BSM: V_ess too low during precharge

I created my own precharge problem in this case. While servicing the pack, I capped and stowed a lug that goes to the B- terminal and forgot to reconnect this after sheet reinstallation. Ideal fix!

BSM: V_ess too low during precharge

I believe (with limited knowledge of the precharge circuit) if it were to fail open, then the system should never reach precharge voltage (opposite of it reaching precharge too fast).

BSM: V_ess too low during precharge

@thefortunes - thanks for the reply. I did check that FET with continuity and didn't find any pins shorted to any other pins in doing so.

BSM: V_ess too low during precharge

Hi all, Wondering if anyone has more info on how the precharge system of the Roadster works. Long story short - I popped an ESS sheet fuse while accelerating a few months back, replaced it, and am now working through precharge errors (BSM: precharge too fast at t1 ID:275, and BSM: V_ess too...

Behind-the-Scenes from a TMC Member's Appearance on Jay Leno's Garage

Yes agree with Steve, there are definitely four unique wheels for 1.5 & 2.0s (as well as 2.5s). The photos @drewski linked to could be from a car that only got one direction of spokes on both left and right sides. Every 1.5/2.0 that I've seen with forged wheels has had them all pointing forwards...

Behind-the-Scenes from a TMC Member's Appearance on Jay Leno's Garage

Nice! I remember browsing that site. My car came with every option (carbon interior, carbon front spoiler lip and intake vents) except for clear carbon rear spoiler and clear carbon hood vanes. I shelled out for the rear spoiler ($1500 I believe), but couldn't swallow the $4000 price tag for the...

Behind-the-Scenes from a TMC Member's Appearance on Jay Leno's Garage

Ah, I never noticed the marking on the inside of the rim. When you say 'when Tesla installed them' - did your car have the non-forged wheels to begin with? My car is one of the first few 2.5s produced according to rumors and VIN, and it was assembled with the wheels in the wrong direction. I...

Behind-the-Scenes from a TMC Member's Appearance on Jay Leno's Garage

Very cool, will be watching. Question - have your wheels always been in that orientation (spokes pointing forward)? I have VIN 965 and my wheels have been that way for the life of the vehicle, but every other 2.5 that I see has the spokes pointed backward. I always thought I was the only one!

Open Vehicle Monitor System (OVMS) - Technical Discussion

I'm on H2O as well, works well. Does use ATT's APNs though, so hopefully won't be affected as well in Dec.

    10-Way Adjustable Bilstein Suspension Failure

I didn't thoroughly pursue a rebuild with Bilstein as I would have had to remove my front struts and have my car up on blocks for some period of time. I eventually went in for service and had Tesla replace the front struts at my expense. How many miles are you at when symptoms occurred?

Searching for 2010 or 2011 Roadster Sport

There are two *very* low-mileage, black-on-black, Roadster Sports on eBay at the moment: 2.5, 6753 miles, $85K: Tesla : Roadster Sport 2.0, 2121 miles, $75k: Tesla Roadster Sport | eBay The 2.5 is from a dealer in Texas who seems to move quite a few Roadsters; you would probably be able to...

    10-Way Adjustable Bilstein Suspension Failure

Matt, thanks for all of the details! Glad to hear you've finally got a silent front end. Based on what you're saying...was the issue somehow related to the remote gas cylinders of the front shocks? I'd be interested in narrowing down the cause of failure (assuming it's the same as mine) in...

    10-Way Adjustable Bilstein Suspension Failure

Thanks everyone for the suggestions & advice. I'll explore my options and update. If anyone else has datapoints on these particular shocks and their lifespan I'd be interested.

    10-Way Adjustable Bilstein Suspension Failure

Yeah...the downtime is the biggest antagonist to trying to handle this myself. Tesla has the parts in stock but we are talking about $1300 per shock plus labor. And I'd probably want to replace the fronts as a pair, and there's no guarantee the same thing won't happen to the rears. Hopefully...
