass. It’s one strap looped around the central roof pillar.

Yeah, the pic didn’t show it but each strap has a microfiber cloth where it lays on the paint.

I’m carrying two 60 lb ebikes on a 40 lb hitch mount rack and removed the lever moment by using this lashing strap from Amazon. I haven’t noticed any additional wind noise from this setup and after a couple hundred miles haven’t had any surface marks on the paint. Oh yeah, I’ve gone over a lot...

What Would Compel You To Upgrade to a Future Model X?

I admit they are slower to open & close but I’m never in that much of a hurry so I don’t mind that aspect. I have 2 granddaughters and loading them is so much easier with the FWD and with all the rain here in Oregon I love staying dry while loading. I’ve read about all of the issues with FWD’s...

Tesla Autopilot Full Self Driving Month Trial April 2024. Pretty Good!

Newport Oregon to Bend Oregon Received my FSD update this weekend and was able to test it out on my drive from Newport to Bend. This drive follows US-20 thru the Cascade Mountains which is 2-lanes and has a lot of hairpin, 30-mph turns so I felt would be a great test. I last used FSD several...

2023 X with USS any disadvantage

I picked up my 2023 Model X last December and had a problem with the FWD opening to its full extent. The service department fixed the problem by replacing the USS in the door — they even showed me the old ones. The admitted there is a lot of confusion over the USS but the FWD’s still have them.

just ordered an X, what accessories or parts should I expect?

Keep in mind the new MX’s sport a round projection lamp, not rectangular.

Have MYLR, thinking about buying MX

Maybe this is included in the description of “comfortable” but my X is a lot quieter than the Y.

    First Ever NACS Adapter

I realize a few charging companies are starting to install NACS plugs but for the foreseeable future I would only be concerned with Tesla’s policy since their’s is the only network I’m interested in using. Their’s and Rivian’s since I hope to charge my R1T on the Tesla network.

Custom wheels: what is best width and offset for perfect square setup on X?

True, but on my 2023 X the front tire is 265/45R20 and the rear is 275/45R20 which comes out to 29.4” vs 29.7” and 687 rev/mile vs 678 rev/mile. Is that a large enough difference to be noticeable?

Custom wheels: what is best width and offset for perfect square setup on X?

Does a square setup like this throw off the speedometer/odometer? I’m guessing putting OEM front wheels on the rear might affect this.

And now a word from Electrify America...

    As well they should be.

Tesla Supercharging - SC05 - Transfer supercharging workaround?

This simply says Supercharging may decrease the peak-charging rate. It says nothing about degrading battery life or range.
