Some new data from research on Tesla model 3 cells

There is another easy way to calculate the constant for your car without requiring use of SMT. If you have an app like Tessie or possibly TeslaMate, they usually keep track of your charge data. If you have a pretty good history of your charge data from the app all you need to do is take total...

Clarity around CAC imbalances, voltage imbalances, bad bricks, and battery warranty - 2015 90D

I remember when Jason posted these numbers and there wasn't much SMT data at that time to compare to. But I was suspicious of those numbers from Jason because they didn't match well with what I saw from my own car that had a 4.0 kWh buffer when I bought it new in 2015, and also had a full...

Dash showing more range than when new

The battery does look good as far as degradation goes. But it still leaves the question of how the display shows 385 miles at 100%, when the new rated range number was 370 miles, unless it really is a long range +. I agree it is a little bit of a red flag that the owner got rid of the car after...

Dash showing more range than when new

You're looking at the right place, so it doesn't appear to have the option to change the display to ideal miles. Did you find out any more information? You can use the energy screen method to calculate the approximate capacity of the battery to help determine degradation if you are still...

Some new data from research on Tesla model 3 cells

My car (70D) I bought new in 2015, and it always had a 4.0 kWh buffer. I am not sure where the idea of a lower buffer of 2.4 came from but I think maybe the 60 kWh cars did have a smaller buffer. But the 70 cars always had 4.0 kWh. Is your battery the original? That is very little...

Some new data from research on Tesla model 3 cells

I am not sure how TeslaMate derives those capacity numbers but they are incorrect. The 70D started at 68.88 kWh nominal full pack with a 4.0 kWh buffer. So usable new was 64.88 kWh. My verification of this is from TM-Spy which is CANBUS data, the same as SMT. However, rated range is calculated...

2020 Model S Long Range plus - RANGE

Actually, I don't think your range numbers sound that bad if you consider everything. Did the 2020 also come with 19" rims? Usually the rating of 402 would be with the smaller wheels, so with the 21" you would expect less than that. And if you average efficiency is 330 Wh/mi, you are doing...

Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

There is an easy way to get a very good estimate of your battery kWh. It is a sticky thread in the M3 battery and charging forum. Maybe that is how you got your estimate, but if not, you could check that out.

2024 Plaid rated range displayed is 347 vs EPA 359

It seems like if it was a mistake or bug they would have fixed it right away. If your window sticker says 359 that is most likely correct. Maybe Tesla just made the displayed miles more in line with what typical owners would experience driving. I don't think Tesla has to make the display...

2024 Plaid rated range displayed is 347 vs EPA 359

The old Teslas originally used a fixed buffer of 4 kWh. Now I believe they use a value that can vary with total battery capacity. I think it is now 4.5 % of nominal full pack. That would be about 4.36 kWh for your 96.9 kWh battery. What is your CANBUS buffer reading? I know this is not...

2024 Plaid rated range displayed is 347 vs EPA 359

Any updates on this situation? According to Tesla, you have about 3.3% degradation to your battery, which of course you know is BS. I think there is a health check feature in your car that you can use to check your battery. I'm curious if you have tried that to see what it says.

Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

Did you get a reman or new pack? Because 230 miles was the full rated miles for an original S70 when new. So whatever you got, that's pretty good.

Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

Did you have any warning signs prior to your failure? How much degradation did your original battery have prior to the failure? What did Tesla guarantee for capacity on the refurb pack?

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I agree with you here. I should have been more precise and said they can adjust the displayed range.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

It's not just the 2024 model Y that is showing less than the "advertised" EPA estimate. People are claiming that the 2024 Model S Plaid is showing only 347 miles at 100% charge with an advertised range estimate of 359 miles. When Tesla was asked about this they said "it is normal to lose...
