Model S slipping back into Park while backing up?

Thanks for the logical explanation. I suspect I am lifting up off the seat a bit as it's my habit to turn and put my arm out to the passenger seat to look over my right shoulder (Not yet learned to trust the backup camera). I do wear my seatbelt (thanks to everyone for their concern about my...

Model S slipping back into Park while backing up?

About 6 month old Model S (85D) Have had a few episodes where backing slowly out of parking place and and then car suddenly slips back into park (car stops with a bit of a jolt). The first time it scared the hell out of me as I thought I had hit something. Anyone else had this issue...

    Wait at Superchargers on thankgiving?

Hi all: Relatively new (and very happy) 85D owner. Planning to drive up from NC to DC area on Thanksgiving AM with family. Not having road tripped in Tesla before, what are the chances of lines/crowds at the superchargers during a busy holdiay travel day? Either going up on Thursday or coming...

New Owners: What was your last car? How much more was the MS than that car?

Interesting thread. At this point every car I have ever purchased cost more than the one before. Not sure I can continue that rend after Telsa:) 1985 Toyota Celica (off the college!) 1996 Acura Integra (Celica still going strong after 11 years but was starting to have some more frequent issues)...

    My first real Tesla moment!

Had the car for 4 days. Last night it is parked in the driveway (plugged into 110 outlet as I don't have the 240 installed yet). Pizza delivery guy pulls up into driveway and comes to the door. "What the hell is that car?!?"(handing me pizza). We proceed to stand in doorway for 20 minutes...

    Supercharger - Asheville, NC

Burlington SC to Asheville shows 188 miles on Google but realize that the last hour is substantially uphill (I am guessing would be borderline for a 70 but probaby doable in 85? Hard for me to believe they would put an SC both in Asheville and also in Hickory or Statesville?

Finally ordered! Thanks to the all on the forum

After a couple of months of obsessively researching, spending way too much time on this forum, and driving my wife crazy by talking about it constantly, I finally took the plunge! Great service from Raleigh store (thanks Hutch!) to help find me what I was looking for--85D in the old...

    Supercharger - Asheville, NC

Any intel on Asheville SC? For me this seems like a key missing piece to connect i40 (don't think Burlington to Knoxville is feasible) as well as facilitate a popular vacation/weekend getway. Someone at Tesla told me that they were starting construction in the whole foods parking lot in...

Slightly different take on the 70D vs. 85D debate

No sensible person would look at a car as an investment. I do think it's reasonable when forking out nearly 100K for something to at least consider how slowly (or rapidly) it will depreciate as a relevant variable to consider.

    Question about alcantera on dash

trying to figure out if this is now only with the premium interior or is this on all cars now? Like the power liftgate (although not nearly worth the price) and better quality leather/lighting, but have to say I am not crazy about the suede on the dash. Looks out of place to my eye and seems...

Is there a way to estimate the date of production based on the VIN?

Looking at CPO cars, just trying to guestimate how old they are (other than the year obviously)

Slightly different take on the 70D vs. 85D debate

Agree very hard to know the future for EV marketplace. Taking a quick look at current CPO prices for S60 compared to S85, it seems like the S60s are selling for 60-65 and the S85s are selling for mid 70's, so around a 10K-12K gap. Recognizing it is a larger gap in performance and range between...

    Regular 19's vs. Cyclones?

Is there any difference beyond just looks? Like the look of the cyclones but no way can I justify 2500 just for slightly nicer looking rims (never been a "wheel guy")

Slightly different take on the 70D vs. 85D debate

I think one thing both the D and the 85 give you is future flexibility. Right now I live in NC-some snow but not terrible, and probably don't have a compelling case for the AWD in terms of winter weather. Similarly, we have reasonable SC coverage (espeically once Asheville opens) so the added...
