Powerwall / battery storage: can you share how you use it with UK energy tariffs?

was: Intelligent octopus, set the battery to charge to 25/50/75/100 depending on season (would be just about to set it to 75%) and maximise solar self consumption. now : Intellignet gives you access to Octopus SEG at 15p for export, and 7.5p import. So the more efficient route would be - charge...

    Matrix headlights - finally???

They’re pixcell in the 2021 model we saw a teardown video of the units. 100 pixels so not like fancy new Audi ones but enough for basic functions. Someone mentioned the highland may be a new unit

    Auto de-fogging

seemed greyed out - I tried manually setting AC with recirc on but after pressing AC on and turning the fan up, it was greyed out. Didn’t press it so maybe it still worked though. I’d have thought auto defogging would have done that - but does it just use the fan like a numpty?

    Auto de-fogging

ok this morning I had a fogged up windscreen. Auto defogging took 10 minutes before it was safe to drive. came back to the train station this afternoon - same again! I don’t think I’ve had a car this bad, and I don’t even remember my Teslas being this bad before. This is a 2023 Y, had 3s...

    Don't buy a model Y now...

I mean - everyone has things on their ‘must have’ list but if you’re looking at a Y you likely already know it doesn’t have active matrix and considering the other good points of the car, seems an odd thing to avoid it for. USS far more annoying and they aren’t coming back But then I’ve never...

    Matrix headlights - finally???

it has about 100 pixels - I think BMW/Audi have moved on quite a bit since then? functionally yes but perhaps the lower resolution helps Tesla in this case as they can’t do anything *too* fancy. great news though, fingers crossed its usable

    Converting UK Lights To EU

Note that while this is a useful change for tourists, it might not be changing to the official local pattern and just moving the beam. So it may not be enough for OP (wherever they are now)

[UK] 2024 Order to Delivery discussion

They changed the amount of charge based think on government guidelines. But when I picked my Y up last June they also give you some supercharger miles which should be enough to top up nearby if needed. Bear in mind also some collection sites don’t have superchargers so charging a ton of new...

    2024 Insurance Costs

friend of ours does that to cut down to one car. I’d be tempted but then we’d be stuck with the wife’s e-golf which for long trips isn’t ideal :) and she wouldn’t want a bigger car.

    2024 Insurance Costs

damn. £550 last year with the Y - changed halfway through the year so only paid £80 to update so didn’t mind (was £450 for the 3LR before that) just got renewal from churchill - £870! Comparison sites lowest is £750 and goes to £810 if you skip the first few (may be ok but often limited...

    Model 3 lease return

Have you done Europe/long distance in the Y yet? Curious about doing a run to north Italy in it. Last year we did to the swiss alps but that was a model 3 LR and now we have a Y RWD so extremes on the range front

Bluetooth Game Controllers - Latest Update 2023.26

no I don’t think 360 used bluetooth, they were custom 2.4ghz I think. even early xbox one controllers weren’t bluetooth until later on

    So… Highland is out…

someone could probably mock up something with capacity buttons and a little microcpu that makes a clicky sound to simulate and you can stick on your wheel. I'd be tempted to mock up something with a 3d printer but the real one doesn't have physical buttons so that might be too good :P I just...

    So… Highland is out…

I thought we had variable rate steering already in the UK? So either that means steer by wire is allowed, or they're doing something with the power assist to vary the rate? Makes me think you could do that less rotation lock to lock without steer by wire necessarily?
